Dc142.
First of all - Austria has 24 hours to submit his build. I have not received it yet.
Dear All, A small clarification.
The Season of WINTER (which we are submitting for now) is for Builds and Adjustments. It is not a movement phase. The phases of this game are:-
Spring (1st Movement phase)
Summer (if needed, retreats for any units dislodged in Spring)
Fall (2nd movement phase)
Autumn (if needed, retreats for any units dislodged in Fall)
Winter (builds and disbands)

DC140 "Never Ending Story" spring 1902 r... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Welcome back from the holiday break, everyone, now the intrigue begins.
England occupies Sweden, with what turns out to be an unneeded support from Germany, and both of them move units toward Russian home centers. Turkish fleets reach both the Adriatic and Black Seas, but Bulgaria is lost to a concentrated Austrian attack. Italy goes for the Lepanto strategy, moving a fleet to Eastern Med. An Austrian army hikes into Tyrolia. The French navy sails westward, taking control of the English Channel without a fight.
We have only one retreat, the Turkish army in Bulgaria. Since the only valid retreat is to Con, I'll take the liberty of ordering that retreat. Sultan Davitchenko, if you instead wish to retreat OTB, please let me know right away.
The fall 1902 deadline will be next Thursday 1/17 at 3pm Central (US). I want to give everyone fair warning that my work schedule is getting much busier, so I may not send out a receipt as quickly as I would like. Thanks!
Cory

So we will progress with the Winter Builds. I will call the deadline for Monday, Jan 14 (at) 9pm East Coast US time

Hey folks,
Just a heads-up that the extended Fall 1867 deadline falls in just under 21.5 hours. I still remain short 5 sets of orders.. Colour me nervous. =)

DC152 (wb0817) - Fall 1901 - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hi folks,
Interesting moves all around as the board begins to take shape. Everyone gains at least one build from the first year - as per tourney rules the deadline for Winter 1901 adjustments will be set for Friday, January 11th (11:59 PM GMT).
A note about the Austrian fleet order. I adjudicated this order as valid after consultation with the Tournament Directors. The question was whether the omission of the province that the fleet was in rendered the move order invalid.
Going back to the basic diplomacy rule-book, it says that "[u:d127727583]a poorly written order that has only one meaning must be accepted.[/u:d127727583]" As Austria has only one fleet, and can only be ordering for one fleet, this order only has one meaning and is valid. Note that if Austria had had MORE than one fleet, then this would have been an ambiguous order and ruled invalid. (The diplomacy rules can be found at < http://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy.pdf> and the page that the quotation may be found on is page 4.)
I, of course, welcome all your opinions on this matter and any of the rest of the adjudication. My ruling on the validity of the Austrian fleet order, however, is final.
Cheers!

DC138 - Correct Peruvian Fleet Positioning - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
My thanks to the players who raised this point. It appears your humble GM suffered a little confusion when positioning the Peruvian fleets in the Spring moves.
Peru ordered Pan -> Cob. Please find attached the corrected Summer map and Peru Unit Breakdown. Apologies for that error.
Cheers!
