DC 164 - Arctic Warriors - Fall 1904 Results - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Sam is right, GM oversight.
Jack, you do have the option to retreat to serbia, which will change the builds for this turn.
Please let me know ASAP if you want to make that retreat.

It may just be my Diplomacy Program (i use Jdip. Works better on mac.), but It's telling me that austrian Budapest can retreat into Serbia. I checked the paper-and-ink rulebook and since the attack on Budapest didnt come from Serbia, It looks like that move is legal. Am I missing something?

DC 164 - Arctic Warriors - Move Update - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
As we wait for a replacement, Austria does take the retreat to Serbia, altering the builds.
Both Germany and Russia get one build.
I will adjudicate once I have both builds, or when we have a new player, which ever comes first.

.ExternalClass DIV {;} Our intrepid France has, for personal, Real Life reasons, informed me that he can no longer continue with us.
I have asked the powers that be to put out the usual request for a replacement, and I expect it will not take too long as it is a strong position.

Sorry for the blank e-mail, had a premature send...
We had another NMR from Germany, that is his Second and puts him out of this game.
I will take a Vote on CD or replacement. Please respond by Tuesday, 6/24.
A non response will count as a vote for finding a replacement.
No retreats are needed, so as soon as we have a new German, or decide to CD him, we will move on with Fall 1905.

DC 164 - Replacement Vote - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
You all suck.
We have a 3-3 tie on the Replacement/CD vote.
So, we will press on with finding a replacement, but I will set a time limit.
If we do not have a new Kaiser in 2 weeks, we will press on with Germany in CD.
Trout, can you put this out to the brigade?
This is a 6 SC Germany, Summer 1905, missing Munich but with the lowlands and all of Scandinavia except Norway.
Tactical position is challenging but recoverable.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our Intrepid Jack, Archduke of Austria.
He stuck out an untennable position for longer then he had any right to.
Jack, thank you. You are welcome in any game I GM, any time.
As Italy and Russia push both Austrian units out, they can both retreat, but will of course disband in the build phase.
France has 2 retreats, and no options to them, so I have ordered:
A Brest - Gascony
A Paris - Burgundy
As France loses 2 units this turn, they can obvoiusly be OTB, or simply disbanded as required.
Which brings me to the last 2 items, Builds and Press. What? Did he say Press? What is that?
Our game (and many on DC) have experianced broken printing presses for quite some time, but our new Kaiser has fired them up again!
PRESS
Berlin Non-Democrat Gazette: A new Chancellor is sworn into office and, even as the oath was done, had this say: "Rest assured, this German Chancellor shall not build random fleets to go fishing through the Baltic Sea. While the new Chancellor recognizes that the influx of fresh fish has been good for his portly people [to whom the caloric beer is table water], it is time to move around a bit and see what other delicious foodstuffs can be found."
In similar news, a new fad can be found in Munich dining halls this Fall - wine! The migration of illegal Italian armies has brought with it a shift from the dark brooding beer halls to corner cafes, wine, and sharp-dressed German men [yes, we know...this reporter had to go visit Munich himself to believe it...after all, Munich IS the show-me-city!]. When asked to comment, the new Chancellor simply had this to say: "While we all love the laid back Italians, one has to believe that the Army simply got LOST when on maneuvers in the Alps. As we all know, they simply are too lazy to have actually mounted an offensive. Rumor has it that Munich's mayor has ALWAYS been a bit of a fashionista and just couldn't resist the thought of getting an Armani suit of his own. I am sure that he just let them in through the back door and, voila! - we have illegal Italians everywhere."

Gary is correct, I can only plead an RP fat finger.
The German Fleet sailed from Livonia into the Baltic, not the Gulf of Bothnia.

Another year gone by, and what a year!
Russia retakes then loses St Petes, Turkey is finally pushed out of a Home SC after a valiant defense, Germany retakes Munich thanks to an unexpected hold in Tyrolia, France manages to gain an SC after looking like she was giving up the ghost, and England breaks a fleet past the straits of Gibraltar.
We have 2 retreats due, Italy in Munich and Russia in St Petes. Italy can only retreat to Silesia or OTB, Russia can fall back to Moscow or Finland, or OTB
Please have your orders in by Wednesday, July 23rd so we can get the Builds in by the end of the week.

Berlin Non-Democrat Gazette: True to his word, the new Chancellor has not built random fleets to go fishing through the Baltic Sea. However, it has not escaped the notice of this reporter that the new Chancellor has not stopped the fishing expeditions of our German fleets. No doubt his comments about fresh fish should have served notice to his constituency - he obviously thinks that German people are too obese. One bier garden owner had this to say: "Clearly our new Chancellor is doing his best to put me out of business. All of this fish has a lot of Germans now eating healthy. Worse, I have seen joggers! He is killing the economy; at the rate he is going I will have to open a salad bar soon. Doesn't he realize that fighting, not fishing, is healthy."
