Please, NMRs make me a sad panda.

DC135: F&L Spring 05 Results! - holyyakker at gmail.com (Feb 02, 2008, 8:37 am) |
France's forward troops find themselves stonewalled by a combined Austrian Russian Defense. Meanwhile in the Mediterranean France is pushed back by Italy. In the Peninsula however it is another story as France's troops move into Piedmont and Tuscany. And all does not go well for Russia as concerns on the front line opposing France result in the loss of Moscow to the British troop, with few reinforcements in sight. Meanwhile Turkey's troops have all redeployed back towards the homeland, but these motions were slowed by conflict with Italy in the Aegean Sea.

Tonight DC 135 Fear and Loathing goes down at 8:00PM EST.
I have received some moves, but I have not replied to some of them yet. This is because I enter them as I set them received, so ones I get while at work I do not immediately reply to. F&L Fall 1904 (FINALLY!) - holyyakker at gmail.com (Jan 25, 2008, 10:52 pm) |
As the gears of war grind on the casualties mount! Italy enters into the fray nearing the Black Sea as other alliances appear to be brokered among new leaders. England's fleets stand dominant in the northern reaches of the continent while France maintains a near solid front from Berlin to Portugal. And Russia's third army, the brutal Winter seems to be hurting it's own men as much as the enemy as the country has trouble supporting it's troops abroad. But who knows what Spring will be.

UPDATE AND REMINDER DC135 - holyyakker at gmail.com (Jan 20, 2008, 12:18 pm) |
Hello again:
Please Remember that Orders are DUE this Friday January 25th at 8:00PM EST.
With a new player for Turkey they asked if they could switch one retreat that was made for Turkey on my behalf last season. I have done so because I feel it is the only really fair thing to do. As a result I am sending you an updated map and Diplomacy File.
Turkey's Retreat from the Black Sea is to Ank, not Con as a result.
Thank you for bearing with me.[Reply] |
Player list dc135 - holyyakker at gmail.com (Jan 17, 2008, 2:23 pm) |
Okay Boys and Girls (my apologies to any hermaphrodites whom I failed to mention). It looks like we may be back on track, again. My apologies for the numerous delays and such but with luck we'll be able to get back on a season a week schedule. Below is the updated contact information, please play nice with the new Turkish ruler (or don't, this is Diplomacy I suppose).
DEADLINE FOR FALL 04 IS FRIDAY JANUARY 25th AT 8:00PM EST! This gives you over a week to work it all out and figure out what you all wish to do. Please send preliminary moves - since it's been causing more confusion than enjoyment I'm going to nix the idea of speedy turnaround and stick to regular schedule from now on.
Those who have already submitted moves I will consider them valid, but if you want to change please feel free to email me updates.
Again, my sincerest apologies for the delays and hangups.

DC104 Invitational Proposal - deathblade_penguin (Oct 17, 2007, 5:59 pm) |
Mike
This is a really good idea... do you have a 5 player variant in mind (or can you keep one)?
Because I've already invited the next highest player on the list but if they knock back the position I will
happily go with the idea of a 4 player variant rather than seek replacement players.
I am home i will hear back from this person today and then get update you all asap.
I am also waiting to hear back from the GM i lined up. Hopefully that will be today as well.
I think this is a good idea though.

There is no point to inviting others half way thru… they would have no vested interest. Why don’t we play it out with the remaining 4? If 3 drop, that’s fine, they just can’t win points in round 2… but there is no mechanism in place to give replacements any hope of winning the tournament.
South America…
Great map: http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/images/South%20America.gif
It’s 4-player, which is exactly what we’ve got. It has been played twice before, a 3rd game of it would be neat as it hasn’t been played since dc38.
Ok I get to propose a map. So I’ll propose South America, and played out by those who are still here. Yays / Nays?
Steve who are the remaining 4 players? I presume Mikael, Erik, Felix, myself?
I think those who get to propose variants are:
- Player who played Austria (Ray / not playing)
- Player first eliminated (Steve / not playing)
- Winner of last years tournament (Kevin / not playing)
- Highest score in round 1 (me)
That leaves me.
Ok I propose S.America. Votes? It has one vote, me. I love democracy.
Wow… since I’m the only one who gets to propose a variant! I’ll propose.. S.American Sims Variant… I get to order 2/3 of all enemy units every turn. :-p
Let’s see those votes now! Mwuhahahahaha
No really. Plain old game of S.American gunboat. Press allowed, but only non-negotiation press, and only one press release per country per spring or fall turn, displayed with results. Press deemed directly negotiating or directed may be striken in parts by the GM, but not disclosed to the player until they see what parts of their press ends up posted. Players may not ask the GM to pre-edit or proof for acceptability. Good old regular press game.

