DC224 - Spring 07 Corrections - former.trout   (May 30, 2009, 1:15 am)
Heya folks,

Just a couple notes about last nights adjudication:

1.  The Faerie fleet stationed in Gurgi was ordered to Land Of Sweets.  This might have been a GM error here.  The correct position of the fleet is in Land Of Sweets - an adjusted map will be sent out as soon as I can tomorrow.

2.  The Rogues dislodged from Cave Of Ordeals may also retreat to Hidden Grotto.  This option was not listed by Realworld, but is still a valid retreat.

Cheers,

Trout

Esteemed Trout,
Not trying to alter the rules mid-stream [ha...pun intended]. Just merely pointing out the pitfalls of playing with replacements. I am sure that all of us could have a quite spirited debate [as you and I have] about the merit of using replacements. Please assume that my message is a] part sour grapes; b] a sincere plea against replacements and, better yet, about the overall spirit of our site which is PLEASE play a game to play and don't bail which causes these issues.

We all love the spirit of the game and such things eat at the essence of it. That said, I knew your policy ahead of time and could have chosen to avoid a game with your house rules; I did not and must live with that. It happens; no worries. It is a game and I have still enjoyed it and still appreciate our tireless GM.

Heya folks,

Wow. The last couple of days its been ME who has had the internet difficulties. I'm a little red-faced and guess I have to apologize. But, without further delay, here is the Spring 07 results.

Which, unfortunately, do not turn out to be happy happy results for some of our Southern friends. The Elves and the Hobbits both get body-slammed in a big way. Meanwhile, the Rogues throw a key support cut which allows the Faeries to finally win out over the Knights. And the action heats up in the darker regions of the Underworld...

Six retreats are needed from the fray - three from the Elves, two from the Rogues and one from the beleagured Hobbits. Deadline for these retreats will be set for Sunday, May 31st (11:59 PM GMT). Sorry that this is a weekend deadline, but I'm hoping that we can squeeze it in.

As always, please let me know if you spot any mistakes. Since I'm running the adjudication in my new digs and away from Edmonton, I've temporarily reverted back to the original Realworld files. Hopefully this won't make a difference.

Cheers!

Heya folks,

Cheers!

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Spring 07 - Bad Rep... - garry.bledsoe   (May 29, 2009, 9:04 am)
Just my opinion, this is why allowing replacement players is a bad practice. I went from being in an okay position with allies to being eliminated [well, okay the Ogres had somewhat started it but it wasn't total destruction].

I am selling my remaining centers to the highest bidder. Any takers? I want out.

Just my opinion, this is why allowing replacement players is a bad practice. I went from being in an okay position with allies to being eliminated [well, okay the Ogres had somewhat started it but it wasn't total destruction].

I am selling my remaining centers to the highest bidder. Any takers? I want out.

Heya folks,

Cheers!

Just my opinion, this is why allowing replacement players is a bad practice. I went from being in an okay position with allies to being eliminated [well, okay the Ogres had somewhat started it but it wasn't total destruction].

I am selling my remaining centers to the highest bidder. Any takers? I want out.

Subject: DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Spring 07 - Bad Reputation

Heya folks,

Cheers!

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Vacation Delay - former.trout   (May 26, 2009, 11:55 pm)
Heya folks,

I'm sorry to sing this same old refrain, but our player away on vacation has not yet surfaced.  They told me that they would be back for the 26th, but with no orders received from them I guess that was not to be.

Giving an otherwise steadfast player the benefit of the doubt, I'm going to delay the turn a couple days maximum.  Hopefully our stray player will get in touch ASAP.

Thanks for the patience everyone.  =)

Just a reminder that our story is due to be spun out again tomorrow night.  Spring 07 orders are due in roughly 20 hours.  I'm still missing a couple sets, so if you don't have a confirmation from me then please resend your moves.

Thanks!

Hi fellow fairy-tale creatures.

The retreats turn is fast and quick, and mostly mentioned in the Subject Header...  The Archers restring their bows in Duloc, the Hobbits take their furry feet to Shining Stream and the Undead give up the ghost and retreat OTB.

Which moves us into Winter.  Deadline for adjustments will be set for Friday, May 15th (11:59 PM GMT).  Be there or be egg-shaped.  =P

Cheers all!

DC-224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Fall 06 - Stirring... - former.trout   (May 11, 2009, 8:20 pm)
Hey folks!
Well, we had some rough and tumble times, but at last we have a Fall 06 adjudication.  My thanks to all of you folks for your patience over the last couple weeks.  =)
On the board, Fionavar is again an unclaimed battleground as the Knights hold all the keys to the North.  The Wizards give the Pirates a hand into Fantastica, but the Archers return the favor by launching the Faeries to Myth Drannor.  Meanwhile, the Ogres rage on in the south but suffer a few setbacks at the hands of an Elvish led alliance.

Three retreats are needed after all is said and done - one each from the Archers, Undead and Hobbits.  Deadline for the Early Winter 06 retreats will be set for Wednesday, May 13th (11:59 PM GMT).

Let me know if you spot any errors.  Cheers all!

Okay - after a week of reaching out to my contacts I'm very, very happy to welcome Suzanne Castagne and Jason K to the game.  Suzanne has been good enough to step into the Undead position, and Jason is helping out by playing the role of the Knights temporarily.  I'm sure everyone will be nice and friendly and keep the knives sheethed for at least a turn.  =P

Concerning the Fall 06 deadline:  We'll push it forward to Monday, May 11th (11:59 PM GMT) in order to allow time for Jason and Suzanne to diplome with everyone.  And to that ends:

Wow... a lot has gone on in the past week... sorry for not being very communicative, but I was assuming that with my Fall orders it would be revealed that I was away until today, but those orders were never processed. I need sleep badly, but I will try to get to your emails before the deadline.

Heya folks,

Here's the latest times and tidings.  I have Fall 06 Orders from all but one player.  However, that player managed to use someone else's computer to send me word that their own gear had gone bye-bye.  They asked that I find a temporary replacement during the short stretch that is needed for the player in question to re-assemble their computer.

There are several candidates that might fit the bill for this, and I've already asked the most likely.  Hopefully I'll get word back soon and this will be a very short delay.  I will, of course, announce the temp. player once everything is arranged.  But in the interests of getting the Fall 06 turn out, I may ask for orders immediately without giving time to diplome.  If anyone feels strongly that this shouldn't be done, please let me know ASAP.

That's all that's fit to print.  Cheers everyone,

Trout

But then - just when it looked as though a good solid core of players remained, the GM started getting late orders being submitted by entirely different players... Who had up until then been right on time every turn and consist with their prelims.

Meanwhile, it was the remaining players - those who got their orders in usually the day after an adjudication came out - who suffered and had to grit their teeth at yet ANOTHER delayed adjudication.

The GM regrets any interpretations that the Leprechauns were one of the "problem children".  Let it be known that the Belchers were front and center and consistently sent in early prelims without an issue.

Now, please point that pint of warm swill in another direction.  =P
