Even with the extended deadline I did not receive orders from one
player. That player has been notified and his grace has been activated,
extending the deadline for 24 more hours for all players. So tomorrow 9
eastern is the final deadline; there will be no more extensions on this
lengthy turn!

remains this Thursday, August 26, at 9 pm eastern. I have received (and
confirmed) many adjustments already but I am still missing some; I am
hereby returning to my house rules on retreats and adjustments and will
adjudicate as soon as I have orders from all required parties. The new

So, just like that, we have a new England! Please welcome Aidan
Slattery (AiSlattery(at)aol.com) as the new commander of the dark blue
units. To give Aidan time to get acquainted with you all the next few
deadlines (through the Spring) are going to be a bit longer; however, as
always, should I received final orders from everyone before the deadline
I will adjudicate. First up will be Autumn 1903 retreats and Winter
1903 adjustments, which will be due together next Thursday, August 27,
at 9 pm eastern. For this autumn/winter only I am not going to treat
retreats and adjustments as final unless they are explicitly marked as
such because I want to make sure Aidan has ample opportunity to get up
to speed.

Hi Adam,
I know I'm not the GM here, but since he's on holiday, and hasn't had access regularily, so I thought I'd point you to a snippet of his house rules:3.Graces, NMR's, and Replacements-All players begin the game with one 24 hour grace period, which is activated the first time no moves are received from that player for
a movement season.The grace extendeds the deadline by 24 hours for ALL players.-Graces cannot and will not be used on retreat or adjustment phases.This explains why he did what he did, though I understand if you feel slighted by it, he's just following his own rules.The rest of the house rules can be found at http://diplomaticcorp.com/houserules/unitedfan1389.txt, if you're interested.I hope you stay in the game.William

Hi Adam,
I know I'm not the GM here, but since he's on holiday, and hasn't had access regularily, so I thought I'd point you to a snippet of his house rules:3.Graces, NMR's, and Replacements-All players begin the game with one 24 hour grace period, which is activated the first time no moves are received from that player for
a movement season.The grace extendeds the deadline by 24 hours for ALL players.-Graces cannot and will not be used on retreat or adjustment phases.This explains why he did what he did, though I understand if you feel slighted by it, he's just following his own rules.The rest of the house rules can be found at http://diplomaticcorp.com/houserules/unitedfan1389.txt, if you're interested.I hope you stay in the game.William

Sorry, but I'm out. Its one thing to lose, but you've given two grace periods to other players and England didn't get one earlier in the game on the critical first build.
That's a little bit ridiculous.

Hey guys,
Adam (England) has requested to be removed from the game due to my grace
period policy, with which he has decided he does not agree despite the
fact that it has been in my house rules since day one. Thus I am forced
to pause the game to search for a replacement; I do not want to even set
the retreat deadline because I want the replacement player to be able to
order England's two possible retreats since his winter situation is so
highly dependent on them. The DC Light Brigade is pretty good about
filling holes, even in situations like this that might be less than
desirable, so sit tight and we'll resume the game as soon as possible.

So, just like that, we have a new England! Please welcome Aidan
Slattery (AiSlattery(at)aol.com) as the new commander of the dark blue
units. To give Aidan time to get acquainted with you all the next few
deadlines (through the Spring) are going to be a bit longer; however, as
always, should I received final orders from everyone before the deadline
I will adjudicate. First up will be Autumn 1903 retreats and Winter
1903 adjustments, which will be due together next Thursday, August 27,
at 9 pm eastern. For this autumn/winter only I am not going to treat
retreats and adjustments as final unless they are explicitly marked as
such because I want to make sure Aidan has ample opportunity to get up
to speed.

that he had a lot of extra time after the deadline to submit orders
since I am on vacation and have not had internet access for the last
three days. That player has been notified, and the deadline has been
extended 24 hours from right now.
That means the new deadline for all is tomorrow, August 19, at 12 noon
eastern - note the time!

The Balkans really heat up this turn as Austria manages to reclaim
Budapest, disbanding Russia's army in the process, but loses Serbia to
Turkey, who also clashes with Russia in Rumania. In the west France
continues to struggle as Germany now finds himself in Brest and Gascony
and Italy forcibly takes the Gulf of Lyon. Things may be looking up for
England, however, as he seems positioned to reclaim Liverpool in the fall.
We have one retreat: French A Gulf of Lyon may retreat to Piedmont,
Tuscany, or OTB. The deadline for that will be tomorrow, Wednesday, at
9 eastern, but I will publish it as soon as I receive it. Fall 1903
will follow this coming Monday, August 17, at 9 pm eastern.

My apologies for not getting this out last night; the missing player,
Austria, got his orders in well before the extended deadline and then I
just forgot to send the results out last night. This season sees some
interesting happenings all over the board as the grace prevented an
Austrian NMR but not much else and Russia and Turkey each take a center
off of the Archduke, Italy takes Marseilles, England forces his way into
St. Petersburg, and Germany continues to grow.
We have two retreats: Austrian F Gre may retreat to Ion, Alb, or OTB,
and Russian F GoB may retreat to Fin, Lvn, or OTB. Those retreats and
the winter adjustments (adjustments due are listed below the
adjudication) will be due this Friday, August 7, at 9 pm eastern.
Adjustments may be submitted conditionally on the retreats.

Some interesting developments this turn as there is a ton of action in
the west, where France convoys an army to the British Isles, only to
find two German armies on his doorstep. German fleets also make headway
in the north, sweeping into Sweden and the Gulf of Bothnia. The action
is also heating up in the western Med, which suddenly finds itself full
of French and Italian fleets. The situation in the Balkans, however, is
the exact opposite, as no attacks occur whatsoever. Whether it's
because a rare peace has been brokered or all the powers are just too
afraid of each other, only time will tell.
There are no retreats, so we move directly to Fall 1902. That deadline
will be this coming Monday, August 3, at 9 pm eastern.

As expecting, nations around Europe break into conflict this season.
France makes a bid for London but is turned down by England's A York.
In the Balkans Austria and Turkey clash over Greece, with the former
succeeding due to support from his A Serbia. And in Scandinavia Germany
and Russia clash over Sweden, resulting in a bounce that I'm sure sits
better with the Kaiser than the Czar, as the former still claims Denmark
in addition to Holland and Belgium, resulting in three builds for the
units in black.

Again the deadline approaches and I don't have a full complement of

An interesting opening filled with an equal amount of peace and
hostility. Most of the latter involves the Czar, as Russia conflicts
with both Austria in Galicia and Turkey in the Black Sea. But sure to
cause even more tension is the situation between the powers in Blue;
England opens north and east, only to find a French fleet in the
Channel! Elsewhere around Europe we see Germany claim Denmark and move
toward Holland, or does he intend to attempt to influence the fate of
Belgium? Italy heads to the Ionian but otherwise stands pat, Austria
heads south to Serbia and Albania, and Turkey exits Asia Minor into
Bulgaria. I think that pretty much sums up the obvious, but the
interesting part is what it all means for the fall, and you all will
have to figure that out for yourselves!
Speaking of the Fall, the deadline for those orders will be this coming
Wednesday, July 22, at 9 pm eastern. However, you are encouraged to
send prelims ASAP!
