DC404 1908 Summer results - RickHunter   (Apr 09, 2012, 6:16 pm)
I have looked, I believe in vain for orders from the Turk.  I'm going to quote the House Rules again:

"On a Summer or Autumn turn, an NMR would mean the dislodged unit is disbanded."

So here are the results for Summer 1908.  If I've made a mistake, please tell me.  Fall 1908 is due 4/13 at 5pm ET.

England:

F Norwegian Sea - Edinburgh

Russia:

F North Sea - Skagerrak

Turkey:

F Aegean Sea, no move received (*Disbanded*)

dc419 updated spring 1901 map file - coryfucius   (Apr 09, 2012, 5:51 pm)
I got tired of being confused by the odd colors in the default RealWorld map, since they didn't match up to the board game or to RealPolitik... so I changed them.  England is now dark blue, France is now light blue, Turkey is now yellow.  Because the open centers on the map are white, I couldn't make Russia white as well, so I made Russia gray.  No changes to the adjudication results, just the map colors. Fall 1901 orders will still be due on Thursday 4/12 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT.  Thanks! Cory

DC 420: Spring 1901 - AceRimmer   (Apr 09, 2012, 2:34 pm)
In general, my adjudications begin with a pithy, often inane and superfluous commentary. If there is any bias in the 'advice' that I give to players, it's that we need more treachery and more bloodshed. Always treachery and bloodshed (which is in striking contrast to my preferred style as a player...). After the inane commentary, I announce the next deadline. And finally, I include orders as adjudicated. Attached to each adjudication, you *should* find the current map (DC 420 current.gif), a .gif of the orders, and a .dpy file (RealPolitik file).
If I have made any mistakes, you have 24 hours to bring them to my attention, or else the mistakes stand.
So... it's Spring 1901. And I like what I see. It is clear to me that there is a metaphorical plate of cookies sitting in the middle of the table, and you gents playing are for the entire lot. We already have units in uncomfortable places (English Channel and Tyrolia) plus Russia has sent an army into St. Petersburg. I can only hope that Fall 1901 follows up with orders that are equally as tantalizing as the Spring (i.e. let's have some treachery and some bloodshed).
Fall 1901 will be due on Thursday at 14:00 CST.
Note for Winter 1901: I will be traveling, so either Garry or Mike (the Moderators) will adjudicate builds. You'll have to make sure to send your Winter 1901 orders to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com.

Spring 1901 Adjudication:
Austria:
A Budapest - Serbia
F Trieste - Albania
A Vienna - Galicia (*Bounce*)
England:
F Edinburgh - North Sea
A Liverpool - Yorkshire
F London - English Channel
France:
F Brest - Mid-Atlantic Ocean
A Marseilles - Burgundy
A Paris - Gascony
Germany:

F Kiel - Denmark
A Munich - Ruhr
Italy:
F Naples - Ionian Sea
A Rome - Naples
A Venice - Tyrolia
Russia:
A Moscow - St Petersburg
F Sevastopol - Black Sea (*Bounce*)
F St Petersburg(sc) - Gulf of Bothnia

dc423 spring 01 orders reminder - catsfather   (Apr 09, 2012, 1:19 pm)
The deadline for Spring 01 passed a few minutes ago. We have an NMR.
I emailed the person directly over an hour ago, so if you don't have
an email from me saying I don't have your orders then it's not you.
I'll run the adjudication when one of three events occur: 1) I
receive the missing orders; 2) we're four hours beyond the deadline,
22:00GMT; or 3) I've got something else to do with my evening and
can't be bothered waiting. Event 3 is likely to occur well before
event 2...
You are all able to send in amendments to orders up until the time I
run the adjudication. Please keep in mind, however, that there will
be no "oh, I got the missing orders, so you can all backout of the
changes you've just made".
Sorry about this.
Mike, I've cc'd you in on this just to keep you aware of what's going on.

How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."

*Fleet Trieste Blown Out to Sea by Freak Storm!*

Hey all,

France is apparently an NMR this round. I wonder if this was expected, as all his neighbors seem to want a piece of the French Pie. France, if you turned in orders, and I'm just overlooking them, you have 24 hours to contact me. Otherwise the NMR stands.

Beyond the NMR, most of the openings were fairly traditional. in the Round One game I GM'ed, we had Germany open Mun-Boh, and that unit proceeded to take Sevastapol in Fall 1902. I don't think any of the moves this season are quite so... unorthodox.

Well, obviously, there can't be any need for retreats from Spring 01, so we move on to Fall this thursday at 8:00 AM CST (13:00 GMT).

Thanks!

John

dc411 Game Over - notasb   (Apr 09, 2012, 8:33 am)
Board:

Austria - RickHunter - Mike Brady
England - metalwarlord - Stuart Winch
France- Godzilla - Marc Peters
Germany - Pete - Pete Marinaro
Italy - RICH3520 - RICH SLOPER - eliminated Winter '04
Russia - dkleiman - Dave Kleiman - eliminated Winter '08
Turkey - fantomas - jean-luc granier - eliminated Winter '11

The End Game Proposal passes.  We have a three way draw Austria England France.  Germany gets survival.

If I have done the math correctly the final points are:

3 Way Draw:
Austria 12 + 1.5 = 13.5
England 12 + .8 = 12.8
France 12 + 1 = 13

Survival:
Germany 4 + .1 = 4.1

Eliminated:
Italy 2
Russia 2
Turkey 2

Thank you all for playing.  I know you're busy starting up your 2nd round games but i hope you'll take time to write EOGs.  I enjoy watching games unfold, it is always interewsiting to me to hear about the game from an insiders point of view.

Best of Luck in round 2,

Christine

And so, after 7 years of war, we see the end of France... Burgundy could retreat, but only to Pic so it doesn't really matter.  Chris - write up an EOG and send it to me, and I'll save it for the end.

We do however have an interesting retreat, and that's for Italy... to send Boh to either Sil or Tri.  By tomorrow!  3pm Central.
Enjoy,
-mike

Sorry Mike, but I'm going to have to retreat to Sil. It just makes everything more interesting!

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."

"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."
DC 420: Not a reminder - AceRimmer   (Apr 09, 2012, 12:21 am)
Since this is the Blitz, I don't consider it to be my responsibility to send out reminders that there is a deadline (Monday) at 14:00 CST. What is more, I'm sure that if I did send out a reminder (which I won't), it is not something I would do a second time in this game... only as a first-turn courtesy.

Hi guys,

Just a short reminder that the deadline for your game is just over 24 hours away, at 2000GMT tomorrow (Monday 9 April). The Easter Bunny brought me an egg, so I'm feeling warm and fuzzy enough to send you a reminder - don't get too used to it!

This is a Blitz game, and so I'm going to be adjudicating with NMRs from here on in (as warned in the game start email), so please make sure you get those moves in to me please!

Best,

Jerome
