Dci 2007 Final Standings. - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Here are the final standings for the 2007 DCI.
I would like to congratulate Mike Sims who is this year's winner. From achieving a magnificant solo in the first game against 6 very strong players, Mike was able to force the second no press gunboat game into a Draw which netted him a final win in the DCI over Mikael. Due to some discrepancies and strong emotions, i will be changing the structure of the DCI next year. However as long as Mike is an active member of DC, he has automatically qualified for the 2008 DCI.
I would like to thank Mike, Erik, felix and Mikael for playing out the second game.
Congratulations to Mike, Trout and Mikael for their draw in Dc131.
I would like to thank Trout for GMing the first game and for stepping in when no-one else would in the second game.
The official standings are;
In 1st place and 2007 Dci winner on a score of 14 is Mike.
In 2nd place on a score of 10 is Mikael.
In 3rd place on a score of 9 is Former Trout.
In 4th place on a score of 5 is Felix.
In 5th place on a score of 4.5 is Eric.
In 6th place on a score of 3.5 is Kevin.
In 7th place on a score of 2 is Ray.
In 8th place on a score of 1 is Stephen.
Congratulations Mike. The question is whether you can now hold the title in 2008.

DC152 (wb0817) - Winter 1902 - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hi folks,
Well, I officially made a dogs lunch of the Fall 1902 adjudication. On top of the previous errors, on the RP file I mistakenly ordered Englands Irish Sea fleet to North Atlantic, rather than the Mid Atlantic as submitted. This caused a map error where the map showed a French fleet in the Mid Atlantic. The written adjudication showed correctly.
Luckily, this error was caught prior to this Winter adjudication and I have adjusted the map to correct it.
Unfortunately, despite this delay, I still have no winter orders from Austria. I have thus retreated the Greece fleet OTB.
My most humble apologies for the disastrous Fall 02 adjudication. I fervently promise that this will not happen again in this game. Thanks to all of you guys for your patience and understanding. =)
Winter adjudication below. Please let me know if you spot any errors...

DCI & dc131 Chilean EGS - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Hey guys,
From the start and the fast opening, I had pegged Brazil as Mikael… tho I had Argentina and Colombia switched. I thought it was Eric that was relentlessly attacking me but it was Felix. Once Felix got that opening move into Pam, I was horribly bottled up for the rest of the game. I got some really lucky guesses all throughout that kept me from collapsing, and eventually pushed him back bit by bit. That’s the whole of the game for me… 7 years of barely skating by each turn, hoping that either Brazil would hit Argentina from the north, or Colombia would collapse fast enough that Argentina would either have to turn or the game would be a solo.
Then Trout took, I supported him a couple times, and we put up a wall that I’m pretty sure was safe. Tho there were a few guess-points in it still around Yun / Prg, I think Brazil’s lack of a Pacific fleet would have been a pretty heavy counterweight. As for playing Chile, this power sucks! That long thing strip of land is so incredibly hard to defend.
Overall good game, I’m happy to be alive in it.
My notes to Steve revolving around the dci scoring… As I said to you, had Mikael soloed this game, he would have won the dci outright… so a solo / 2nd vs a 2nd / solo, the 2nd / solo would win, instead of the two players tieing. There should be a simple fix to that in the scoring, tho it was unquestionably caused by the smaller map round 2, and so some changes had to be made to make it worth playing.
For the one gunboat game I will endure per year, it was fun…
Good game all,
-mike

DC116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 1910 - Twin Cinema - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Attack south, the Tsar exhorted
North, north the Sultan retorted
A true bureaucrat
The Archduke stood pat
And by all, he found, was supported
---------------------------------------------------
Everyone loves Austria seems to be the theme of the day. Russia moves to claim open territory in the north and England and Italy continue their dance in Spain and southern France. There was one retreat after the Fall moves, but as the Italian fleet in Spain had only the Gulf of Lyons to retreat to I took the liberty. (Neil, if OTB is preferred please just let me know.)
Oddly enough, it is our two arch-rivals that both gain a build in the Winter. Both Russia and Turkey build one. Deadline for Winter 1910 adjustments will be set for Monday, January 21st (11:59 PM GMT).
We have reached the end of another CD with the last adjudication as well. With the Summer moves, Charlotte Gainsburg's album 5:55 wound to a close. Another CD has been spun onto the rack and we'll kick it off with Twin Cinema. =P
As always, if you spot an error please just let me know. Cheers folks!

Dc120 : Deadline change - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Dc120 Fall 1907 is due Friday 26th, 8pm American EST.
This is your current deadline but the problem is I am attending the Australian Diplomacy Championships during this time.
I will not be in internet access Thursday 25th till at least Tuesday 28th.
if you want to submit sets of 'final' moves earlier in the week.. i can adjudicate before I leave
(approx 24 hours before the deadline).. if not.. you are going to have to wait until I return.

Hi folks,
We'll extend the deadline till this evening while I try to gather Andy's Winter build. All other build orders are now locked. As this is not a major season (i.e. Spring or Fall) it will not count as Andy's grace period. However, if no orders are forth-coming by this evening we will NBR the Heartland and move forward.
Cheers,
Trout
