Gentlemen, our biggest news of for the summer adjudication is not the retreats themselves and is perhaps best delivered by this press from our Austrian player, Adriaan.
Dear fellow rulers of DC 386,
Events in Europe have been complex and convoluted, but unfortunately I can no longer spare the time to partake in its intrigues. You may have noticed that my messages have been getting shorter and less frequent - the truth is as my wedding is now just over a month away, my spare time is rapidly dwindling. I hope you will understand.
This season I would like to introduce to you my successor - Sun Chung. He may choose to take his own course with Austria, but I am sure that whatever path he takes he will do so competently. I hope that the game shall continue with as little disruption for my disappearance as possible.
I would also like to extend my thanks to Robert, for running an excellent game of Diplomacy and without whom none of this would be possible.
Beyond that, it has been a pleasure to play with you all, and I hope that I shall play with you all again some time in the future. Best of luck to you all, both on the board and off.
Regards,
Adriaan
I'd like to add, Adriaan has always been very up-front about the time commitment his wedding would entail, and recently he communicated to me that he felt he wasn't able to continue giving this game the attention it deserved. But he also remained committed to not abandoning his position, and promised to play on until a replacement was found. And now a replacement has been found, Sun Chung, whom some of you have faced before. I am very grateful to both these players. Adriaan for handling his need to resign in the best possible way, and Sun for stepping in and ensuring that the game will not suffer. Adriaan, congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and best of luck to you and your partner. You will always be welcome to play in any future games I might GM. Sun, welcome aboard.
