For Immediate Release...-------------------------I everyone, it is so evident we face an western triple of Germany France and England.
England and France are just letting Germany run away with the game while they roll over wag their tail and let their tummy get rubbed. Sooner or later Germany will build fleets or press on France and then they will realise it is all a bit too late. The pointless stalemate of turkey and Russia only serves to make Germany???s job all the easier.
England and France you need to take out the game???s clear leader!

Germany
to England- sorry but absolutely no, I need Sweden and do not want any
more foreign troops adjacent to Denmark. You over step what can be
reasonably
expected of an ally.
---------------------------------------
??
Is
it me or has everyone forgotten Germany can be attacked? Take a look
they are on five and have Belgium. If they are helped in Sweden, plus the
distinct possibility
of guessing right in ven/tri/vie they will be on 7 possibly 8 centers.
Watch this space but they need taking down a peg or two! England make a
deal with Russia it???s ridiculous what Germany has asked over Sweden and
he???s loving that Russia and England are wasting
units and time in a pointless stalemate.
---------------------------------------
Dear England
For
some reason France seems intent on trying to play everyone else???s game.
??Even with a fleet to support Norway, you have a two to one advantage
if Norwegian
goes to nao, why not split Iberia with Italy, you will get the larger
part ultimately as bre will be yours.
Italy
??
Dear Russia
I
hope you appreciated my support, I expect it will be reciprocated soon.
Trouble is Germany imperialism (watch swe and then Livonia my friend)
makes my decision
difficult. I will accept your expected support and Germany has a fifty
fifty guess on tri or ven. I hope I guess right.

England to Germany: Let's do it the other way round, help me to Swe and I'll help you to Mos / StP
---------------------------------
France to Germany: I appreciate your not moving on Marseilles in the spring. It is my most fervent hope that this will mark the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial partnership. You are absolutely correct that my eyes are turned southwards - and I am hoping your Tyrolian army will continue moving in the same direction. There will be plenty of help from me if that is the case.
France to Turkey: The President sends the Sultan his greetings! Although you are currently defending your northern borders I make a similar offer to you as to our friend the Kaiser - move west against the Italians and you'll get plenty of help from me. You have just as much to fear from the developing R-I axis as Germany and me.
France to England: Russia seems intent on depriving you of your Scandinavian possessions - defend them as strongly as you need, your southern border is safe from me.
---------------------------------
From the Tsar (perhaps the real one???.you decide):
??Italy: It seems I have a friend, a deal is a deal.
??
Turkey???Shall we bounce yet again?????I truly hope so.????That will give my new BFF time to come in through your completely undefended coastline.
??
Germany???Too much too soon.??
England???Support me in Swe, to keep it from the Germans and I will concede it to you as we march onBerlin??together!

France???So much open country to your East???sure looks tasty now doesn???t it?[Reply] |

--------------------------
Hi France
Is there any way we can disentangle ourselves? We are heading for a stalemate and Germany are heading for an easy ride. I can use my fleets more productively securing Greece or getting tri, Germany will be delighted to see us locking horns. I???m in a position as Italy to be flexible and switch east rather than west. What will your gains be while Germany continues to rampage? Tun? I out number you in fleets but ultimately you will make gains but they will be much slower than your neighbour???s gain? In a year or two when Germany is 2-3 centres stronger and you are maybe one centre better off you will rue the day you gave him an easy ride. Cut a deal with eng and move on ger.??Six of his seven centres are coastal, yet he has only one fleet to your combined force of five.
As a gesture of good will I will withdraw my fleets, dmz wms naf gol. Let me (and everyone else) know your thoughts
Italy
--------------------------
France to Italy?
I'm not interested in 'playing everybody else's game', I'm just trying to defend myself against you in what I think is the best way I can in a gunboat game. You've displayed hostile moves to me since winter 01, I take defensive action against you whilst recovering from an admittedly poor set of autumn 01 moves, and now you accuse me of 'letting my tummy get rubbed' by Germany? I take it your attacking me rather than acting directly against Germany is completely different, is it?
If you're serious about wanting to do something about Germany's growth, then I suggest you stop attacking me (both in press and on the board, 'dude' and come up with some constructive suggestions as to how that might be achieved.??
France to Germany:
I'd appreciate it if you didn't move to Bur this turn. There's no need for you to do this - I think you may have enough on your plate otherwise.

Italy to all
For the record I did not make the Italian solo end game proposal, someone is stirring. I will obviously support it as I will the three way draw.
--------------------------
Italy to Germany
I am now ready to redirect units from the east to the west which I will do if you build two armies and therefore threaten mun. it is my only territorial demand as I said and then only in response to your attack upon me much earlier in the game, I have had ample chance to walk into ber but have not. The people of mun have recently voted in a referendum and prefer pasta to sausage so leave them be in the new annexed Italian enclave. My fleets move against a common enemy, I can work with you, but it will hand the French an advantage over you if you build two armies as I will redirect units against you. let us keep the peace!
--------------------------
Germany to France. ??To answer your question, yes. I am voting for the three way draw and positioning myself to oppose the solo.

