Your disclaimer note was the most creative thing you've done.

I don't have the time to think of a creatively inspiring blurb for you today, but feel free to think of your own, and re-forward to yourself to be pleasantly surprised.

DC465 Blitzkrieg needs England - cbconnell   (Sep 09, 2013, 10:28 pm)
Our first deadline has just past, with no response from our England. Unlike standard games, England has the advantage - 5 units split between GB and Egypt.

Please review game start email in the game forum for more details on this variation.

Thanks!

DC464 Fall 1901 - Zoterik   (Sep 09, 2013, 1:47 pm)
The moment of truth arrives!  Foreign Office telegrammes arrive in the offices of the heads of state and government while the common folk rush to get the evening newspaper for the latest official truths.  These are the headlines of October 1901:

Relief and uncertainty pervade Copenhagen as the city is passed over in favor of neighboring Sweden by the conquering German fleet.
Greece is under siege by Turks and Italians with Austrian support, but the battle resulted in a stalemate.
The Italians in Piedmont frighten the French, who frighten the Germans, who allow the English to conquer the Belgians.
With free reign over the Black Sea, the Sultan makes the wrong choice.  Or did he?

Winter 1901 builds are due 14 September, 08:00 GMT.  You can find the adjustments beneath the orders.

One point that new players to DC might not be used to:   there are no default builds or retreats.  If you don't send a retreat order your retreats go Off The Board (OTB), and if you don't send build orders, you don't build.

I will generally give about a week between major turns (spring/fall), and I don't usually make deadlines on weekends.  This isn't written in stone or anything, the players can influence me to move faster or slower, within reason.

PLEASE pay attention to your subject lines in any email that you want me to actually see.  Like your orders!!  The subject line should include:

The game number, DC 463.
Your country
The season and year, and version of your orders if there is more than one.

Example:  DC 463, Austria, Spring 1901 (2)

The (2) indicates that this is the second iteration of Austria's spring 1901 orders.

If you have ANY questions or uncertainties, don't hesitate to send me a note.

At the bottom of this mail I've pasted the player details as DC sends them to me. Hopefully everyone is happy with their country, they were determined randomly after a close vote.

Our first deadline:

Spring 1901 will be due on Monday, September 16th, 18:00 Mountain time.  I think I am GMT -7 right now.

GOOD LUCK, looking forward to it,

So we're back to six, sorry guys.  I'll get the game back to recruiting on the DC site, shouldn't take long.

Okay, I found a confirmation from Jakob, my bad, I just missed it in my inbox for some reason.  So we now have SEVEN, including Alfred.  There are a couple of people, including Jakob, that have not mentioned how they would like countries assigned, so I'm waiting until tomorrow or so to actually start.  Remember, no matter which method you prefer you can still send me a preference list, just in case the decision goes that way.

Until tomorrow evening....

Okay group, I still haven't heard from either Jacob or Jakob, which leaves us at six including Alfred.

I'm sending a note individually to each, hopefully my group mails are going to spam folders or something.

Now, the starting countries......    I've got two that want random, two that want to use preferences, one that doesn't care, and one that hasn't told me.

So it's tied!!  We shall see what the final player says, and maybe if you're the individual that hasn't told me, you could do so.

More soon I hope

Hey gang,

Well John was very quick at getting us set up, so we are now DC 463.  John please confirm that our mail address for the game is dc463(at)diplomaticcorp.com.  That's what I'm using.

Anyhow, the reason for this note is that someone has sent me a list of preferred countries to play, which normally I don't use.  I like to choose them randomly.  BUT, I'm open to suggestions here. If I get enough protest I could be persuaded to change my method.

FYI, I use the house rules at DC for my games.  Please read them and ask questions if you have them.  I will send a bunch more details about the game structure and stuff once we get going.

Hi Group,

Thanks to all 8 of you for signing up.  John, I have CCd you on this mail because you recently admitted to me that you were now a moderator on DC, and I wanted to get one of you in the loop and let you know that we will need a game number soon.  If you're not the guy.... please let me know who I should get in touch with.

For all you potential players.  You MUST REPLY to this e-mail to confirm you willingness/desire to play.  I have 8 people signed up (quite a flurry at the end there....), so one of you may get bumped to the next one if all 8 of you confirm that you're still in.  The last one to sign up obviously, which I believe is Alfred.

Anyhow, get back to me ASAP, I'll have lots of time this weekend I hope.

Warren

Warren

Okay, Jakob is in, but we've had a withdrawal.... and I still haven't heard from Jacob.

So we're back to six, sorry guys.  I'll get the game back to recruiting on the DC site, shouldn't take long.

Hang in there,

Warren

Okay, I found a confirmation from Jakob, my bad, I just missed it in my inbox for some reason.  So we now have SEVEN, including Alfred.  There are a couple of people, including Jakob, that have not mentioned how they would like countries assigned, so I'm waiting until tomorrow or so to actually start.  Remember, no matter which method you prefer you can still send me a preference list, just in case the decision goes that way.

Until tomorrow evening....

Warren

I just completed my first game, ejoyed it quite a bit. Tried to sign up for another but the response I get each time is that I am a new member who has not completed a game yet and cannot sign up for another. I confirmed with the GM of the completed game that it is indeed over. How does a new guy get into another game??

DC465 Blitzkrieg game start - cbconnell   (Sep 04, 2013, 2:32 pm)
We've got eight confirmed players, so we're ready to play! I am still waiting for a game number, but we can go ahead for now without it.

