dc157 Fall 1906 Results - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Long overdue, but here it is....
I need a retreat by German from Denmark to either Baltic Sea or Skagerrak.
I need a retreat by Russia from Moscow to either Livonia or St. Petersburg, plus I need 1 unit disbanded. (you may choose to disband instead of retreating.)
I need a build by England.
I need a build by Austria. (as soon as you can.)
Conditional builds based on retreats are allowed, but I don't think it will be greatly affected.
I am trying to work with at least two vacation schedules. Austria might not have internet until Monday and England will lose it after Monday. We will see what we can do.
Retreats and builds are due by Sunday 29 July 2008 8pm EST. (with the understanding that Austria might not get access in time and thus I may have to wait a bit.)

thanks to all and to all a good night - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
wow, neat, far out, turkey pulled out the win. better to be lucky i guess. my first game in 25 or so years at all... and first on dip corp and... wow, solo? still find it hard to believe.
a special thanks to paolo our game master or as i like to say... god (with a little g). if the rest of the game masters are as understanding then this is a great web site. any questions i had answered with clarity (and rule book page numbers and rule numbers and paragraph). and i even got to point out map issues which i think was done just to see if we (the players) are paying attention.
thanks to the other players. jake in austria who had to leave late in the game. but when all said an austrian-turkish partnership could not work we proved it could, and i was one of the biggest doubters. always waiting for the knife in the back. then to germany, hi dean, i was ready to share then... what the heck, you did a hell of a job and as a replacement player. tom in france with one unit for how many turns? amazing how that works. the russian and italians that fell early both stuck it out when all was lost so a toast to them also. the thing i am most proud of was i almost played the whole game with out a knife. when i landed a turkish army in liverpool from greece, i did tell england that i had know reason to go north of the mid atlantic and that's when the knife came out. sorry england but a six fleet convoy was way to hard to pass up.
mostly my first game in so long, and i had every break i could. from guessing right on the first fall and preventing the russians from building a fleet in sevestapol. to austria having to leave at the most opportune time for turkey to solo. better to be lucky than good.
one last thing.. to dean...i did have fun storming the castle.
cheers to all,
the sultan of the ott-omens (omens, only good ones this game)

dc177 reminder - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Just wanted to say -
It was a pleasure playing with Joe (England) though We never got to consumate a friendship in this game, I absolutely appreciated his tenacity - his unwillingness to give up - and his continued efforts to turn me against Germany. He was also a superb tactician, that even to his last breath managed to make the utmost of his limited maneuverability. Joe, I do hope we meet again on the game board.
regards.

Italy, having already used his grace, NMRs, and as a result loses Bud and Tun to invading forces. In other news we have our first eliminations, as England and Austria bow out of the game. Thanks to Joe and Mike for their participation. And lastly I'd like everyone to take an extra second to appreciate the battle of wits that went on over Edi this turn, in which France gained the upper hand.
There were only two retreats: Italy had only one option, Bud - Tri, so that has been done automatically, and Austria is eliminated so his unit has been cleared from the board.
Thus we move directly to Winter 1904, which is due this coming Monday, June 30, at 9 pm eastern. Adjustments due are listed below the adjudication.

German troops in Berlin were squashed by Russian troops and had nowhere to go.
Meanwhile in the Mediterranean, Austria and Italy seem to be so keen on conquering eachother's Home SCs that both may succeed.
France is giving England a hard time to regain its land but England succeeded this time to land its troops in Holland.
Russia is moving further West except for one unit in Armenia; supply-line nightmares?

Danes to Frisians: happy for us both to head for the big island. Just pull back from HEL and we can leave it as a dmz. Further conflict between us looks unlikely to me to benefit either of us.
Danes to Norse: SKA to move west soon?
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
Welsh, you shouldn’t say things you don’t intend to keep. We will not attack you, and see if you “follow our lead”. However as history indicates, the Welsh will continue to press their attack:
Year 1: The Irish offered to demilitarize the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" />Irish Sea. The Irish opened away from the Welsh.
Year 1: The Welsh built up naval forces, and attacked the Irish Sea in force.
Year 2: The Irish again offered to demilitarize the Irish Sea.
Year 2: The Welsh attempted to invade St.
Please stop saying you’ll follow our lead unless you mean it, for your words are worth less with every untruth.
Ireland
Angles, support can no longer be guaranteed until your fleet can cut Sus.
Scots, this is your year, even if you leave the Irish problem to me. Very nice.
Britons, I'm relieved by all of your reassurances.
-Wales
Saxons to Neighbors:
Please note - I built a FLEET. I am trying desperately to get peace. I have no desire to fight the two of you and do not understand why the Angles have chosen to attack me while making peace with the Welsh. I have done nothing more than defend myself and have tried to be non-aggressive EXCEPT where warranted by defensive needs. I did NOT bounce anyone in the first round and put no moves forth that showed aggression. Why do you insist on continued attacks? If we would put our differences aside we could gain much. Others have become embroiled in some interesting wars and that gives us opportunity. Please stop this foolish attack on my homeland.
Saxons to Anyone:
Still need HELP. If I fall, how long before the Angles and Welsh become dominate?
Norse press..... to Picts and Scots... Picts. 2 fleet builds by yourself is hardly friendly towards me and your move this turn was an attack rather than defensive. If you want peace then pull back. Trying to get Scots to help you is a bit rich considering that you attacked him. Scots. If you want a peace of him then make the move and I will support you against him if he does not pull back from me.

