PREV  Fall 1902 Adjudication:  NEXT

To retreat on the Fourth of July or not to retreat on the Fourth of July? Fortunately, it is a moot question. No retreats required. After all, this is America (where I live, at least), and we don't retreat. I'm reminded of a bumper sticker I once saw -- an American flag with the words "These colors don't run!" What made it funny, of course, was that the red stripes on the bumper sticker had, in fact, faded from sun exposure, so all that was left was a blue field with white stars.

In DC 429, it is one of those unusual seasons in which almost every order proceeds without a hitch, as if players have all correctly sussed out opponents' intentions. (More properly, it's as if *some* players have correctly sussed out *Other* players' intentions). The one exception to this pattern is in Turkey, where Rhovanion and Lotfizadeh go *plink* in both Constantinople and Smyrna.

Nearly all of the neutrals are claimed at long last -- it's kind of like the old union song (with slight alterations):

"They say in Anarchy One
There are no neutrals there
You'll either be a FourGotten man
Or a bug in Bushwood's snare

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

Oh players can you stand it?
Oh tell me how you can
Will you be a lowly pawn
Or will you be a man?

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

Don't scab for the leaders
Don't listen to their lies
Small folks ain't got a chance
Unless they make allies."

To be fair, however, Constantinople remains neutral. Home of the free. Land of the brave. Long may it remain so!

It is a very good year for both Bushwood and FourGotten (+2 each), and that comes at the expense of Rhovanion. It was a make-or-break year for Rhovanion. With good fortune, he might've ended with 5 centers. With bad luck (or nasty neighbors), he would dwindle to 2. And so it is that the two R's (Rhovanion and Rosstopia) are two two-center countries.

Germany remains a bastion of inactivity, Kumbaya.

Winter orders will be due on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. CST. I need adjustments from Bushwood, FourGotten, Lemuria, Mos Eisley, Paz Eterna, and Rhovanion. Remember, we are using chaos builds, so you can construct units in any vacant center you own.
