DC 179 EOG Austria
An unusual game, in that it started with eight players and ended as a draw in 1904.
An interesting cast of characters, including:
Gwing Fan, (Stephen/France)
Yours Truly Mr. Plod (Joe/Austria)
Postman Pat, (Matt/England),
Bullet Dodger (Paul/Germany)
Mr. (only sometimes) Angry (Frederick/Turkey)
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Will /Russia, Danny/Italy), and starring:
The Invisible Man, one Daniel Roby, who appeared early then disappeared just as quickly and yet had a big influence on the game's final outcome.
As Austria I thought I had a good thing going with Russia (Will) but this quickly turned to dust, and when I believed Italy's (Roby?/Fleming?) thrust into Tyrolia was an assault on Germany rather than myself this effectively sealed my fate.
Resigned to an early exit I offered the Sultan (Frederick) a self sacrificing win of RUM and a clean take of SER. He, like me earlier was perhaps seduced by Will's siren messages, and turned the offer down. As my position was rapidly deteriorating the chance passed, and sure enough, Will continued to gobble up centres while Italy performed well in an understudy role.
As a new player I was somewhat disappointed by the forwarding of entire emails between certain players, but maybe that's par for the course. I believe the end result was a fair one in view of the circumstances.
I would like to apologise to GM Garry on this forum for my outburst early in the game. Please put it down to inexperience on my behalf.
Thank you to all the players involved.
Joe/Austria
