DC101 - Update - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Our German player has NMR'd twice now, and has stopped responding to my emails. At this point I have no choice but to replace him. Unfortunately there is not enough time for me to secure another player before I leave on vacation, so I wanted to check with the rest of you on what you would like to do. Here are the options as I see them.
1. Pause DC101 until I return from vacation, upon which point I will start looking for a replacement for Germany.
2. End the game here, voting upon who wins.
3. If another GM is willing, I could ask one of them to find a replacement for me and continue the game until I get back on the 8th of Dec.
Please let me know asap as to what you would like to do. I am leaving Thursday mid-morning... if I have not heard from enough of you by then I will pause the game until I return from Europe.

All,
I don't think this game would survive another hold. I'm biased I know, but I think the easiest way is to put him in cd, unless you can line up a replacement with lightning speed.

Japanese Diplomacy - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
I've created a map of Japan including Korea as well as parts of China and Russia with 38 supply centres. Not particularly true to life politically but with scope, I hope, for decent gameplay.
I've been wanting to play on a map of this type for a while but unfortunately haven't found one suitable, the Sengoku map not dealing with the mainland countries of Asia.
However I do need some help to create an RP file for it as well as suitable territory names. Any help or advice would be appreciated, and once done I would be happy to GM a trial of it.

I would cut down on a few of those sea territories, but other then that, you need to make a border version of the map (B&W border lines only) and then build a mapping file. RP has a really good help file on everything you need to do.

DC112 spring 1907 deadline extension - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
We have had a player request for an extension of the spring 1907 deadline. With the US Thanksgiving holiday rapidly approaching, I'll skip ahead and reset the deadline a full week from now, Tuesday 11/27 at 3pm Central (US). Enjoy your ham and stuffing -- Andrew has already claimed the turkey for himself.
Also, our game is the next one to switch over to the forum system. For those who have not already checked this out, go to the club website (www.diplomaticcorp.com) and click on 'Message Board' at the top of the screen, where you will find the forum. I believe Mike Sims has posted some notes as to the steps required to sign up for it. If you have any trouble though, please just let me know. This will be the last of my game e-mails sent to the Yahoo group site.

For what it's worth, if I had a vote on this one I'd personally like to see this game finish out. A replacement for Germany would be preferable to CD, which would be preferable to ending DC101 early.
One way or the other, I'm happy to continue or end depending on what you; the players, would rather do.

Next FOW - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
If anybody out there in dc118 or dc122 would NOT want to play in next year’s FOW but would rather help critique and pseudo-play-test the map, pls let me know in private.
For those interested, next year’s fog will be a 19-player mega-fog.
Note this game will start out gunboat style… (a suggestion many have asked for) You will only learn who your neighbors are as you discover them. You won’t know who’s playing pre-game until you meet them in-game. (and then it’s open diplomacy w those civilizations you’ve met).
Again pls let me know in private, not public post.

DC129 In Rainbows - Spring 1902 - Weird Fishes - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Turn me on to phantoms
I follow to the edge of the earth
And fall off
Everybody leaves
If they get the chance
And this is my chance...
-------------------------------------
Bounces all across the board as the smoke from Spring 1902 clears. Austria and Russia once again spar over Galicia, St. Petersburg turns into a battleground between England and Russia and in the forests of Ruhr the French and the Germans lock horns. In more successful attacks, the English pry their way into Holland while Italy scoots across the Ionian into Greece.
Two retreats were required after Spring - one an auto-retreat and the other an automatic disband. I auto-retreated the German army in Holland to Kiel as it was the only option - however, if OTB is preferred Alex, please just let me know. Not as lucky, the Turkish army in Greece was removed from the board. Which leads us to the Fall deadline schedule. Orders will be due by Thursday, November 29th (11:59 PM GMT). The deadline is a little longer this turn as Ricardo has just gotten word to me that he is dealing with a family illness.
Also, please note that although it had no real bearing on the game, there were two misorders in this batch of turns.
- Russia ordered a support for NOR from Sweden. The abbreviation NOR could be taken for Norway, North Sea or Norwegian Sea. Although no such attack was ordered, if it had been the Russian support would have been void.
- Germany ordered a fleet move from their unit in Holland when that unit was actually an army. Once again, as per the house rules an incorrect unit designation voids the order.
If I catch these types of mistakes before the adjudication, I will bring them to the players attention. However, I do not always have time to review orders, and thus this should not be relied on. Please always proof-read your orders with the understanding that I will NOT be interpreting what is written... I adjudicate as per what is written in the email.
So - that is that. Please shout out if you spot any errors. Cheers guys!

For those who don't read past the subject line on warning emails, I'll reiterate
my reminder that end-game proposals are now allowed to be submitted to be voted

this process.

Hi everyone,
Please give a hearty welcome to Bret who is stepping in to helm the forces of the rising sun. Bret has been good enough to take up the position and allow us to keep this baby running. His email is bret_pollack(at)hotmail.com (bret_pollack(at)hotmail.com)
We have an interesting situation before us now, timing-wise. I'd like to give Bret at least a couple days to negotiate - but we have a couple players that will be without access from Nov 20 to Nov 28.
So I'd like to reschedule the Spring 1866 deadline for the middle of that time period. I realize that gives an adjudication in the middle of two players absences, but hopefully this will be acceptable due to the 're-do' nature of this turn. If not, just let me know and we can revise the deadline. Otherwise, please have any revised orders in by Friday, Nov 23rd (11:59 PM GMT.)
Thanks again for the patience everyone!

Hey, while I somewhat agree that's not 'entirely' fair...
We have twelve VERY consistent and reliable players in the field on this one. It's just unfortunate that half of them are replacements... =P
