PREV  Fall 1902 Adjudication:  NEXT

Continuing on the theme of negotiations, plans, and early diplomacy:

“Fere libenter homines id quod volunt creduntâ€
- Julius Caesar

Also, one of our players has contributed:

"Be civil to all; sociable to many; familiar with few; friend to one; enemy to none"
- Benjamin Franklin. (who obviously never played a game of Diplomacy in his life)

And finally, I would like to remind you that your plans are fruitless – in the US, it has been popular in recent years to paraphrase Napoleon that no plan survives its first contact with the enemy – your plans are fruitless except in how well you can carry them through. And in Diplomacy, that absolutely requires good, strong communication. I get the impression that some of you are letting the communication slip. Of course, you are free to do so, but I wouldn’t advise it.

There are no retreats, which is not to say there are no dislodgements. The Russian army in Denmark is obliterated. And Sweden falls to the Brits (who nonetheless support the Russian army in Denmark…). All in all, events in the north are not too friendly to Russia.
The EFG triangle gets spicier, too. Belgium has a master. Wales has visitors, but will they stay for long?
Turkey fends off invaders. Kind of a bummer, eh, Tom? And Austria… Austria! Seems to think he belongs in Germany, ‘cuz that’s where half his units are headed.
Folks, 1903 looks full of promise. But first, let’s have adjustments. Builds are due *tomorrow* at 10:00 a.m. from Austria, England, and Germany:
