Here we go, the 8th edition of the Haven Diplomacy is about to begin! Wow can you believe 8 games. I've played in 2 of them and ran the other 6. To put that in perspective, when I made this map I had one son and a new baby... and now, we have 4 kids, the youngest of which is turning 3 later this month. My how time flies. But I reminisce! For this game is new... Our lineup has some seasoned veterans who have played in many of the past iterations (I think Warren leads the pack there having played in 6)... several veterans of the hobby who are new to this board, quite a few of my nemeses that I dread running into across the table, and a good mix of eager new players too. Should be exciting!

Here's your civilizations. For the first turn, I require a set of prelims. For simplicity's sake, just send them *now*. Why not? You can always change them later. But I do like the first turn to be 100% in ahead of time.

So by...

Wednesday August 14

Send me a set of orders. Then we'll set the Spring 01 deadline officially at:

Wednesday August 20, 12 noon Central.

Once we are out of the first year, I will not hound people for orders. Tho you should always use prelims, it is not required. Please be aware of this! I am notorious for just running a turn. If you miss the deadline, your units will all stand around and do absolutely nothing, you'll rack up NMRs, and that is never a good thing. You won't get invited to exciting new games, you won't be allowed to wear sunglasses that imply you're particularly cool, your friends will shun you, and someone else will beat you to every good parking spot for the rest of your life. Don't let this happen - it's not worth it.

What else. I think that's about it. My usual house rules can be found here: www.sims-family.net/dip/houserules.htm. Read them thru when you get a minute.

If you have questions about the map, be sure to ask. Whether it's about the wrap, the islands, the rivers, the underworld, the eternal build centers, whatever. Knowing the map is pretty key to winning this game! Or even more importantly, it's key to not getting wiped out by a move you didn't expect because you didn't know it was even possible.

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
