I'm afraid I made yet another mistake. An inauspicious start. :(
Switzerland supported A Paris into Lorraine. The below is corrected accordingly.
Please check every adjucation for possible mistakes.

A bug had A Moscow-Severia fail. This is now corrected in the below material.

Hi guys,
the opening turn is always special in a game of Diplomacy. High hopes and creeping fears make first contact with reality. So where do Europe's nations stand after these first skirmishes?
The English and Danes collided in the German Sea. The Dutch would have given the latter a decisive edge had in not been for the Spaniards.
France and Austria made some progress in subjugating the minor powers located between them. And what of F Brest? Those sailors went on strike!
Turkey moved into the Hungarian plains. Does this mean war with the Emperor? We shall see. In any case, it looks like the Sultan may be at the receiving end of a Christian crusade. The Spaniards, supported by Tunis and the Venetians, now threaten Constantinople.
What of the Northern triangle? Sweden made progress in the Baltic duchies, while accomplishing nothing in Germany. Poland is apparently also making a play for its all-too autonomous Baltic fiefs. And the Tsar can rejoice at seeing "his little green men" creating facts on the ground in Crimea.
I look forward to seeing what happens next.
On another matter: I've been asked in what syntax DP orders ought to be written. I myself use a concise syntax on the following lines:
Alg: W2 S Tun H
Meaning two Swedish DPs (hence the letter W) allocated to Alg supporting Tunis.
Pap: F1 S GOL-Sav
If you adopt this syntax, my job becomes a simple copy-paste effort. But anything works. So don't worry.
Lastly, thanks for keeping me CCed. It's been most instructive so far.
Good luck!
Charles

AUSTRIAN PRESS: The Holy Roman Emperor proclaims that the traditionally Catholic lands of Southern Germany will be directly administered by his representatives. So you Bavarians and Swabians and Saxons (whether or not you adhere to the True Faith), prepare to proclaim your allegiance! Probably may as well get used to the Austrian yoke yourselves, Venetians.
In other news, ill treatment of Jews is now prohibited by the Holy Roman Emperor himself! Seriously, people, we have Protestants enough to subdue to our will, without picking on the poor Jews.
Finally, responding to rumors that the Holy Roman Empire would one day expand to include Croatia, a minister for His Highness commented only that once these Croatians were located on a map, and a determination made as to whether or not they were good to eat, then thought might be taken about their proper place in or around the Empire
