That made my day.  Sims rules supreme, even from the GM podium.

So, now we can lift the "Cone of Silence" we placed around Jim so he couldn't receive those helpful messages?  Cool. That'll send tons on the energy bill.

DC 420: Spain and Sweden thumb their noses at you - AceRimmer   (Apr 12, 2012, 2:22 pm)
In spite of a tantalizing Spring 1901, only two centers remain unclaimed: Spain and Sweden. They fart in your general direction, you children of hamsters and elderberry-smelling folk. And yet, in spite of the fact that 10 of 12 neutrals were safely claimed, the board is nonetheless rife with intrigue. In three separate locations, there is a convergence of nations. Rumania looks particularly delicious as a three-nation stew (I bet somebody is not happy there). Russia strides forward in Scandinavia. France protects the home front. And Italy does what Italy does best -- defy reason (welcome to Bohemia).
This sets up Winter 1901, the most important adjustments phase of the game. Indeed, I have ruined positions (my own) with ill-advised Winter 1901 builds before. So, take your time. Consider carefully.
The deadline is tomorrow at 14:00 CST, but remember --
I will not adjudicate tomorrow. Send your orders to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com where Garry or Mike will collect them for the Winter adjudication.
Austria: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2
England: Supp 4 Unit 3 Build 1
France: Supp 4 Unit 3 Build 1
Germany: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2
Italy: Supp 4 Unit 3 Build 1
Russia: Supp 5 Unit 4 Build 1
Turkey: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2

Fall 1901:
Austria:
F Albania - Greece
A Serbia - Rumania (*Fails*)
A Vienna - Galicia
England:
F English Channel - Belgium
F North Sea Supports F English Channel - Belgium
A Yorkshire Hold
France:
A Burgundy - Munich (*Bounce*)
A Gascony - Brest
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - Portugal
Germany:
F Denmark - Sweden (*Bounce*)
A Kiel - Holland
A Ruhr - Munich (*Bounce*)
Italy:
F Ionian Sea Convoys A Naples - Tunis
A Naples - Tunis
A Tyrolia - Bohemia
Russia:
F Gulf of Bothnia - Sweden (*Bounce*)
F Sevastopol Supports A Bulgaria - Rumania
A St Petersburg - Norway
A Warsaw - Ukraine
Turkey:
F Ankara - Constantinople
A Bulgaria - Rumania
A Constantinople - Bulgaria

I hope you all saw this line:
We're pretty much down to 3 players plus Russia on 1 dot in Ankara... and with that we have a 3-way EGI draw proposed!

I am voting YES!  Time to put this game in the books.

Thanks,

I hope you all saw this line:
We're pretty much down to 3 players plus Russia on 1 dot in Ankara... and with that we have a 3-way EGI draw proposed!

I am voting YES!  Time to put this game in the books.

Thanks,

dc423 deadline reminder - catsfather   (Apr 12, 2012, 1:09 pm)
What can I say? Austria and Italy trade centres. Actually, I had an
argument with my girlfriend not that long ago. Turns out Trieste
isn't part of Austria, but part of Italy.
England continues its clever strategy and now has both fleets behind
French lines.
France gets what France gets.
Germany gets 3 builds and bounces Russia out of Sweden.
Turkey makes clear its side in the Austria-Italy dispute.
The GM gets to be a bit bitter about NMRs. Okay, back to the game...
We have one retreat. Italy's Venice can retreat to Apulia, Piedmont,
Rome, Tuscany, Tyrolia, or OTB.
Then/and there are the builds.
Austria has one build.
France has two builds.
Germany has three builds.
Italy has one build unless the retreat Venice OTB in which case they
have two builds.
Russia has two builds.
Turkey has one build.
Italy's retreat and all builds have the same deadline, Friday at 18:00
GMT. Conditional builds such as "if Italy retreats to Pie the build
Edi otherwise build Lon" are acceptable.
Movement results for Fall of 1901. (dc423)

Pete, I agree. Your position is not insignificant. Any player holding at
least one center is not insignificant in any diplomacy game. However, the
degree of your significance is limited to voting yes for this draw vote or
being eliminated by Italy and Germany. I interpret what Mike said was only
illustrating significance on a scale from 0 to 1, rounded to the nearest whole
number, that yours is zero.
Regards,

-kevin

*Rumanians Honored By Russian Attention!*
*Italian "Stealth Tanks" Capture Marseilles Unopposed!*
*Serbian Freedom Fighters Stave Off Multi-National Threat!*

Hey all,

France is back! So everyone got their moves in. And, in general, 4-center powers seem the rule of the day. France only broke even, Russia nabbed two, and Germany pulled off the maximum three center gain! As an unbiased observer, the alliance structure is not yet clear, though I have my assumptions. I wonder if it's just as murky for those of you in the midst of it! 1902 has a way of revealing those alliances, though, so I expect to see the real war begin soon!

Here's the builds. Due tomorrow, of course, at 8:00 AM CST (13:00 GMT). I may be late adjudicating, and I will accept orders after the deadline up to the point when I begin adjudicating. Once I begin, thats the hard cutoff.

Builds:
Austria: +1 (Greece)
England: +1 (Norway)
France: Even
Germany: +3 (Bel, hol, Den)

Um. Italy gets two builds. For obvious reasons, I overlooked the stealth tanks in Marseilles. That's the downside of stealth technology I guess.

Yes, hence my point and sadly why I had to lie to France last turn (for which I have already apologized). But, I digress.

Even moreso in Seismic where a one-dot player still gets 25% of the board's seismic orders each turn.

Pete, I agree. Your position is not insignificant. Any player holding at least one center is not insignificant in any diplomacy game. However, the degree of your significance is limited to voting yes for this draw vote or being eliminated by Italy and Germany. I interpret what Mike said was only illustrating significance on a scale from 0 to 1, rounded to the nearest whole number, that yours is zero.

I hope you all saw this line:
We're pretty much down to 3 players plus Russia on 1 dot in Ankara... and with that we have a 3-way EGI draw proposed!

I am voting YES!  Time to put this game in the books.

Mike

We're pretty much down to 3
players plus Russia on 1 dot in Ankara... and with that we have a 3-way EGI
draw proposed!

I am voting YES!  Time to put this game in the books.

Thanks,

Mike

vote yay by winter, and I'll call it on that turn.  But it's not required
till spring.

dc401 f07 retreats! - FuzzyLogic   (Apr 12, 2012, 8:01 am)
"Any player holding at least one center is not insignificant in any diplomacy game."

Actually, what I wrote was "3 players plus one ultra-player in Russia on 1 dot in Ankara".  But the email seems to have lost a few of the words in transit... (?)

Subject: DC406: Fall 05 Retreat Results!

Hi All,"Now is the Winter of our Discontent" -- always wanted to start off a review with that, and considering the falling-out amongst alliances this turn, it seems totally appropriate. But what do I know, I'm only the GM. Not like I actually read any of the commentary sent to me. Who has time for THAT? Smile  (Not saying to Stop sending -- I am sure they'll make for great reading when I'm recovery from surgery some day).

Retreats are in! Half on the board, half are removed.
Dwarves: disband A Cave of Ordeals, F Timberlands - ALL SAINTS BAYGnomes: disband A DrynwynSamurai: F Fjord - Allerleirauh
Trolls: A Tumnus - Owlwood
Builds/Disbands are due tomorrow, Thursday 4/12 at 5 PM!!!  (Although I guarantee I won't get to them until Friday morning)
