*Austrians Flee Before Russian and Turkish Advances*
*Armies Clash in St. Pete, but German Fleets Lurk Near the Harbor*
*Madrid Falls to Italians*

Hey all,

We're seeing some alliances really seem to take hold now, as seven supports are from one nation supporting another's hold or attack. That, to me, is the start of the "mid-game," when alliances begin to gel. End-game really hits once you have 2 strong alliances or powers trying to push for the win. I'm not sure those would be "official" definitions, but they work for me. So while we have two countries on the ropes (France and Russia), neither one is actually down for the count yet. Fall should be quite interesting. I'm seeing some new developments this year that I'll be watching carefully in the following seasons.

Retreat-wise, we have nothing. Turkish army Bulgaria was dislodged, but every available retreat option was blocked, so he goes off the board and back into the metaphysical box.

See ya on Thursday!

John
