*Russia Falls!*
*England still Alive, But the Cake is a Lie!*
*Italy and France Trade Iberian Centers*

Hey all,

A good year for the Germans. A Bad year for the Russians.

I didn't receive orders from either England or Russia, but I figure their orders would change little at this stage. That said, England holds on to its capital, though not much else. This winter should be pretty easy.

Austria: +1 (+Bur)
England: -1 (-edi, - Nwy, + disbanded army NWY in spring)
France: EVEN (+spa, - Por)
Germany: +3 (+Mos, +Nwy, +Edi)Italy: EVEN (+por, -spa)
Russia: -2 ELIMINATED (-Mos, -Bud)
Turkey: EVEN

Thanks all!

Thanks for the game, all. I got busy and forgot to submit orders, this wasn't a protest NMR. As John suggests, the orders I had plan would have made no difference.

dc482 SP14 Turkey end Game - hapolley   (Apr 29, 2014, 10:17 am)
This was a well and very hard fought game by all players.  I have never been able to establish a IT alliance in any game while both parties held all there home SC. Ben's co-operation and sound advice made this happen for first time.  I aways thought it would work very well and it did. However it required more trust than other alliance possibles on the Board. The 'go for solo' would have worked if the other players, Derek and Mike and myself, did not get over past conflicts and unite to attempt a 4 way.  That is the true sign of great Diplomacy Players; they can adapt to the realities of the game.  I do not count myself among that lot as more than once I have allowed past grievances to affect my judgment.  I must try to do better in this regard.
I hope to see all the other players at the top of round 2 in points, perhaps one will even find way to win. Hamish; thank you once again for your excellent Game Master services.  The hobby from its founding has depended upon those like yourself who give there free time and efforts to the Game Master position.
With Warm
Regards!

*The British Isles Celebrate Cultural Diversity!*
*Budapest Changes Hands Again*
*Turkey Uses Defend... It's Not Very Effective.*

Hey all,

The big winners this season to be the central powers. Germany kicks England out of Norway while also nabbing Edi. Austria seems to have smoothed over things with Italy and reclaims it's home center. Italy doesn't make huge gains, but at least it's moves succeed. The corner powers do less well. England is on the ropes. France fails at almost every attack. Russia's barely hanging on. And even the mighty Turk loses a center in spite of an impressive defense.

Rumania only had one option for retreat, so Turkish F Rum-Bla.

Thanks all! See ya Thursday!

John

Y'know, it's funny that some folks choose to abandon a game.....  like they think it doesn't reflect badly on them, or affect others that are counting on, at the least, their participation, but why does it somehow become so difficult to send a note.  If it's a personal problem we all understand. It's the un-explained ones that I don't get.  Let us know people!

So three nmrs this turn. No big surprise considering the track record.
I've gone to the trouble of making them all hold, though I might not bother in the future.

I need a retreat from Germany tomorrow, though maybe I won't bother to process it.

DC478 Anselm’s Ontology Fall 1907 - Game End - garry.bledsoe   (Apr 28, 2014, 6:52 pm)
Hi all,Well I feel like the luckiest player around. I fill in for John and I immediately get rewarded by being a part of a draw!
Honestly I am surprised to see it pass. I expected this game to carry on for a while given that, in my estimation, IT had FG dead-to-rights. It would have been very interesting to see how this one played out given that Italy or Turkey would ultimately have been tempted to stab to go for the solo (heck I was banking on it); it was really my only hope to get anything from the game and even then I expected it to be tough. So I naturally voted for what I saw as a good outcome given the position but I only did so because I didn't expect it to pass.
Sorry I didn't get to play more with you guys and I am sure that I owe John C. all the thanks/glory for getting this. All I did was push a few emails and hope that I wasn't going to get steam-rolled!
Thanks for the brief chats.Garry

Please accept my apologies for feeding the bear so much. My only hope is all the baklava and Turkish coffee will give him indigestion.

dc442 Pirate EOG - jgramoll   (Apr 28, 2014, 1:36 pm)
Thank you all for a very interesting and enjoyable game, especially Mike for all his time and effort. This was my first Haven game and I felt I was fortunate to draw the Pirate position. Things started well except that the Nomads were insistent about taking Neverpeak Mtn and I think the Tom(Archers) encouraged them in order to keep them out of Duloc. So I forged an alliance with the Hobbits and Wizards and moved north in an effort to keep the Nomads from establishing a strong center. I was hopeful that after removing the Nomads from the area I could reach an agreement with the Archer/Gnome alliance, but alas this proved futile because the disarray in the north allowed the Archer/Gnome alliance to move south in force. It was all I could do to hold them back while I tried to get help. By this time the Barbarians and Faeries were both in trouble and were not able to take much pressure off me. However my alliance with the Wizards and Hobbits was strong and they were both in a position and promised to bring some help north.  That hope ended with the Hobbit stab of the Wizards, and while Derek’s stab was a tactical masterpiece, I believe strategically it was his (and my) undoing. BTW Warren I was not complicit in Derek’s stab, but after it was done I had no choice but to continue working with Derek, as he was my only hope for immediate help against the Archer/Gnomes. Then when Garry’s Elves stabbed the Hobbits my fate was sealed, but I fought on as best I could.  Couple of closing thoughts. Even though they were my nemesis, Tom (Archers) and Timmy(Gnomes) both did a great job with cooperating within their alliance. I enjoyed working with Warren and Derek. And Rolfs recovering from what I thought was a sure death was remarkable.  Thanks again to all for a great experience and I hope to engage you all again soon! Jim G  From: Michael Sims [mailto:mike(at)fuzzylogicllc.com]

Subject: dc442 s25 results - DRAW! There you have it!  24.5 years played, 4-way LEAK draw.  Tim of the Gnomes and Pat of the Dwarves manage survivals.  483 days. It's the longest Haven game ever (by turns)... previous was dc224 at 20.5 years... but shorter in real life time, as dc224 took 575 days to do those 20 years... about 100 days longer!  This game falls shy of any "overall" records, as dc92 cleanly retains both, for a game that went 36 years over 595 days.  I think this game comes in at 3rd overall, behind dc92 at 36 years and dc122 at 29 years. EOG's are expected from all!   Next we're heading to Disney World in about 3 weeks... After the return from that, I'll start up the next Haven.  Smile  Might open it before, and let it gather joins up until it starts.Enjoy!!-mike