Our player are as follows:
ID-Country-Name-Email-Location
alwayshunted-Spain-Warren Fleming-alwayshunted(at)hotmail.com-Alberta Beach, AB, CA
beebs-England-Steven lambert-lamborino19(at)yahoo.com-Gilbert, AZ, US
bret_pollack-Balkans-Bret Pollack-bpollack92(at)gmail.com-Marriottsville, MD, US
Githraine-Italy-Jason K-Githraine(at)yahoo.com-Havertown, PA, US
MattKelly-Russia-Matthew Kelly-kelly058(at)verizon.net-Fredericksburg, VA, US
m_don_j-Turkey-Mikael Johansson-m_don_j(at)hotmail.com-SE
Rommel-France-Eugen Daddy-bpetkovski(at)ymail.com-Bellow the sky , AL
savwa4-Germany-Jim Atkins-savwa4(at)comcast.net-SF Bay, CA, US

To reiterate: Blitzkrieg adds an another player playing as Spain and the balance of power is different as well: England has 5 units, France 4 units, Germany 4 units and Turkey has 4 units (the other countries remain the same as the Standard game). This game will also be using "imperial builds" - new units can be built in any supply center controlled by you. This new map contains land bridges for armies to cross, plus makes Switzerland AND Sweden impassable.

Since there are 53 supply centers, 27 will be required to win the game solo. This could be a long game.

Our first move deadline will be Monday, Sept 9 at 8:30 PM MDT (10-09-13 03:30 GMT)

A couple of notes:

1. Be sure to check out the house rules, which are linked from the page of the game and included on this email.

2. The facility to send anonymous messages exists (gray press) - just forward me the message you want sent, and I'll pass it on.

3. I'd encourage you to send preliminary orders in - you never know when technology will let you down or you'll be caught without email access!

4. Any questions about the game or rules I'm happy to help - just drop me an email

5. I attached the Realpolitik variant file for your own use while playing.

Since this is a new map and there are some changes, I wanted to publish a list of all the official territories and their abbreviations that are used:

DC456 Imperium - Fall 408 - Zoterik   (Sep 04, 2013, 4:41 am)
Well, I'm not really certain what's going on here.  In the East, the Gothi put themselves in a difficult situation, losing Athens, losing the Mediterranean, and putting themselves completely out of position in Crimea.  And in the West, nothing happened.  The only logical explanation is that Pete and Dan must have some sort of magic mind control.  And while they both are doing quite well, we still have our two EGPs to vote on.  Votes must come from all active players, so if the Franci and Saxones NMR again, that means we have only three active players, and a potential draw controversy.  Remember that if both are accepted, as they include the same number of players, I will accept the earliest proposed.

EGP №1: Alamanni/Vandali

EGP №2: Gothi/Vandali

One unit needs a retreat.  I hope the Gothi can manage it as quickly as possible, and I have included adjustments for your viewing pleasure as well.

Autumn 408 retreat due 6 September at 08:00 GMT or when submitted.

DC455 Aberration - Spring 1908 - Zoterik   (Sep 04, 2013, 4:02 am)
Headlines from around the Continent:

BUDAPEST ??? Violent crowds have seized the royal palace and declared a Hungarian Republic, causing a civil war in the capital city between the people and the army. ??The main cause for the revolution appears to be the complete absence of leadership but the effect is that Hungarians are shooting upon each other whilst Sicilian and Polish forces advance unhindered upon the capital city. ??

POOLE, WESSEX ??? The Spanish fleet defending their conquered territory in Britain departed port bound for the Atlantic Ocean, further signifying the major shift in alliances following the collapse of Poland's prime ally. ??The absence of fleets in the North Sea and cooperative operations between Polish and Burgundian ground forces headed for northern Italy may give Sicilian generals some headaches in years to come.

CONSTAN??A, RUMANIA ??? The Polish garrison in this port city was surprised and rapidly overtaken by the amphibious assault by Israelite forces from Georgia, supported by naval bombardment from the Sicilian fleet in Varna, Bulgaria. ??The action solidifies the status of the Black Sea as an Israelite lake, despite the continued operations of Byzantine naval forces in support of said Israelites. ??The Polish forces were forced to retreat into the mountains of Transylvania.??

PALERMO ??? Crowds cheered the Israelite navy steaming towards the western Mediterranean, as the alliance between Sicily and Israel, which to many appeared impossible, continues to project power with strength and efficiency. ??Whether the pact may have the strength to take on the new Polish-Spanish alliance, remains to be seen. ??

Warren

Dc464 Spring 1901 - Zoterik   (Sep 02, 2013, 12:20 pm)
First on the agenda, a small change of designation.  For various reasons, our game is not DC462, but 464.  Please keep this in mind; your orders submitted should reflect the proper number but in practice I'm not so picky.

Second, those pesky orders.  I do not want to spend this game chasing down players for their orders.  I implore you to submit preliminary orders immediately!  You can change your orders as many times as you like, so don't be shy!

So, on to our game!  There are some intriguing headlines for you to discover as you peruse the orders below, and some public press to decypher.  The press I put under the same Swiss heading all the time, and the origin is left unknown.  (Indeed, I don't remember who sent it!)  By my own observations, I am most intrigued by what the Russian army in Rumania might do, and to where England might expand.

Fall 1901 orders are due 9 September at 08:00 GMT.  Don't be late!

Zürcher Zeitung
The Austrian Empire seems unable to renew itself, hence the Russian, Turkish and Italian governments have decided that they are to be removed from the map so progress can be made.

Also in the news, France and Germany have made a secret pact to take on the might of the English lion.
