PREV Spring 1649 Adjudication: NEXT

Hi guys,

any first season adjucation is special. The sword joins the plume. Hopes and ambitions may suffer their first reality check. Or soar! In any case, no game is won or lost in the early game, much less in the first season. Just the stuff to further kindle the fire in a diplomat's heart!

So how have things shaped up?

First of all, seven minor powers have fallen prey to greater powers. Yet another five managed to repulse invading forces. So an undercurrent of hostility may be detected in such remarkable resiliency.

Whether any overt hostilities have broken out among Europe's foremost powers can't be fully determined. Yet some movement towards another power's logistical support base might be observed. In particular, the Norwegians might be uneasy about their future. But a notable convergence of units has also taken place in the Baltic sector. Turkish galley fleets have been spotted off Southern Italy's shores and Breton fishermen have also sighted a Spanish Armada moving north. How is such a move to be interpreted whilst Spain's armies have studiously avoided disconveniencing young King Louis...?

On to more technical matters: From Friday onwards until the 13th of June I'll be travelling. From the 24th to 31st I'll be exploring the Aegean by yacht. So we'll be in for a bit of rough sailing and I'll ask you for your forebearance when an adjucation is released with delay. To accomodate for my travelling schedule, I'm setting the next two deadlines as follows:

Fall 1649: Friday, 16 May
Winter 1649: Sunday, 18 May

I hope that works for you guys. If not, I'll work out something else. So let me know.

Lastly, some reminders: Make sure you specify coasts with your orders whenever necessary. Remember that the game's operating on Central European Time (GMT+1) and send in your preliminary move orders at least 48 before the deadline expires. In fact, I suggest you make it a habit of yours to submit prelims as soon as you've read an adjucation. It's the best way to avoid NMRs... For anything can happen when you cut it close to deadlines.

Please also check any adjucation for possible mistakes of mine. I've attached a dpy-Realpolitik adjucation file. You can load it in RP and use that when experimenting with Fall 1649 scenarios. Right at the bottom of the adjucation you'll also find the season's two maps.
