Now, that is some carnage folks! Four units dislodged. If we may safely assume that England will continue his streak on NRRs, then three of the four will result in disbandments. Perhaps all of this bloodshed will result in an end to war? Disgusted by the violence, rulers will put aside their petty geopolitical squabbles and value life? Well, at least one player is suggesting as much. There is an FGT draw proposal (what, no Austria? No Italy? No Russia?). But how can this pass without an England, you ask? Well... if England is reading, he will see this is his chance to still secure a survival. If not... well, the rules say that draws must have Yes votes from all non-eliminated players.
So... vote with your Fall orders. Votes will be tallied simultaneously with the Fall adjudication (a successful draw will supercede any and all Fall orders; anything else, and the carnage continues).
Meanwhile, this Spring...
In the West, France retreats to the safety the MAO-SPA-MAR stalemate line (not uncrackable yet, but no easy assault, either).
In the center, Italy is dislodged from Munich... but can retreat (and does auto-retreat) to Berlin!
In Russia, all the powers converge. With the last flickers of Tsarist aid, Germany disbands the Austrian army in Warsaw while Austrian armies rush up to reinforce. The Russian fleet in Sevastopol is scuttled.
And in England, the ornery Scots are ousted from Edinburgh. The English army in Ediburgh may retreat to Clyde, Yorkshire, or off the board. The order is due tomorrow at 2:00 CST.

My daughter is drawing a nature scene for her mom. You, however, are not drawing anything. No new draws proposed. You might want to double-check the adjudication, as I've been a bit hurried (you have 24 hours, of course).
As far as I can tell, there must be a big meeting scheduled at the Vatican, because almost everybody's headed toward Italy. French fleets in the Mediterranean, Turkish fleets sailing westward, Germans yodeling into Tyrolia... Fletch, you may want to get out of the way!
There is but one lone retreat: the Russian army in Moscow may retreat to St. Petersburg or Ukraine. Order due tomorrow.

What are merits and how do you get them (I've just discovered I gained some in my one not very successful game, and I'd quite like to know how come!)

dc342 ~ Imperial 1841 - sgttodd   (Sep 06, 2011, 6:22 pm)
Ok fellas, as I said, there was an error, well, more of an omission
in the .map file which controls what spaces are connected and how in
the game.

I updated the file and posted in at:
http://mainecav.org/diplomacy/imperial1841/imperial1841.map

The .zip file has also been updated at:
mainecav.org/diplomacy/rw-imperial1841.zip

Now, what that means is the Russian Fall 52 move F Ang-Eme
with support from F Aeg dislodged the US F Eme which
had to disband as there was no open place to retreat.

Not a lot of change, but it did mean the US should have had two
builds available instead of one, for loosing F Eme.

As such, I'm instituting "Winter 1852 adjustments part B" to
get the second US build, plus Spain get's another build because I
miscounted his available open home centers (Java), and China has
another build due.

So gents, get me those three builds by the usual time of day
tomorrow (Wednesday 9/7 (at) 2359) and we'll get back on track from
there.

The Fall 52 map is updated on my site, as is the .dpw file.

dc388 Fall 1905 Results - fencertim   (Sep 06, 2011, 5:41 pm)
Sorry this is later than typical....busy day at work and i had some checking to do as you will see below.

Lots of interesting action for the fall. The Russian fleet in Sevastopol was forced to retreat but since it only had one place to go I sent it to the Black Sea. Off the board is the other option if you want that option instead Andrew please let me know, otherwise you can make the decision with the Winter phase.

I want to make a rules clarification here before i (possibly) get a question.

Self Dislodgment

A country cannot dislodge or support the dislodgment of one of its own units, even if that dislodgment is unexpected. This is the one time when support is refused or negated when it would otherwise be legal. However, such orders can be written for other reasons, such as creating a standoff.

This revolves around Germany supporting Burgundy - Ruhr. I do not know the circumstance behind this but just though i would throw the rule out there. I am not implying that there was a coordinated move here.

With the Russian retreat most likely taken care of let's move on to the Winter adjustments. Italy makes two builds while Russia has a removal. Let me set that deadline for Thursday, September 8th and 4pm eastern US time.

Map and .dpy are attached. Check for errors.

Tim

DC 373: Spring 1912 - AceRimmer   (Sep 06, 2011, 12:48 pm)
"O! that a man might know
The end of this day's business, ere it come;
But it sufficeth that the day will end,
And then the end is known."
- Act V, Scene 1

Now that the drama of the English stab is past, we have entered a time of repositioning and uncertainty. Units seem to be scrambling madly around the board trying to establish some semblance of battlelines. Fingers are being stuck into dikes, but the floodwaters press. Perhaps apropos of this discussion, England occupies Holland. Yet he loses Norway and Brest. Plus, Sevastopol is endangered. Meanwhile, skitterish French fleets rush to protect Rome and Tunis from unrealized attacks, while Austria supports Greece-Aegean. Frankly, I have no idea how all this ends. Just that it will end someday. And that sufficeth for me.

Actually, it could end next Tuesday. Three different draws have been offered:
AEFG
AFG
EFG
You know the drill: (1) submit your orders without votes; (2) wait for the GM to razz you to submit a vote, and (3) conspire among yourselves to make sure none of the proposals passes.

There is one retreat, an auto-retreat. German army Galicia retreats to Bohemia. Matt, you have 24 hours to switch to a disband if you are so inclined.

Fall 1912 is due next Tuesday.

dc394 f01 results! - FuzzyLogic   (Sep 06, 2011, 9:49 am)
The game sure seems a lot more heated in this version, with 4 players being denied any build at all!  (I can see it now - scroll down quick - see if it's you!)  Cliff notes version -- it is the Barbarians, Rogues, Ogres and Samurai who come up with nothing to build.  Of course it could be worse, nobody ends on less than 3, despite some losing home centers on the first turn!  Like the Wizards... who find the Hobbits frolicking about in Baldurs Gate, and the rampaged Barbarians who seem to be hit from three sides... On a happier note, 4 players pull off the magical +3 start - the Centaurs, Hobbits, Nomads, and Pirates all inherit early-leader honors!  Many valueable centers go unclaimed this first year!
