Map - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hi All,
I've just started my first game. Its a standard map but I've noticed that on some online boards, whilst the province boundaries are the same the names vary. Is there anywhere I can get a copy of the standard map so my moves aren't confused?
Many thanx

DC116 Fall 07 Deadline Reminder - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hey there, fellow Vogon's...
Just a gentle nudge that Fall 1907 orders are due in 9.5 hours. Apologies for the late reminder - I was somewhat blotto from my company's Christmas party last night. =P
Cheers!

DC112 fall 1907 results! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Fall 1907 arrives, with Russia slipping unopposed into Greece and pushing a bit more forcefully into both Berlin and Vienna. Meanwhile, Italy counter-attacks the German alpine excursion, even as France moves ever closer to the boot.
Two retreats are due:
Germany's A Berlin may retreat to Kiel or OTB.
Italy's F Tyrrhenian Sea may retreat to Rome, Naples, or OTB.
Winter 1907 adjustments:
France -- no change
Germany -- no change if retreating to Kiel, or build 1 if retreat is OTB.
Italy -- remove 2, or only 1 if retreat is OTB.
Russia -- build 4
Both the retreats and adjustments will be due Tuesday 12/11 at 3pm Central (US). If the retreat orders arrive more quickly, I will announce the retreat results before then and update the map.

what a busy week! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
My apologies in advance to anyone expecting a response from me. It's been busy most of the week here at work, and I have had little time to review my e-mails other than to adjudicate a game I'm running, and even that was a little late. So please don't take my lack of responsiveness as any sign of hostility. I'll be back Monday morning (US Central).

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 1907 - That Space - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
The Sultan and Tsar both agreed
Hostilities were openly freed
Yellow walked into Berlin
But Serbia, the Cossacks did win
And Rumania as well, for the lead.
------------------------------------------------
Oh - the sheer horror of Trout's poetic license. My apologies to any English majors out there. =)
Italy scores Trieste as both France and Austria hold on for yet another year. But do the arrival of the newly raised Scottish regiments in Picardy spell the end for our friends in Paris?
No retreats are required and the winter is somewhat of a quiet one. Italy and Russia gain a build while the Sultan is forced to disband one. Deadline for Winter 1907 adjustments will be set for Sunday, December 9th (11:59 PM GMT).
Please let me know if I flubbed up with anything. Cheers all,

dc140 (re001) game start! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hey all,
I guess I'm one of the last to make an introduction. My name is Chicco (pronounced Kee-ko) Seminari and I'm in my 3rd year, studying Political Science at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I've played Diplomacy once before on another forum, immediately fell in love with it, and so came over to diplomaticcorp to find more games.
I'll be playing as Russia for my first time, so we'll see how that goes.

Hi All,
I'm Andy, from Yorkshire in England and I will be playing as Austria. I'm a security expert and run my own security/body guarding and training business here in the UK.
I discovered the Diplomacy board game a few months back and have sine bored my friends and family with it, playing it almost everyday. This is my first online game though and my first against experienced players.
May I wish everyone an enjoyable game.

I'm David but on internet I prefer to be Davitchenko (because for me is really funny nick name). I will play with Turkey as Sultan Davitchenko. I'm from Koper, Slovenia (I live very very close to Trieste so my first goal is to capture my native territory Trieste - Austria be aware ). Soon I will be a civil engineer and now I'm writing this mail from a construction site (Reconstruciton of the old Hotel Palace, Portoro¾, Slovenia) that I'm working at as a student. I'm interested in open source, civil engineering, design, psicology and I like cooking, listening to alternative and underground music, making some funny videos for my friend, doing massage to (hot) girls, to learn new languages, to travel and meet new people.
I played Diplomacy through the internet some years ago (when I had more time than now) and now I'm back.
My mails always start with slovenian greetings so don't be scared.
Good luck to everybody and I hope we will have very good colaboration

I live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and I love to play hockey.

I am pleased to announce the start of our game, which will now be numbered dc140. This game will be named "The Never Ending Story," a little commentary about my current work environment. (Kevin, if you're out there, they're coming back again next week!) The player roster and country assignments appear at the end of this message. Martin, I hope you are able to join another game soon, a fresh re001 should be coming very soon.
Please indicate the game number, your country, the season of play, and a version number for your orders in any e-mails to me: e.g. "dc140 England spring 1901 orders, v1". I am involved in two other games, so as you might expect, I have lots of Dip-related e-mail traffic -- the header allows me to use mail filters so that I don't lose anything, or inadvertently mix up your orders with those I saw in another game. If you have any questions of a technical nature that are not addressed in the official Diplomacy rules or my House Rules, I'll do my best to answer those. However, I can't address strategy or divulge any information about another player's orders/plans (or lack thereof).
Also, don't forget to subscribe to the dc140 forum on the group website. I will send all my notices to everyone's individual e-mail addresses as well, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup. On that theme, I maintain a secondary e-mail address, coryfucius(at)gmail.com (coryfucius(at)gmail.com), to ensure that the game isn't hindered by any problems that periodically arise with Yahoo mail. Please feel free to send e-mails to both of my addresses; I would rather receive 2 copies of a message than take the chance of the only copy getting lost.
I encourage each of you to introduce yourselves to the rest of the players. My name is Cory Burris, and I have been involved in Diplomacy for nearly 2 years. This is my second time serving as a GM with the DC club. In real life, I work as a budget analyst for a large US state, am married, and have one child.
About 24 hours before each deadline, I will do my best to send out a reminder notice. But this is not a promise, and the deadline won't be delayed if I am unable to send a reminder, meeting the deadline is your responsibility. With each adjudication, I will include both a .gif file and a Realpolitik .dpy file. If you don't have RP yet, I highly recommend it -- the club website has a link to this program. The adjudication text, .gif file, and current player stats can also be found on the club website.
Our first deadline, for the spring 1901 orders, will be Thursday 12/13 at 3pm Central (US). I strongly encourage preliminary orders, especially on the first turn. With the holidays approaching, I would like to get in a full game year before vacation schedules slow us down.
Thanks for playing, everyone!

