PREV Autumn 1575 Adjudication: NEXT

Saito Dosan was the daimyo of Mino province, and is most famous for his common background. Unlike most of the daimyo of the Sengoku Jidai, Saito Dosan was not a member of the feudal aristocracy, but rather an oil merchant that seized power from the Toki clan that previously held sway in Mino. Dosan's rule was marked by constant involvement with the Oda clan of neighbouring Owari, both in marriage and in war. Ultimately, he was defeated in the same manner that he seized power - his own son (believed illegitimate) launched a successful coup d'etat that paved the way for complete Oda dominance of Mino.

***TEAHOUSE COMMENTARY: Saito Dosan would be pleased to see the developments of this Autumn, as the Oda homeland of Owari is seized by a retreating Hojo fleet. Asakura chooses the way of peace, and disbands his fleet. As for Satomi Yoshihiro, after five years of this game, the crusty old daimyo has finally died. (Well, that didn't really happen until 1578 historically, but I couldn't think of anything else to say about him) Hereforward, I will have to come up with idle nothings to say about his son, Satomi Yoshiyori, until that unit in Hitachi is finally evicted.
