GM Comment:

As reported, the maps won't be ready until tomorrow. I have to swap software and data between the laptop that's acting up and another machine. I'll do tomorrow morning - it's very late here.

You all seem to be getting the hang of this version very quickly. However, some of you left it to the last minute to get in orders and questions. Luckily there were no major issues. If you want me to check the orders for silly mistakes (as I will until the end of 1915) then they need to be with me in enough time for you to correct them. Nag-nag-nag.

Things to note this time are Great Britain's 2 orders which cover 3 units - 2 fleets, one with an army on board. Moving a loaded fleet to a coast automatically disembarks the army and the fleet moves back to its original space all as one move. Alas, not successfully in this case as Belgium finds itself coming to terms with the 'benefits' of French occupation. The Entente not-so-Cordiale. Spain, likewise, is measured up for a French yoke.

The German self-stand-off in Kiel is also worthy of note as, without the B(oard) notation, the fleet and army bounce, keeping the units in Holland and Bavaria, and Kiel defended and unoccupied. If either had had the B notation then the army would've boarded and the bounce not happen. Worth looking out for in the future. Meanwhile, the Danes become 'partners', along with the Dutch in the Second Reich.

In the north, the Norwegians and Swedes become fully paid up subjects (as in taxed) of Tsar Stefan. The Rumanians are as equally thrilled, particularly as this change comes with the help of the Sultan.

Moving around the continent, a resurgent Ottoman Empire returns to the Balkans big-time and the Austro-Hungarians complete the subjugati... errr... integration of the Balkans. Only impoverished Montenegro remains free of a Great Power's protection. However, an attempted Austro-Hungarian attack on Venice is repulsed at the border by the Italians.

Italy completes this round of beneficence by the Great Power's by taking the Swiss under their wing. Switzerland's Perpetual Neutrality means nothing to Il Parlamento Italiano or Original 1958 Diplomacy.

No dislodgements, so no retreats.

* Remember to submit your adjustment orders for next turn. Read Annex C of the House Rules CAREFULLY. Remember, you can't just build in any old home centre.
* Preliminary orders are highly recommended.
* Please put the game number 'DC210', season, year and country in the subject line of any orders.

* The GM House Rules, instructions for 3-season Diplomacy and the 1958 Original Diplomacy Rules on the DC210 game page at http://sforza.50webs.com/PS%20GM%20HR%20Original%201958%203-S.doc
* These results will also be posted to the DiplomaticCorp DC210 game page http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/game_page.php?game_id=dc210 and DC210 message board.
* The Rules of the Game of Diplomacy (2008 5th Edition) can be found at http://wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy_rulebook.pdf and www.diplomaticcorp.com/pdf/diplomacy_rulebook.pdf

Maps:

There are 2 maps (gif) for this turn (or will be):

* DC210Au04m: showing moves and supports.
* DC210Au04f: showing final positions.

A complete map history for the game (in the form of a slideshow) can be found at http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/slideshow.php?game_id=dc210 I've had a word with Mike Sims at Diplomaticcorp and although the slideshow has been implemented on the site, it can't as yet handle more than one map per turn. However, this is definitely on the 'things to do' list. In the meantime, I've decided to reinstate the slideshow on my web site http://sforza.50webs.com/DC210.html as it can handle more than one map per turn.

Cheers,

Paolo.
