PREV  Fall 1766 Adjudication:  NEXT

Friends,

While eight powers technically remain, there is certainly a clear pecking order. Ascendent are the powerful French, swelling to 11 supply centers and facing only a marginal threat on one of their three, diverse fronts. Prussia, still strong at 8, has clearly stagnated and will need a new strategic course to rise again to be the jewel of Europe. From there, Sweden is a confident third with 6 centers and a cozy corner position, staring out at a poorly defended Prussian east and the crumbling remains of Austria and the Ottoman Empire. Next is Spain, playing their own game but, without enemies or threats, finally nudging up to a fifth supply center. Then two very different 4 center powers: the Danes, who have been cooly efficient for the duration but may have made the French skittish this turn judging on the latter's moves in the UK. Along with Austria, who seems friendless in and around the alps, remaining at a relevant size but seemingly a less relevant place at the table. Last of all we have our two single center powers: Great Britain and the Ottomans. The British, hit early by the Prussians and then squeezed by the Danes and French have been ill-handled for lo these many years while the Ottomans began their campaign indecisively and have never been able to muster the strength to amass force against their red antagonist.

Will this year see a resurgence from our humble trailers? Will someone in the middle be next to break out? Or will the crafty French prove unstoppable in the wake of their latest surge? We shall know much more next Tuesday!

There are two retreats due: Ottoman A Vienna can retreat to Croatia or OTB. Prussian A Courland can retreat to Kon or OTB. In both cases, retreating OTB impacts the adjustments, as shown in that section. While for the purposes of the attached map I have made the valid on-board retreats, both of you may, of course, choose to remove. Other players, if you desire, provide contingency builds/disbands on this basis.

Retreats and adjustments due in 32 hours.

Happy hunting!

Dirk