DC166 - English Solo Declared - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
PEACE!!
I guess rumours of the diplomatic corps headquarters being bombed were over-stated, after all. Well, at least the damage to the building was that is. We find the table containing the various peace proposals still intact, and in fact there are mutual agreements on declaring an English solo.
And so, the war ends. Congratulations to Nigel for his second solo victory in the Blitz. Hats off also go to Max and Clark for surviving till the end, as well as to all the players for their efforts. I have to say that this has been a very interesting game to run and to observe. End-of-game statements are, of course, very welcome. =)
Cheers everyone! See you all in next years Winter Blitz! =)

DC135 Fall 1910 Deadline Reminder - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Heya folks,
Hope you guys are all rocking and rolling here on the weekend. Please don't forget in the middle of all that, though, to make sure that your Fall 1910 orders are in. Deadline is in just under 18 hours.
Cheers!

DC138 WOOD - Fall 2011 Reminder - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Heya you crazy WOODers,
Please don't forget that orders for Fall 2011 are due in just under 18 hours. I believe that I have votes from everyone concerning the end-game proposals - but there are still one or two order sets out there still to come in. Please fire them on in, if all three proposals fail I will need orders from everyone to push out the turn.
Cheers gang!

DC166 - English Solo Declared - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Just a brief note (I'll write a fuller EGS later) to say thanks to Mike for running the tournament, Trout for GMing and everyone for playing. Only my second game on the site, and the standard of play is very high - great to see few nmrs and people fighting on to the end. The high number of solos overall says to me we are a very determined bunch.
cheers
Nigs

WWIV s01 results! All things considered... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Apologies from Columbia.
Columbia to all nations:-
We would like to apologise for our quiet and distinct lack of communication over the past week. There has
been many real life demands made on our columbian leader (El Penguino) and he just has barely been
keeping a float on the demands of the new fangled email system. However this should be recitifed by
tomorrow and he assures me that he will be writing lots of emails to explain moves and discuss future plans.
Please do not take our silence for anything more than a busy leader.

All things considered, a relatively peaceful start!
2 bounces to note: Argentina and Brazil stand off over the Southwest Atlantic, while Asia and Iran bump in Ashgabat. One failed order, the Japanese navy gets marooned in port while the Philippines take the NPS by force. Other than those, all others succeed as ordered!
NEXT: Fall 01 – 1 week: Wed July 2, 10am Pacific / 5pm UTC!
Then Winter 01 (retreats and builds): Monday July 7, 10am Pacific. If you’re going to be away for the holiday, be sure to turn in conditional retreats and builds with your fall orders!
Enjoy,
-mike

Heya guys,
France tries the bait and switch around England and would have pulled it off, if not for those crazy kids in Munich and Holland and their crazy dog... =) Meanwhile, interesting alliances seem to be forming in eastern Europe - we'll see where they head.
Two retreats are required before Winter adjustments - both due from France. Early Winter 1910 retreats will be due Tuesday, July 1st (11:59 PM GMT).
If you spot any mistakes, please just drop me a line. Cheers everyone!

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Fall 2011 - Strun... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Heya gang,
Our fortune cookie for Fall 2011 tells us that "Confucius say: You have heart as big as Texas" I'll leave you to read into that what you will. =P
California gets slammed from every conceivable direction in the on-going battle - BC storming down from the north and Florida and Mexico in the midst of a resurgence. Meanwhile New York continues to lose ground bit by bit and Quebec continues to operate with impunity out of their base in Nova Scotia.
Two retreats are required once the ground stops shaking - one from California and one from Florida. Deadline for the Early Winter 2011 retreats will be set for Tuesday, July 1st (11:59 PM GMT). Meanwhile, all end-game proposals are defeated but British Columbia solo is proposed. Please have your yay or nay votes in to me with the Early Winter deadline - for Tuesday. As always, abstention will count as a no.
Cheers everyone. Let me know if you spot any mistakes.

Mike and Joe: Unless you request otherwise (by replying to this email
saying so), I am going to remove you two from the email list for all
future emails for this game so as to not clutter your inboxes. You will
receive the final adjudication so that you know the outcome of the game
and can submit and end-of-game statement. Thanks for playing, and hope
to see you in future games.
