I'm pasting below, all the player lists etc. that Dipcorp sends me when I ask for a player list.  Note that Logan is still on the lists although he is no longer playing......  and note that although he is listed as abandoned on the DC site, he informed me of his choice to leave because real life was taking over. So good on him for doing it the right way  Smile

Hi gang,
France has decided that he cannot continue the game due to real life things that are consuming his time. They are perfectly acceptable reasons. Given the current situation, and the current strength of the French position, I really have no choice but to seek a replacement. I will get that out on the DC website right this minute, and it shouldn't take long. Sorry about the delay.
There will be a brief period of diplomacy before the fall 1905 turn is adjudicated. Anyone may continue to submit new orders until further notice.

Thanks Warren. This one looks like a nice challenge
and I look forward to working with everyone. I do not recall playing a game
with any one of you in the past so I hope I am around long enough to get to you
know.

Thanks Warren. This one looks like a nice challenge
and I look forward to working with everyone. I do not recall playing a game
with any one of you in the past so I hope I am around long enough to get to you
know.

Hi group,

We have a new France. Welcome to Tim Crosby, who can be
reached at:

tim_crosby(at)hotmail.com

I'm pasting below, all the player lists etc. that Dipcorp
sends me when I ask for a player list.  Note that Logan is still on the lists although he is no
longer playing......  and note that although he is listed as abandoned on
the DC site, he informed me of his choice to leave because real life was taking
over. So good on him for doing it the right way  Smile

New deadline for Fall 1905 will be in just
under a week, next Wednesday, February 22, 16:00 MST
.
That's 23:00 GMT.  Most of you have orders in already, and they will
be used in the event that you don't wish to change them.

Hello Brigade,

Not a mercy position at all. My French player has simply had real life take over and had to abandon his position.

Check out the current 398 map, we are just going into fall 1905. Russia and Austria are eliminated.

email me at alwayshunted(at)hotmail.com

Cheers,

Warren

DC 398, Autumn 1904 - alfdog   (Jan 20, 2012, 5:58 am)
Dear all
Many thanks for playing I did enjoy it even though eliminated.
My game hung on a few issues of my failure and other people reading the board better.

Firstly my complacency-I was convinced that ger was in league with fra to take out eng, consequently I never imagined the move east from ger and my fleet
stp nc was redundant.

Secondly Germany exploiting that complacency and opportunity, plus his ability to correctly estimate that eng and fra were too embroiled to resolve their
differences and turn on ger. This was a big risk, and generally ger moving east usually ends in failure. Well done to ger he did this attack superbly.

Third my inability to persuade eng and fra to stop fighting. Fra were up for this but I just could not get a decent dialogue with eng, I think that mistake
cost me dear and will ultimately cost eng dear, we shall see. Had they have done what I think was the most sound thing, and turned on ger then it would have been quite different. I don’t want this to sound like sour grapes, it isn’t, I failed to make a sufficiently
compelling case, but to say ger has had an easy run this game is an understatement.

Fourth I could not get Italy to turn on tur, try as I might to encourage him to move to east med or aeg I could not. No offence to tur, I just needed him
preoccupied so I could fight off ger without fear of a southern attack.

Fifth I never really got, or gave, the trust that tur needed to secure that southern border. Busyness at work meant I missed one turn’s communication which
led to tur thinking I was turning on him and he then moved on me. Tur apologised but at that point I said don’t worry press home.

I enjoyed the game but ultimately in diplomacy you have to either persuade people to do what suits you, without them realising it, or to read the game and
people’s relative skills to work out they will do what suits you without any nudging because they don’t realise what a threat you are. In this I abjectly failed and ger have risen to an unchallenged and comfortable ascendancy. He should solo, and will, unless
others realise his strength: With his central position any offer of a two-way will probably be something the weaker partner will live to regret.

The game will be remembered for a few things, I’ve never seen a six centre Italy at the end of the first season, and I’ve never yet seen an early eastern
attack by ger not exploited by eng and fra.
Plus in my entire life I have now played 17 games of diplomacy and this is the first ever time I’ve been eliminated-well it had to happen sometime!

Best wishes, I hope to play with you all again.
Alfred

Okay, well no retreat order from Britain, so his army is removed from the board. We move on to winter 1904. I am travelling, so computer time is a bit limited. I will adjudicate
as soon as I have a full set of orders, but I'm going to make the actual deadline for
winter on Monday, January 23 at 16:00 MST. That's 23:00 GMT.

Did I mention before that Russia was eliminated?? Or more accurately, eliminated himself?

Here are the adjustments that I need:

France: build 1

Germany: build 1

Italy: build 1

Russia: remove 3 (eliminated)

Turkey: build 3

Updated maps attached. Have fun.

DC 398, Notice - alwayshunted   (Jan 16, 2012, 4:13 pm)
Hi guys,

Sorry, slipped out of existence there briefly. So, I still do not have a full set of orders for the fall of 1904. If it was only one set missing I might just go ahead and run it... but it's not. So I'm going to wait until tomorrow, almost 25 hours from now. Please send in orders for the sake of those that are making an effort to do so.

DC 398, Autumn 1903 - alwayshunted   (Dec 18, 2011, 12:51 pm)
Hi group,

France retreats his army to Picardy. The deadline for winter adjustments will be Tuesday, December 20 at 16:00 MST. Then I think we should take a bit of a break for the season, but maybe it doesn't have to be very much of a break. I can probably find time to run a turn before the new year, so maybe around the 28th? PLEASE let me know if any of you will have trouble with that. I don't mind waiting until 2012 to run a turn.

Okay, so builds are due from England and Germany, one each. Everyone else stays the same. I can't copy the status from RP on my mac (not sure why). Anyhow, maps are attached along with the RP file.

Cheers,

Warren

DC 398, Fall 1903 Correction - alwayshunted   (Dec 17, 2011, 6:29 pm)
Hi gang,

It has been pointed out to me that I made an error in reading the orders. France did not order his fleet English Channel to support a move Belgium to Holland. He actually ordered (more logically) for Eng to support Belgium to hold. Since that support was cut anyhow, there is no change to the results.

Your humble GM,

Warren

Hi guys,

Okay, time for fall. A couple of important notes, please listen up. First, I happened to be on a plane when the deadline hit today and it was fortunate for more than one of you. I will always take orders up to the point that I start to adjudicate, but if I hadn't had to rush off to the airport just before the deadline today there would have been more than one nmr. Easy solution... send prelims... right now even  Smile   Second, PLEASE be careful with your abbreviations in your orders. There were several mis-orders this season, fortunately they didn't have a large effect on the game. Trieste and Tyrolia are important, and all those northern places that start with NOR.... I have no way to know which one you mean if you don't get the proper abbreviation. Uhh, there were a couple of sloppy orders made as well when making changes. That's not my problem of course, but be careful.

Alright, enough blabbing and on with the turn. A more cautious mood amongst the group I'd say.

We have one retreat, for France. French army Belgium can retreat to Picardy or Ruhr, or OTB. The deadline for that will be Monday, December 19 at 16:00 MST. If I get the retreat early I will be able to get the turn done early. I'm travelling and will have some evening hotel peace and quiet.

Here is the adjudication:

--------------------

England:

A Liverpool Hold

F London - English Channel (*Bounce*)

F North Sea - Belgium

France:

A Belgium Hold (*Dislodged*)
