DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Fall 2010 - You D... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The fortune cookie for Fall 2010 lets us know that "What you left behind is more mellow than wine." ...

But tell that to California, as he gets jumped by almost every remaining power on the board. The southern state holds its own though, ensuring some quality shore-leave time for their troops in Hawaii. Meanwhile, Cuba and Florida once again trade centers and the the Big Apple continues to be chewed down to its core...

Sadly, we bid farewell to our Heartland dicatator with this round. Andy, you came, you conquered, you left us too soon... My thanks for playing this one out right to the bitter bitter. =)

Two retreats needed, as well as a third from the Heartland if Andy so chooses. Deadline for Early Winter 2010 retreats will be set for Saturday, June 14th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers! Let me know if you spot any errors..

Surprisingly not a single unit is dislodged…

Bets are now being taken on whether the Boeotians or the Persians will be first out… the Macedonian Market is hedging on the easterners while the Peloponnesus 500 Index puts the demise of the Boeotians as a “sure bet”… perhaps a visit to the fates is in order before laying down your drachmas.

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Fall 2010 - You D... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
On the bright side, the revenge you’ve allowed the Quebecians to reap unto NY has provided no shortage of enjoyment. The Quebecians plan a formal tribute to the Heartland when NYC finally falls. At a minimum, there will have to be large floats, possibly some balloons with words upon them, and a huge statue of the NY leader, as the words float into his mouth and the robotic actuators make his jaw chew.

And now am I, if a man should speak truly, little better than one of the wicked.

Hey folks, apologies for being an evening late with the adjudication. Had a pretty crazy 24 hours... This turn is a simple one - the Spanish retreat to Rome and the Ottoman unit is retreated OTB. Keeping with the longer spacing to allow for player vacation, Winter 1603 adjustments deadline will be set for Sunday, June 15th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers everyone!

I propse another race be added in the middle of the delta and gamma quadrants to average out the dominian and borg supremacy: Species 8472. I think without some sort of other power in the Northern Hemispheres either the Borg or the Dominan are going to run away with this game.

On a side note it looks like a very interesting variant and I would sign up for it if I were not running so many other games at the same time.

Thank you

Hey folks,

Here is the Winter 1873 adjudication, one day later than I would have liked to get it out. I apologize to you all for that. Other builds include France stacking troops into Europe, Japan building boats in Edo and Austria removing in Kiel.

Please let me know if you spot any errors. We'll set the Spring 1874 deadline for Wednesday, June 18th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers everyone!

My armies can't take <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSurprisedffice:smarttags" />INN and your islands, so we can have peace now. Our fleets stay away from you. I will make CAI and PEN as DMZ; and keep GRA fleet only. What do you think
Press:
Wales: Can you support me into Sus? No problem on Che, makes sense.
Picts: We are good on our DMZ. We both have other things to do.
Socts: I can't take Cum. Can you leave and we'll keep Cum & Dur vacant?
- From the Angles

Press: Frisians to Norse : Is someone speaking for you? I still say we go for the Danes either way. We are set up and there is nothing he can do.

Danes to Norse: good border between us, and richer pickings for us both further west. Time to go a Viking!

Danes to Britons: come and meet me. We have rich pickings between us, and together we can carve up the Frisian heifer, before crossing the narrow sea together.

Norse to Picts.... Happy to discuss what we do with our two islands and a dmz area. I could go over top for ICE and be an outer power and you could stay on the mainland and west islands?
Norse to Danes.... SKA and KAT dmz. yep! but I need to move my fleet through SKA first. Are you moving BAL back to ODE or JUT to then move west?
Norse to Frisians..... We help you if Danes renage on dmz offer but not if they hold true.
to Frisians: We can squash Danes between us.
to Britons: Leave the Frisians alone and concentrate on taking the seas and bottling the Irish up.
Guess the Britons have trouble with the Irish... Better their way than my way... Smile
Picts to Danes : Lets get the Norse. I'll take Zet.

<With apologies to the memory of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle>

It was a particularly rainy night when Dr. Watson stepped through the front door, doffing his rainy over-coat and heading straight for the study. There he found the fire already crackling, its warmth suffusing through the room, and his friend Sherlock Holmes already ensconced beside it in his arm-chair. Without looking up, the detective removed the pipe from his mouth.

"You are worried about the recent affairs in the Baltic, are you Watson?"

Watson paused mid-stride. "Holmes, you constantly amaze me. I was just about to ask you about this recent swirl of unpleasantness."

"It was elementary, my dear Watson. You have just come from your club, where you and the other members sit and discuss the recent news of the day. The recent military mobilizations are, of course, the front page news in the Times today and would be the main topic of discussion. And since you did not even stop by the kitchen for your usual cup of tea before coming here from the front door, I know that you wish to discuss something with me... What you have heard at the club has obviously worried you. And with the emminent Mary Watson is currently visiting cousins in the Scandinavias, it is not too far of a stretch to understand the cause of that worry."

His friend gathered himself in his own arm-chair and began stuffing his pipe. "Still, Holmes, it is a wonder. But, you are correct - war is about to break out in the Baltic and my wife is there travelling. What do you know of this Baltic affair?"

Holmes leaned forward.. "Well, the signs point to four nations mobilizing for war. I'm sorry Watson, but this looks to be quite the messy affair..."

Apologies to you guys for getting this out a day late - purely the GM's fault and I regret the work pressures that caused it. However, the action from the first turn looks extremely promising - although it might be a little hot for Finland. Then again though, is any power's back-door truly safe?

No retreats needed - we move onto Fall 1901. Deadline will be set for Thursday, June 19th (11:59 PM GMT). Please just let me know if you see any errors in the adjudication.

Cheers!

Heya guys,

Turkey does a good job of spoking Austria's wheels in the Med, but is over-whelmed north of the Black Sea. England gains a little payback in Moscow however... Meanwhile, Germany takes a trip to the Eiffel Tower.

There were three retreats - two Turkish and one French. However, all three only had one option other than OTB so I took the liberty. If OTB is preferred though guys, please just let me know. We'll set the deadline for Winter 1904 adjustments to be due on Sunday, June 15th (11:59 PM GMT).
