PREV  Spring 1570 Adjudication:  NEXT

Takeda Harunobu (later Shingen, his Buddhist name) was the daimyo of
Kai and a descendent of the ancient Minamoto clan, as was the shogun
Ashikaga Yoshiteru. The Takeda cavalry were without peers in all of
Japan, and their victory at Mikata ga hara called into question
whether the new introduction of muskets into Japan would truly
revolutionize field combat as expected. Shingen would meet his main
rival Uesugi Kenshin on the battlefields of Kawanakajima no less than
five times, including, as legend has it, single combat between the two
daimyo during the fourth battle. For this he was given the name, "The
Tiger of Kai."

PLAYERS:

Shimazu Yoshihisa - Isaac Zinner
Mori Motonari - Jim Atkins
Chosokabe Motochika - Jean-Luc Lefebvre
Asakura Yoshikage - Garry Bledsoe
Oda Nobunaga - Joe Babinsack
Takeda Shingen - Nathan Deily
Uesugi Kenshin - Fredrik Blom
Hojo Ujiyasu - Michael Thompson

TEAHOUSE COMMENTARY:

- The Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiteru has been exiled from the capital in
Yamashiro? The land will surely fall into chaos now...
- Otomo Sorin must have many enemies for Bungo to fall so quickly...
- Amago Yoshihisa was already weak, the loss of Bingo will surely finish him...
- Saito Dosan is only a simple oil merchant, he was never meant to be
a daimyo...

Please review the adjudication closely, to ensure that I used your
most recent set of orders (some of you chose to send in many, many
sets of prelims, which pleased me to no end - but I want to make sure
I got it right)

Please also review your orders carefully - I have assisted with minor
spelling and variant rules questions/errors, and will continue to do
so, but I cannot adjudicate an order that would have more than one
possible interpretation. Remember - the safest option is always to
enter your orders in Realpolitik, and then copy/paste them from the
Orders window directly into email!

NEXT DEADLINE: No retreats due, so the next deadline will be for Fall
1570, due Thursday, March 25, at 1700 EST. Please send prelims ASAP,
and remember to CC me on player negotiations if you are willing (for
playtest purposes)

Finally - much to my great satisfaction, one of our players has chosen
to revive a wonderful tradition of Sengoku games past, and submit a
haiku for press. I heartily encourage all of our noble daimyo to
participate in this traditions each season - topics have ranged from
the militaristic, to artful, to even comic (one daimyo even submitted
Ozzy-ku, upon realizing that lyrics from Iron Man followed the rules
of haiku)

Press: Haiku!

thundering gallop
bloodstained steel, a death cry
replace the cock's crow

the red sun rises
now for wrath, ruin and flame
swift death to our foe!