??Italy? My friend, I agree with your thoughts.?? How about you stay in Tri (I understand the Fall there is stunning).?? While you are there you could give me some support in Bud from Gal and in retrn your troops can dine in Vie come the Fall.?? What do you think?
??
Germany and England? Looks like you two are about to smack the taste out of each other's mouths.?? Bet France can't wait.
??France? Just wait!
??Turkey? You are really confusing me.?? Where do you plan to send those armies??? They can't come North or South so I am guessing into Austria you go.
--------------------------------------
Italy recognises the heroic efforts of the tsar and as such offers support into bud, in return would very much like vie in the fall with your good help. See the support from gal-bud that is forthcoming and make a deal. We can overcome.
??Italy has aspirations for Greece, but realise that this is also of inters to turkey, therefore in the fall or next spring I will offer support into ser from bul in return for your help in Greece.

Germany? Feel free to head to Helgoland Bight.?? My plan is to sail into Sweden and not to bother you or your Homeland.?? I understand your concern but you should feel none from me.
??
England? I also look forward to your arrival in Norway in case you feel some undue pressure from Berlin .
??
Austria Hungry? I look forward to hearing from you and working with you through your positive actions.
??
Italy? Do we have common plans??? I would hate to waste the manpower to only bump heads with you

France? For now I wish you the best and perhaps there is a duel win in the future for us.

Currently I have no argument with you, but if I see you in territories next to me that will change.
To England, I look forward to seeing you in Norway, we may need to prevent a Russian outbreak in the north.
To Austria, be on the alert for the rumoured juggernaught. Further dispatches to follow.
To France, if you bounced me in Burgundy then what are your intentions trying to come to Burgundy? ??If not, then I will move to Ruhr, hopefully no harm done.

Well it seems that my hope for world peace is just that hope.?? Not only has my offer been rebuffed it was met with a threat from leader of that once great country, Germany.?? Sir you are planning so far ahead to attack my armies in the upcoming fall.?? You claim your threat was not personal but it can be taken no other way.?? Perhaps we could have come to an agreement that was good for both our lands.?? But then again, it is early and perhaps we can once again plan to spend the holidays together.
??
But until that point it is with great joy that we accept the gracious offer from the brave and honorable Sultan.?? It pleases me to be friends with a man you will honor his word and keep his fleets from the Black Sea.?? We do have a great history and the word Juggernaut comes to mind does it not??? And I see that the Italians have more than made it clear that your great land of Turkey will be the first target of the growing Austrian/Italy union.?? With your fleets and my armies and the help of our other fine allies, we can stop those who stand against us.

Just a quick reminder - the deadline is a little over seven hours away.
Jerome[Reply] |
Fwd: DC436 - Gunboat clarification - cbconnell (Jan 23, 2013, 11:02 pm) |
I know some of our players have understood this particular game variation correctly, but I wanted to be VERY clear to all of our players - as I feel one fact may have been missed by some.
This game allows ALL types of press, white, grey, dark grey and black. Per the definition on the dipwiki website:
"Some gunboat games allow press to be published by the GM as a means
to facilitate some communication between players. Depending on the game,
some or all of the following may be allowed:
White Press - statements that are attributed correctly to the author
Gray Press - statements that are published anonymously
Dark Gray Press - statements unofficially attributed to an author (either the correct one or otherwise)
Black Press - statements officially attributed to an author other than the actual writer
A Full Press Gunboat game allows all the above types of press"This game is a "full press" gunboat game - meaning that all types of press will be accepted. Press you read could be any one of the 4 types - DO NOT ASSUME IT IS "WHITE PRESS"!
The fact that this is a "full press game" was and is listed on the game description on the diplomaticcorp.com website, however I will admit that the website was the only place it was listed and I did not make that clear again in the game-start emails.
Feel free to inflict havoc on the other players by being creative and write press posing as your favorite enemy power... or to just keep other players guessing as to what will happen next.?? Just remember that press will be published to all players. Also, I will not ask you to declare what type of press you are submitting; so be sure to include your greetings (addressee) or signature (addressor) clearly in the press. I will NOT automatically add your country name as the addressor if it is left blank (hopefully for obvious reasons).
Also remember--- you are not required to submit press - or read it!
As to the timing of press... I am willing to accept and publish press when it is received. If too much press interferes with my personal ability to publish it, I will have to be more restrictive on the schedule of published press.
However, press sent outside of "regular" press publishing times may be easier to attribute to a particular country.?? So, this is what I think will work (if it needs to be modified later, I will let everyone know):
Send press (if any) with orders to be published with the results of each Spring and Fall season. The deadline is the same as the orders for that season.
I will publish another press "season" after the winter builds - the deadline will be over the weekend -- like Saturday night or Sunday morning. I will let you know the timing with the Fall results
I will publish other press as requested - EXCEPT if the press is received less than 24 hours before the next regular Spring or Fall orders are due.
Thanks for reading.
Craig

An interesting turn, to be sure. The Turks are off somewhere enjoying spring break while the Austrians and Russians argue over Bulgaria, leaving it to the Turks when they get back.
I strongly encourage all of you to get into the habit of submitting preliminary orders as soon as you read these. In the Blitz, there's hardly time to say, "I'll do that later." If you look at my profile, you'll see a few NMRs there... those are almost entirely from Blitz games.
There are no retreats to resolve, so we head straight into the fall.
