In fairness, two of them were because of destroyed units.

Wanted to let everyone know that I've had a traveling snafu and am shuttling airport to airport in the Midwest (thanks to, of all things, a weather problem in San Antonio) so if I haven't responded to your email or was frustratingly curt you'll cut me a little slack

dc431 Spring 1900 adjudication - smileyrob (Jun 20, 2012, 12:11 am) |
Gentlemen,
The first results are ready, always a very exciting time in any Diplomacy game, as you get your first inclination of how trustworthy your neighbors may or may not be, and what rumored alliances may actually be taking shape. In this game, with a few notable exceptions, close neighbors seem to be staying out of one anothers way. Italy however moves an army to the border of Marseilles, while seeing Austria move an army to the border of Milan. With four armies from three powers surrounding it, it will be interesting to see what becomes of Switzerland this fall. Other potential areas of early conflict appear to be in the eastern Med between Turkey and Britain as well Scandinavia with both Britain and Russia moving multiple units towards the region
There are three attached files, two maps and a realpolitik file. The first map shows the movement and attempted movement of all units, the second where those units end up. I'll include at least these two maps with all adjudications. The realpolitik file is useful if you wish to test potential moves for future phases.
As there are no retreats, our next phase is Fall 1900. Deadline is in one week, Tuesday, June 26, 8PM PDT.

dc394 f14 results! - Build 8! - FuzzyLogic (Jun 19, 2012, 2:59 pm) |
Never thought I'd be saying that, but -- the Knights have before them a *BUILD 8* turn. And if I'm not mistaken, there are even 8 buildable places to plunk them all down. Amazing turn for the Knights, as they hack and slash their way into Haven record books. Pretty much everyone else manages a crumbling effect this turn, as walls cave in left and right -- some more than others. For example the Hobbits and Rogues shed some peripheral bits... akin to say, the effect if you were to hold a piece of sandstone between your hands, roll it back and forth, and watch as the loose bits and pieces break away from the edges. And then there are the Elves who do a crumbling effect of their own, but this being more like that of a sand castle -- not a particularly grandiose sand castle, more like one built by a child who is proud of it because it is his -- even tho not as big as others others -- is still his own little empire -- but then is viciously STOMPED by a passer-by -- with sand and muck spewing forth from all sides of a giant boot that smushes the little empire into oblivion. Dwarves pull out a modest BUILD 2, but have nowhere to put them... instead banking them for a rainy day. Little do they know it never rains in the Haven... it only pours. Not sure what I mean by that, but it's worlds ahead of our time I'm sure.

So, one retreat is due. Manolis - I've auto-retreated Spain to the only place it can go, Portugal. If you want to, you can retreat it off-the-board and build an army in Paris instead. I'll put one deadline for Winter 07, it's tomorrow at 2000GMT - but if anyone wants to, they can make their adjustments dependent upon Manolis's retreat-or-disband decision.
The adjustments are as follows (assuming the retreat stands, Manolis if you disband Spa instead of retreating to Por, you can take an army build in
Paris):
Austria: Supp 0 Unit 0 Build 0
England: Supp 8 Unit 7 Build 1
France: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0

Everyone,
I am headed off to Boy Scout Summer Camp, I will be keeping tabs with my Beautiful Amazon Bride and will hopefully be able to maintain contact with everyone. There is no wi-fi at camp. If I need an extension I will let Jerome know, but I am hopeful with the way the schedule is falling that I will be ok and not have to request one.

Ugh! Note to self: "No more out-sourcing adjudications! Best off to do it yourself."
Actually, I did do these myself, but after a long day out in the very hot sun. Probably baked my brain.
"That means TGR made it to Palmaris as well?"
Yes, yes it does.

Ugh! Note to self: "No more out-sourcing adjudications! Best off to do it yourself."
Actually, I did do these myself, but after a long day out in the very hot sun. Probably baked my brain.
"That means TGR made it to Palmaris as well?"
Yes, yes it does.

The Magicians orders got royally screwed up when I entered them. The Convoys were ordered correctly and should have succeeded.
So the Mags have armies in Tarsis and Ergoth.
No affect to the retreats, so new map with the retreat results.

Well, then. Now we're down to six... and the four-way draw is still available for voting. A few builds, a few centre swaps, and we're ready for another season. Let's see what happens. There wasn't any opposition to my suggestion to tighten up the deadlines a little bit, so I'm going to try a quicker turnaround this time.
Quebec:
Remove A Quebec
Mexico:
Remove F Hudson Bay
Amazon:
Build F Bogota (nc)
Build A Rio de Janeiro
Swap Lima for Mexico City
Swap Fortaleza for Los Angeles
Sahara:
Build A Lagos
Persia:
Build F St. Petersburg
Oceania:
Builds Waived
Swap Melbourne for Hong Kong
Swap Sydney for Shanghai
Swap Port Moresby for Vladivostok
End-Game Proposal:
Four-Way draw between Quebec, Amazon, Persia and Oceania

Diplomacy World needs articles for issue #118 by J... - FlapJack (Jun 16, 2012, 10:52 pm) |
The deadline for article submissions for issue #118 of Diplomacy World (found on the web at www.diplomacyworld.net)--the oldest hobby wide zine, having been published continuously since 1973--is again rapidly approaching on July 1.
As always I'm looking for a few good variant article, but in point of fact, I encourage you to submit any article on game of Diplomacy, the hobby or any topic related to the game of Diplomacy.
The article need not be very long, articles can be as few as a 250-300, or as much as 1500 words or more since it is an exclusive web publication, space is not an issue.
DW deadlines are four times a year at 3 month intervals so if you can't make this issue so please consider contributing to the next issue. (DW deadlines are January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 for the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall issues of DW.)
You can email me at jwmchughjr(at)gmail.com or DW editor Doug Kent at diplomacyworld(at)yahoo.com
Thanks in advance for your time and attention.

Apologies for the delay. Cory got sick and forgot to text one of us to take over. But as it turns out it was simply academic time-wasting as the vote for an AGI 3-way is successful (3 yes votes and 2 NMR's which count as YES due to missing votes). I am sure the survival is a relief for France and Russia since both looked done for.

No love for Russia it seems.
NOTE: You must vote with Spring orders which are due Monday at the regularly scheduled time (Cory IS back
then). ALSO NOTE: The lack of a vote constitutes a YES!ALSO ALSO NOTE: If perchance both proposals pass the MOST INCLUSIVE one is accepted (the 4-way draw).
Happy times.

Nothing witty. Too late at night for that. Sorry to see you exit Charles. Better luck in the next one.
Interesting game though. Turkey is eliminated.
Need Winter tomorrow by 6p EDT if possible please. Won't likely be able to confirm quickly tomorrow so copy the orders box please (just so you don't wonder if I got them).

First things first, both of the endgame proposals fail, so the game continues... No centers change hands this turn. Germany steamrolls the Russian army in Prussia. Austria pushes toward both Sevastopol and Venice. Germany takes advantage of the Italian NMR and gains the North Sea. Two units are dislodged, but only one has a retreat available:
The Italian fleet in North Sea may retreat to Edinburgh, Helgoland Bight, Norwegian Sea, Skagerrak, Yorkshire, or OTB.
The Russian army in Prussia has no valid retreats and is destroyed. Since the Italian fleet has multiple retreat options, we'll have a summer 1910 retreat phase. Marc, your retreat order is due tomorrow,
