Greetings! And welcome to this 162nd game of Diplomaticcorp Diplomacy,
and the 2nd play of the Pericles variant!

This game is hereby dubbed the "Pythagorean Septem"

Please include "PS" in all your mails to me about this game! All
players have been in touch w me already about the game, and many of you
have been eagerly holding for this one to get in motion. If you add a
mail filter to auto sort things, I would suggest a filter for "PS" and
"dc162".

The first (and last) time Pericles was played, was dc084 - over 2 years,
and nearly 80 games ago (my God has it been that long?). I ran that
game, had a blast as the Messenians slammed a 20-sc Solo win, led by Lee
Taylor.

This forum is just for our game! You have all been subscribed to it by
default... this means any time somebody posts to it, you should get that
cc'd to your email inbox, so you are aware there is a new post. I will
also copy all adjudications to the forum, which means you will receive
adjudications twice - once from me, and once from the forum. This
ensures you are receiving it from two sources automatically, and have
little to no chance that an outgoing mail won't reach you. You can post
to the forum by visiting the site, or by emailing to:
dc162(at)diplomaticcorp.com. Any mail you send to this list will propagate
to all 7 players and myself.

Game page: http://www.diplomaticcorp.com?game_id=dc162

This is where you can find all information about this game! All
adjudications are posted here to browse thru, as well regular standings.

You should take a moment to gloss over these, for it's what I'll use to
resolve any sticky situations.

This explains some of the map features

Timeline: This is a one-week game. That is one week for Spring and
Fall turns, with 2 days for Summer and Winter. "Autumn" (Fall retreats)
will be combined with Winter in most cases. My standard deadline is
always 2pm Pacific. That is about 10pm GMT.

PRESS: Especially in variants, press is greatly encouraged!

RESULTS: Those of you who have played in any games I've run before will
know I am a stickler for orders being in on time! I run the turns
usually within minutes of a deadline, at the latest, later that evening
after the kids go to sleep. If you don't get a result set within 24
hours of a deadline, then you KNOW something is messed up w the email
system, and you should inquire as to why!

PRELIMS: A majorly good habit to get into! Turn in a set of moves
early. Prelims are REQUIRED in Spring 01, w/in 48 hrs of this
game-start... so I know we have a full set. After that, they are
encouraged, but not required.

Roster and deadline to follow shortly.
Enjoy!
-mike
