| DC139 Live In Rapid City - Fall 06 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
| Greece becomes the creamy filling in Persia and Rome's Twinkie. Would have been completely swallowed if not for a rogue Roman support coming from Sparta..
All except Felix owe some adjustments. Deadline for Winter 06 will be set for Saturday, 8:00 AM MST or sooner. Cheers!

| dc109 s211 BC results! - "Take 2 lumps... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
| …and call me in the morning.”
Is the message to Gaul, as both Boj and Iaz get blasted. One manages an option to retreat, the other is left a tattered spread of blood and guts on the battlefield.

 The proposed 4-way draw fails.

2 armies are disbanded… Iaz of Gaul, and Aquelina of Germania.
1 army may retreat… Gaul’s Boj can go to Ali or Bel, by Monday 2pm Pacific

Fall of 211 BC shall then be Friday 12/21, 2pm Pacific - 1 week from today, to squeeze it in before Christmas.

Then we’ll run into the question of Builds… I’m happy to have the builds deadline be 12/24, if nobody objects, and then the next deadline maybe 12/30 or 31?

Let me know if anyone has holiday plans and would like time off during the festivities.

| Hey all. We have an offer for a new player, but there are some concerns that I want to open up before I talk to thi guy.
He is a new potential player, and is known in RL to 2 existing players (which is how he got interested)
This would give the game 3 players who know and see eachother in the real world, all bordering one of our existing players.
While not a guarentee, thsi could easily spell big trouble for that player.
Please send me your opinions, if there are ANY reservations we will wait for a non-related player.
(If that occurs this player will be first on the list for the next WOT game.)

Ah what the hell. That's why it's only an eight-ball. =) Spring 2001 falls like a hammer and all across the continent, armies mobilize and fleets set sail. With the scramble for the neutral centers, its way too early to tell which directions everyone is headed. Still, clouds form in Saskatchewan and the waters in the Carribean look to claim their share of blood...

No retreats are required and we move happily into Fall 2001. Please have orders in to me by Friday, December 21st (11:59 PM GMT)!!

| I know the idea is to have an oddly shaped map play identically to the Standard map, but I'd personally make one change, and play it as a variant.

I'd make the circular central "outside" passable and a sea province. That
way, your unnamed (on the map) central province, named "Switzerwater",
perhaps, would really serve to facilitate movement through all the water
provinces. Having it as a land province, or as an impassable province
(which makes it equivalent to Standard), kind of blocks things up.

I was bored the other day so I came up w this. It's IDENTICAL to thestandard map and entirely playable as a standard game... except it is
completely inverted topologically. The standard map has two unplayable
regions... Switzerland, and the "outside"... this map takes the outside
to the middle, and Switzerland to the outside, but otherwise is
completely equivalent to playing on the standard map.

| Yes, it is similar in concept to the wraparound variants, only here the wrap would be in all directions.
Switzerwater would mess up a lot of stalemate lines. I don't know if it would result in a completely stalemate-free variant.

Definitely an interesting idea, it would be akin in the regular to themap to
any fleet being able to go off the edge and come back on
 anywhere else.
Would totally change the dynamic, as for example Moscow would
 now have a
coast (bordering only switzerlake) but a coast nonetheless. Sev would
have two coasts... one on the Black Sea and another on the lake.
 France
can directly attack Russia, and England can directly attack Turkey
(via-NAT-Switzerlake- and then any of EMS, Syr, or Arm). Really
removesthe corner safety aspect of the game. Russia becomes the most
vulnerable, since a fleet in that space can hit StP, Mos, or
 Sev. So
much that it's almost imperative that Russia build a 1st year
 fleet and
take that spot for himself just to keep others out.

Would this one single change eliminate the possibility of stalemate
 lines?

| Spring 01 Results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
| Epic break out across a peaceful Eurasia!
The Slumbering Russian Giant wakes and rolls out into the world. Yet
it is met with resistance almost everywhere it turns! Austrian forces
clash with the Siberian Dreadnoughts and it is only in the northern
reaches of the country that Russia is able to make any headway. Yet
while they struggle fruitlessly to push their fleets into Rumania they
awaken to find that the Turkish Navy has taken control of the Black
Sea! Other movements troop movements are reported from within the
Turkish borders and a sizable army has made it's way in to bordering
 Bulgaria.

