PREV  Winter 1940 Adjudication:  NEXT

Hi everyone!

How has the past year worked out for Europe's leading powers?

BRITAIN: The Prime Minister has abandoned London and effectively declared it an open city. Perhaps he has plans to forsake the British Isles entirely. Might he launch a raiding mission in warmer climes?

FRANCE: France isn't in the same league as our two superpowers, Italy and the Soviet Union. But eight units (and nine SCs) are nothing to scoff at. Now, where shall those units find employment?

GERMANY: Retook the capital, but a Goetterdaemmerung may have set in. Will the Reich go down in flames? Or eke out a meagre existence? That alone would be quite an accomplishment.

ITALY: Not much of a year in terms of SC conquests. But at this stage one can truly consider the Med an Italian lake. Yes, a couple of litoral SCs remain unconquered and there's a Turkish fleet in Alexandretta, but that's small fry. Spain has assumed a strong position in the northwest map quadrant and may become the arbiter of the British Isles.

POLAND: What to make of the Soviets taking over Hamburg? Stab or an arranged move? In any case, a buildless Poland sees its eastern flank wide-open to a massively expanded Red Army.

SOVIET UNION: Within striking distance of victory! Where might three more SCs come from? The Soviets may have reached their limit in the Mid-East theatre. Round Britain the Fascists clearly have the upper hand and the communists' hold on Edinburgh looks very iffy. I guess one can write off that SC. So that'd mean that Uncle Joe has to get four SCs in the map's centre. In light of a number of Soviet SCs being quite vulnerable, it looks like a difficult - though not impossible - task.

TURKEY: Britain effectively gave up her last home SC. So has apparently Turkey. A last stand in Syria...

Our first draw proposal failed, but we now have another up for a vote. Looks like we've entered the game-end proposals season. BTW, have any of you ever seen a first proposal be accepted?

I'm afraid I have an NMR - IIRC our first - to report. I did not receive a disband order from Brian, so I removed A Franconia per default. Everything ok, Brian?

My apologies for only now getting out the adjucation. I generally aim to publish results within 7 hours tops, but yesterday only got home at midnight and didn't have the energy to get it done.

Spring 1941 follows on 9 December.

Have a great Saint Nicholas weekend!

Charles
