I'm afraid I got F Tripoli's and F Ionian Sea's orders wrong. These are corrected further below. The difference is that now there's a fleet in Tunisia instead of in the Adriatic.

Hallo zusammen,
plenty is going on across the continent:
Britain: The Turks snuffed out the residual British presence in the Middle East. Supplies from the Empire no longer being able to pass through the Suez Canal will however not weaken the Royal Navy as plundering the Danish gold reserve will compensate for the shortfall. Can however the British bulldog successfully defend the British mainland now that the Kriegsmarine has been sighted off East Anglia...?
France: The President scored several victories against the Italians. Algiers has been liberated and the Third Republic has established a new anti-fascist Italian government in Milan. Against Britain Paris's efforts are proving once again quite ineffectual. France's empire in the Middle East received a rude shock. The Soviets sided against the French, costing Marianne Iraq. Well, France's presence in the region was anyway quite overextended and in the long run unsustainable. So it's not too serious a setback, in my estimation. Particularly as Paris can nonetheless build another army.
Italy: The Duce lost Algiers, Milan and Austria, while winning back Tripoli. Hungary refused to become an Italian satellite. Hard times. The Duce might take little solace in Franco further consolidating his position on the Iberian peninsula. For should Italy collapse, the Nationalists will soon follow.
Poland: Pilsudski's heirs have brought the Czechoslovakians under their sway. The Germans might have easily guaranteed Czechoslovakian independence, but chose not to. What does that portend for Polish-German relations? Are Berlin and Warsaw aligned with another?
Soviet Union: The Asiatic powers (an oldschool way of refering to Turkey and Russia) have done stupendously well. Arguably with the Turks taking the pole position given there being quite a power vacuum in the Eastern Med. Stalin showed himself violently pro-Turkish, paving the Turks' way into both Serbia and Iraq. By the looks of it, the Soviets now have run out of easy gains. So will Moscow now launch an attack against any of the major powers? Shall we see the vaunted juggernaut steamroll all opposition? Seems like it's decision-time.
Turkey: Kemal is leading his country back to greatness. A spectacular year. Losing Tripoli hardly matters. Plenty of further easy gains beckon. I trust Kemal Ataturk will be Time's 1937 Man of the Year!
Winter 1937 follows on Friday, 23 October.
Cheers,
Charles

ANONYMOUS PRESS:
The Polish Senate voted to upgrade cultural awareness with classes in the German language for all government and military. Additionally, flyers are going to be handed out that highlight the best places to stay in German towns.
FRENCH PRESS:
Le Comte d'Turnabot, Rear Admiral on the flag ship, Les Seins Anglaises, is on patrol duty in the French Channel, on the lookout for English destroyers."We hope that the British prefer to sail in their stinky little rivers and give up their foolish hopes of European Rule. There is a reason they live on an isolated group of islands and they should not fight their Destiny. Oh, they make a good beer---something the lower classes seem to appreciate---but I'm afraid that just isn't good enough for today's modern world."
Paris - the French Foreign Minister has been seen going to an ophthalmologist recently, complaining of small speckles swimming across his eyes and a general blurry vision. That might account for his erroneous sightings and other screw-ups. The French Press have been warned against indulging in any of its usual headlines involving lame puns about eyes, vision, and the price of turnips. We'll just have to see how things turn up, in the long run.
SOVIET PRESS:
From the desk of Stalin:
The democratic and fascist powers have mobilised their politicians, their diplomats and their generals to stop socialism. But the People - the workers, the farmers, the peasants and the very soldiers whom they hope to once again have marching on their fellows - have seen through to the heart of the matter: this is not a battle between the Russian and the French, the German and the Jew, the British and the Italian. Rather, this is a battle between the classes, and the proletariat outnumbers the bourgeoisie. After all, we are the 99 per cent.
From Izvestia:
In a brilliant counter-strike against the class traitors demonstrated to be at work after the confessions of the Trotskyite-Kamenevite-Zinovievite-Leftist-Counter-Revolutionary Bloc, the newly formed Leningrad army group came to Moscow for manoeuvres. This enabled forces loyal to the people to take into custody Mikhail Nikolayevich Tukhachevsky. It is believed that he has already confessed to plotting to assassinate - along with Bukharin - Lenin and Stalin and working with the German government to overthrow the proletariat state. A spokesman for Stalin said that Stalin was grieving that so many people who had believed were close friends harboured such hate. The army was then sent south for exercises near the newly minted Soviet Socialist Republic of Rumania.
Today, the fascists and lapdogs of imperialism in 'neutral' Netherlands attempted to blame Soviet Ground forces for a terrorist act committed by their Ukrainian puppets. It is clear that the shooting down of a passenger plane was carried out by fascist terrorists operating from within the borders of the peaceful Ukranian Soviet Socialist Republic. The Soviet Union, however, will not be provoked into launching war against the peoples of Europe who have been treated with contempt by their rulers for so many years. Instead, Stalin announced that the diplomatic missions to the states of Norway, Rumania and Iran to urge them to throw off their oppression and join the coming victory of the people had been successful, although the jackals of counter-revolution still circled and these fragile flowerings of class consciousness could yet be crushed by the jackboot of the fascist, the sword of the religiosist and the means of productioness of the capitalist.
Pravda classifieds:
The Red Orchestra performed admirably in Amsterdam this month. Copenhagen beckons.
Shock news from the Spanish Civil War: the Republicans have cut ties with Soviet Russia, claiming that Stalin was secretly backing the Nationalists all along. Francisco Largo Caballero has placed the Workers' Party of Marxist Unification, POUM, at the centre of resistance to the Nationalists, and swung Republican forces around to advance on Madrid. The Soviet leadership is rumoured to have begun taking steps to deal with this. Alexandr Orlov stated 'the Trotskyist organisation POUM can easily be liquidated'. Is civil war in Spain about to trigger another civil war in Spain?
From Republican Spain, a short speech from Francisco Caballero: "My brothers, we must strike down the Nationalist threat. While their fifth column has seized Madrid, remember this: today is only one day in all the days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today. It's been that way all this year. It's been that way so many times. All of war is that way."