Meanwhile Germany expands virtually unimpeded to both the north and
the south while Italy seems content to slip their fleets into the
uncontested Mediterranean waters. But not all goes quietly for Italy
when the Austrian Navy tries to seize control of Venice. Sadly their
ships prove to large for the narrow canals and the army is able to
repel their advance. Meanwhile France and England head in two
 different directions, entirely unopposed.

As more conflict looms in the near future where will the armies turn next?

| DC135: Fall 01 Results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
| NEWS FLASH! France secures Western Peninsula while battles continue to rage in the East!

Sliding out of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean the fleets of France take up
station in Portugal while her armies sit in Spain. At the same time
England spreads their Empire to Norway and Belgium, settling in next
to the occupying German forces in Holland. But elsewhere nothing goes
quite so easily. Italian forces, backed by the Germans attempt to
push back into Trieste, but fail due to the combined efforts of the
Austrian Navy and Armies. Italy's other attempt to horn into the
Balkans is likewise repelled as the Turkish army in Bulgaria attempts
to move into Greece, in the end both armies are forced to retreat, the
delay stalling the movements of some of Turkey's other units.

To the North there is a clash in Sweden as both the Russia and German
fleets attempt to capture the country for themselves, and after a long
fought battle neither side holds take the day. Russia's movements
elsewhere are also stalled as a combined Turkish-Austrian maneuver
forces the advancing army from Ukraine to retreat, likewise the
Austrian force from Budapest is also unable to hold Rumania, and is
 forced to wait another season.

For now the war seems to only be destroying the lives of those in the
East, but the dark cloud boils and soon the winds of war will blow it
 Westward, or so it seems.

party interpretation of events. It is not influenced by any
communications received from players other than movement orders.))

Please be VERY careful when writing orders! Make sure you give an
order for each unit you control, even if it is just a hold order,
rather than fail to order a unit. Also check the spelling of
countries in all orders - I will try to interpret these orders, but
double check before you hit SEND!

| NEWS FLASH!
Italian armies march into Trieste with the assistance of German forces! After repeated conflicts along the Venician Triestian border the Italians finally succeeded in dislodging the Austria Navy. At the same time an Italian army moves through the Ionian Sea to take over Albania. Austria appeared to be distracted by their victory in Rumania.

French forces continue mobilizing into central Europe, pushing their army into Ruhr. England continues it's expansion to the north moving into Finland while the German fleet slides into the North Sea. Russia, abandoning their attempts into Rumania, moves instead into Galicia. Russia also manages to fend off the Turkish attempts at invading Sevastopol from the Black Sea.

But Fall is coming soon, and after that Winter. Who knows what will transpire between these nations between now and next Spring.

 ADDITIONAL NOTES:
As we draw a close to this second year I would like to now extend to the players the option for a SPEEDY TURNAROUND game.

What this means is I would adjudicate turns AS SOON as I received orders from all players. A deadline would be given, as per normal turns, but if all moves were submitted 2 days early I would adjudicate then.

If you wish to have this game adjudicated in such a manner please include a message saying "I would like speedy turn around" in your next set of orders. Some have already conveyed their preference, but please be sure to include it with this order set. I will only use this 'optional' rule if everyone is interested.

Finally - PLEASE include DC135 in the subject for ALL correspondence to me regarding this game. I get a great deal of email for this game and others I am in, it makes it much easier to filter and find your orders quickly if you include the game number in all emails. Thank you.

 Your cheery GM,

 Nick

| NEWS FLASH!
War ERUPTS violently within the Balkans this Fall! All great nations seem to have a hand in the massive conflicts arising in the Balkans save for the French and English, quietly content to bide their time and expand their own Empires! German and Italians forces came up against the combined efforts of Russia, Austria and Turkey. And when the dust clouds had settled nothing had changed save for the presence of a Turkish fleet in the Ionic Sea and the Italian Fleet in Tunis.

The French, however, with very little resistance find themselves marching on Munich while the British troops take control of Sweden. But back at home the German fleets, sensing a moment of vulnerability, slip into Edinburgh.