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Early Winter... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
- WEARY AND WOUNDED, BRITISH VETS RETIRE TO DUBLIN PUBS FOR A PINT O' BITTER
- CONFEDERATE NAVY PREPARES FOR HURRICANE WEATHER OFF TAMPA BAY
- BRAZILIANS INTERECEPT DRUG RUNNERS SPEEDING THROUGH EASTERN CARRIBEAN SEA
-------------------------------------------
Hey folks,
The Early Winter retreats go off without a hitch. Britain retreats to Dublin, Tonkin and sends Karachi off the board. Brazil falls back to the Eastern Carribiean, Japan to the Kuril Sea and the Confederates to Tampa Bay.
With Britains retreat to Tonkin, the adjustment count alters slightly. The Queen's forces now only disband 3 while the glorious Chinese army gains 1 build rather than 2. Deadline for the Winter adjustments will be set for Monday, December 10th (11:59 PM GMT).
Also, the DIAS vote has been torpedoed out of the water. Looks as though we play on. =P
Please let me know if you spot any other errors. Cheers!

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 1907 Adjudication Err... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hi folks,
My sincere apologies but it looks as though I was on the glue again last night. My thanks to the players who have pointed this out to me.
While the English convoy to Picardy was well-intentioned, unfortunately Belgium is in between Picardy and the North Sea. Therefore the fleet in the North cannot convoy from Edinburgh to Picardy. RealPolitik, smarter than I am, recognized this and did not move the unit from Edi. Therefore your map shows the correct placement. The corrected adjudication is below.
Apologies for any confusion, folks. For winter 1907 adjustments remains on Dec 9th (at 11:59 PM GMT.) Cheers!

DC134 WOT Raider Question - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Raiders will appear with the rest of the builds. You will not learn ahead of time that they will be building. So the answer to your question is they can still show up this winter. You will find out Monday night when all builds are exposed.

Jason, should I assume that the Seanchans now won't
appear this cycle, since they have no builds listed,
or is this the turn where they very well might?

Try the Diplomatic Pouch for now:

However, note that we here at DC are working on a DipWiki project - a Wikipedia for all things dip-related. It hasn't been officially rolled out yet, but Mike has put a link to it at the top of the webpage.
Hopefully soon, we can just point you to that link for questions along these lines. *grin*

DC 124 - Winter 03 - One Last Cast Before Dinner - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hey gents,
Well, all adjustments are in for DC-124 Winter 03 and a fine lot it is, too. Armies pop up in Trieste and St. Petersburg, and a Fleet launches in Edinburgh. Meanwhile units drop off the board in Smyrna and Portugal. And with things looking extremely grim for Turkey, we move into the Spring of 04.
And with that, I'll hand the game back over to your good GM. My thanks to everyone for putting up with my ramblings and letting me come in to run the gun for a couple turns. I believe Josh is back this evening and should be able to take it from here. I've set a tentative Spring 04 deadline for Friday, December 14th (11:59 PM GMT) but Josh may announce a different deadline if he needs to change that.
Cheers everybody. Have a great game, eh!

DC111:: END GAME! SOLO TO ITALY!! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Almost worth having been backstabbed. I am definitely glad it wasn't a shared victory with Austria.

Congrats to Tom! Bumping Scott off the most recent solo ticker! As Italy nonetheless, this is only the 3rd Italian solo in dc history:

Dc101 - NO Moves from France. - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Dc101.
I have received no moves from France. As per my house rules, France gets a grace period of 24 hours from the initial
deadline to submit moves.
Anyone is welcome to change their moves during this time, but i will be ajdudicating as soon as i received France's moves.

Jason B has graciously volunteered to take over in Germany in the absence of the previous Kaiser.
I am leaving on vacation starting Thursday, and Stephen has agreed to be the substitute GM while I'm gone. Since I am leaving so soon I will allow Stephen to set the next deadline, and please keep in mind that the time of day that orders are due are likely to change since Stephen and I are on opposite sides of the world.
I will return on December 8th, and I look forward to see how things are doing. Good luck!
