Asakura Yoshikage, lord of Echizen. was widely known as a ruthless but
wise ruler. He established one of the most efficient civil
administrations of the Azuchi-Momoyama era, and transformed Echizen
into an influential province. Together with his allies, Asai Nagamasa
of Omi and the Ikko sect of the Ishiyama Honganji, Yoshikage posed one
of the greatest threats to Nobunaga's campaign to unify Japan.

Yet here it is not Nobunaga, but rather Motochika who thwarts his
dreams of empire and glory. which leads us to our next Teahouse

TEAHOUSE COMMENTARY, by Sen Rikyu: Suzuki Sadayu of Kii has chosen
strange loyalties, abandoning his Ikko brothers in Asakura's camp to
aid the Chosokabe. The fall of Kyushu to the Mori/Chosokabe alliance
seems all but certain now. Musashi retains its independence another
day, defying all predictions. The Yamana clan are beset on all fronts
in Inaba, as no less than three powerful daimyo descend upon their
lands.
