PREV  Winter 1936 Adjudication:  NEXT

Hallo zusammen,

so our first year draws to a close. Four brand-new fleets were launched, while six new army (groups) saw the light of day.

It's hardly surprising the Royal Navy received extra funding. Yet the Committee of Imperial Defence must have protested to the politicians that the allocated funds fell far short of requirements. Resourcing home defence won out over protecting the Suez Canal. I suppose the British now wish to outsource the defence of that waterway to the Egyptians. Meanwhile Turkey kept Izmir's shipyards busy and that newly constructed fleet may soon steam southwards...

The expansion of the Red Army is also worth noting. No fancy new battleships for Mother Russia.

Spring 1937 follows Wednesday, 14 October.

Thanks, guys, for a smooth start to our campaign.

Charles
