now our first year is drawing to a close. All great powers have enjoyed some growth, the Emperor leading the pack, while the Lord Protector, Czar and Swedish King have to content themselves with one extra supply centre.
I'd argue that the first year has proven remarkably pacific. Fairly little direct confrontation between Europe's foremost powers has taken place. Such potential flashpoints as Norway, the Baltics and the Central Mediterranean did not flare up. Yet Poland bested Mother Russia on the Crimea, while Austria prevailed in Swabia. Along the Rhine, English and Spanish interests cancelled each other out.

Today the HRE announced his fervent desire to see his cabinet of cardinals have better multi-cultural diversity. As such, he has undertaken two new endeavors. The first of those is an open invitation to all Catholic kings to cement their alliance with the HRE; the HRE will then name cardinals from his allied countries and have them join his closest and most-trusted advisor councils. The second is an expansion program designed to unify some of the minor kingdoms in central Europe so that they can supply unique cultural perspectives to the HRE. Having a broad multi-cultural base from which to understand the word of the Lord is the HRE's highest priority.