Deep within the bomb-proof walls of an undisclosed location in southern Europe, the leaders of the unoccupied territories gathered. The walls shook as explosions rocked the ground above them - dust sifting from the ceiling with each bone-jarring thump to collect on the ground.
The Tsar pointed at the map spread on the table before them. "Nyet, comrades. This cannot be!" His finger hovered above the black dot that represented Vienna, as if somehow he could change it back from black to red.
The pink-clad Austrian before him grimaced. "Unfortunately, its true. The attack from Tyrolia was too much for us to hold."
"But can they really be at nineteen supply centers?" The Italian questioned - his voice cracking.
The Sultan smirked. "Their gains came in the west, from France, not from our Eastern centers." He sat in his chair quietly smoking his hookah and trying to ignore the sounds of the war above them. "We might as well all be waving white flags."
At that moment, the door opened and the French President walked in. His wardrobe consisted of shining white garments, from his stylish coat to his burnished shoes. A white beret topped his smiling face. Whistling to himself, he stopped as he suddenly noticed that the other four men were glaring at him. "What?" he asked. "Something I said?"
------------------------------
And with France, so goes the board. Congratulations to Mike Sims for a sweeping 19 center German solo victory in DC-104. Finessing his way back into Vienna, the German also storms into Marseilles and Spain to seal the deal. And with that, the first round of the Invitational comes to a close.
There was one retreat required from Spain, but it had only the Gulf of Lyons to go to. But of course, that is purely window-dressing with the game resolved. My thanks to all you players who made this game a very memorable one.
EOG's are, of course, extremely welcome. I would greatly look forward to what all of you have to say about this crazy game of ours. It's been an honour being the GM for this - my hat is off to all of you.
As always, please let me know if I've made a mistake at all in the adjudication. For those who keep track of these things, the last few Subject Headers came from the great White Stripes album "Get Thee Behind Me Satan."
Cheers! (And congratulations once again to Mike..)

I'll have to take Sims up on that, he has a very valid point. I'm fine with his proposal as it stands now.

I ask the players, from here on, not to discuss the second game (ie prefered variant/map) until we have all our 7 players signed
up...... although we may have less than 4 options to choose from.
I will update you as soon as i have 7 players.

DC104 Invitational Proposal (dc104) deathblade_penguin Oct 17, 05:59 pm |

Yes, Ukraine, that list is really long. 22 SC's long, to be exact.
Add the SC's Poland will take off Hungary and Spain, the latter of
whom especially I cannot help at all: Lan, San, Por, Tol, Val,
Zar...and bam, SOLO +1. He doesn't even have to stab you, although
Mus, Kie, Ode might be easier to nab than going all the way to Val.
Especially since 7 of your 8 units are in or south of the Black Sea.
Poland is my enemy. I only fight you because you 1. attack me and 2.
are working with Poland. I only took back Arm because I needed to
stay even; my initial offer to give you Arm still stands if you'll
cede back Smy. PLEASE turn around before it's too late. I can help
you retake Rum; if you think he's actually going to give it back to
you then you're out of your mind. And without your pressing units I
can send more to the fight in the west. Let's seriously talk about
this.[Reply] |

I ask the players, from here on, not to discuss the second game (ie prefered variant/map) until we have all our 7 players signed up...... although we may have less than 4 options to choose from. I will update you as soon as i have 7 players. Stephen aka Deathblade_penguin www.diplomaticcorp.com

The attack from Tyrolia was too much for us to hold.""But can they really be at nineteen supply centers?" The Italian questioned - his voice cracking. The Sultan smirked. "Their gains came in the west, from France, not from our Eastern centers." He sat in his chair quietly smoking his hookah and trying to ignore the sounds of the war above them. "We might as well all be waving white flags." At that moment, the door opened and the French President walked in. His wardrobe consisted of shining white garments, from his stylish coat to his burnished shoes. A white beret topped his smiling face. Whistling to himself, he stopped as he suddenly noticed that the other four men were glaring at him. "What?" he asked. "Something I said?" ------------------------------And with France, so goes the board. For those who keep track of these things, the last few Subject Headers came from the great White Stripes album "Get Thee Behind Me Satan." Cheers!
