Dc159 Fall 1901 - Info Email - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The news is at hand. The world has flooded. Africa was the last to sink plummeting to the depths late last night and no contact can be established with the Americas. Only Russia knows if there is any dry land east of them in the rest of Asia and yet they are silent on the issue. Huge Tidal waves have swept through the atlantic resulting in the flooding of London, Belgium and Holland. There are also reports that central france has become to subside and that there is now fleet access to Moscow. Venice is completely underwater. New colonies have 'begun' to be established in Wales (by English troops), Ruhr (by German Troops) and Tyrloia (By Austrian Troops) and these will be under direct control of these nations AT the end of Winter 1901.

*****************************
First thing to note, my fellow current survivors, My base can be found high in the mountains of switzerland. The player to have their representatives there in 1908 will be granting the title of sole survivor and will win a million dollars as presented by Jeff Probst. Next the map I am about to share with you, about the lay out of the land has different colours to what you expect. It is do to with the new programme I am using to create the deluge map (slightly beyond Realpolitik's reach)

England is now represetented by Red
France is now Dark Blue
Germany is Grey
Russia is Brown
Italy is Orange
Austria is White.
Turkey is Green.

All units and SC have the flag of the country on them. A SC with a yellow star on it is neutral.
Some of the place names also get obscured when I place a unit there, so hopefully we'll all muddle through this together.
**********************************
Fall 1901

Fall 1901 so Italy trial two of the rules specific for this variant. Not only to Italy save its unit in venice by transforming it to a fleet, he also created an "army-fleet" to take Greece. the Turkish attack on the Ionion would have cut the fleets support though, but it was a good start at using "army - fleet"s. Do not under estimate the power of those units, in fact I suggest that re-reading the examples i gave you on them would be a good thing.

Since this is really wordy, I'll send the map and adjudication in another email.

1910 kicks off with another NMR, unfortunately. Spencer, if you have submitted orders and have a confirmation from me please send it my way and I'll correct the adjudication.

One retreat from the Spring for England in St. Petersburg. The fleet had only the Barents Sea to retreat to, however, so I took the liberty. (Rene, if OTB is preferred please just let me know.)

Onwards we rampage into Fall 1910. Deadline is on Thursday, March 13th (11:59 PM GMT). Just send me an email if you spot any errors with the adjudication and they will be corrected.

Cheers!

DC152 (wb0817) - Fall 1910 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Despite a valiant attempt at defense, Germany falls victim to the English / French 1-2 punch. Many thanks to Troy for playing this out and fighting tooth and nail till the end.

Deadline for Winter 1910 retreats and adjustments will be set for Friday, March 14th (11:59 PM GMT). Everyone has adjustments to make, and Russia, Turkey and Germany have retreats as well. Although, admittedly, the German retreat is academic..

As always, just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Spring 2006 - Har... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Our sage guru of all guru-ness plucks this from his Spring 2006 Fortune Cookie: You will soon be more aware of your growing awareness.

Course, we're all aware of hind-sight. Mexico puts on an eye-patch and peg-leg, moving into Carribean waters. New York continues to struggle against the wrath of the previously-stabbed and the weather channels split in disagreement over the coming Canadian cold front or Sunny Californian glow...

One retreat required after all of that - the New York fleet in the Gulf of St Lawrence finds itself finding a new port. Either Newfoundland or Quebec, the American sailors will soon find themselves in a land with strange-speaking people. Deadline for the Summer 2006 retreat will be set for Sunday, March 16th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers all. Please just let me know if you spot any mistakes.

DC129 - Missing Orders - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Pendulum swings the other way once again and I find myself missing two sets of orders from the other side of the board. I'll hold off adjudication for this evening and hope that the stray order sets will find their way in over the course of the night.

Thanks for the patience, all,

Trout

Spring 1911 due Monday 10PM EST. I believe that technically all moves from now on do not effect the outcome of the tournament which will have round two starting shortly based on the current round 1 results.

Subject: DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Spring 2006 - Hard On Equipment

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Summer 2006 - Fam... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
About time I got out of that cookie....

Save the fortune. Eat the cookie. On we go. =)

The New York sailors retreat to Quebec and treat themselves to an order of poutine. Deadline for Fall 2006 orders will be set for Friday, March 21st (11:59 PM GMT).

And if I could, I'd like to just say a word about orders. I've received interesting comments from more than one player concerning the incorrect coastal designation of New York's orders last turn. All I can say is to please, please, please submit prelim orders. The more time you give me to review the orders, the greater the chance that I'll see any possible errors and request clarification.

I have to admit that in the games that I'm playing, I'm the worst culprit at getting my orders in just on time - correcting this is one of my Spring resolutions. =)

Nuff said. Cheers everyone!

cat23 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
hey, ive been gettin mail chains from the cat23 forum about the slow fading away of that dip group. How sad- its the group i started with so long ago- 12 years i think (but then my memory isnt what it was so it could be more or less) and provided some fantastic games that have stayed with me to this day.
Anyway the point is there is talk from a hardy band of dedicated dippers on how to rejuvenate cat23 including a website. Now what better example than the excellent site here.
Keep up the good work guys
Max
