I know some of our players have understood this particular game variation correctly, but I wanted to be VERY clear to all of our players - as I feel one fact may have been missed by some.
This game allows ALL types of press, white, grey, dark grey and black. Per the definition on the dipwiki website:
"Some gunboat games allow press to be published by the GM as a means
to facilitate some communication between players. Depending on the game,
some or all of the following may be allowed:
White Press - statements that are attributed correctly to the author
Gray Press - statements that are published anonymously
Dark Gray Press - statements unofficially attributed to an author (either the correct one or otherwise)
Black Press - statements officially attributed to an author other than the actual writer
A Full Press Gunboat game allows all the above types of press"This game is a "full press" gunboat game - meaning that all types of press will be accepted. Press you read could be any one of the 4 types - DO NOT ASSUME IT IS "WHITE PRESS"!
The fact that this is a "full press game" was and is listed on the game description on the diplomaticcorp.com website, however I will admit that the website was the only place it was listed and I did not make that clear again in the game-start emails.
Feel free to inflict havoc on the other players by being creative and write press posing as your favorite enemy power... or to just keep other players guessing as to what will happen next.?? Just remember that press will be published to all players. Also, I will not ask you to declare what type of press you are submitting; so be sure to include your greetings (addressee) or signature (addressor) clearly in the press. I will NOT automatically add your country name as the addressor if it is left blank (hopefully for obvious reasons).
Also remember--- you are not required to submit press - or read it!
As to the timing of press... I am willing to accept and publish press when it is received. If too much press interferes with my personal ability to publish it, I will have to be more restrictive on the schedule of published press.
However, press sent outside of "regular" press publishing times may be easier to attribute to a particular country.?? So, this is what I think will work (if it needs to be modified later, I will let everyone know):
Send press (if any) with orders to be published with the results of each Spring and Fall season. The deadline is the same as the orders for that season.
I will publish another press "season" after the winter builds - the deadline will be over the weekend -- like Saturday night or Sunday morning. I will let you know the timing with the Fall results
I will publish other press as requested - EXCEPT if the press is received less than 24 hours before the next regular Spring or Fall orders are due.
Thanks for reading.
