dc358 fall 1903 results! - coryfucius   (Jan 27, 2011, 7:36 pm)
We welcome back our Tsar, just in time for him to watch his centers falling into his rivals' control.  Germany marches unopposed into Sweden, while Austria picks off Warsaw.

In the western theater, the absent (abdicated?) England is reduced to a single center, as the Kaiser plants the German flag in London.  France's counter-attack on Spain fails, and Italy pushes into MAO.

The eastern theater just got very interesting, as Turkey gets the drop on Austria, picking off both Serbia and Rumania.

Autumn retreats apply to the following dislodged units:

The Austrian army in Rumania may retreat to Budapest, Ukraine, or OTB.

The English fleet in London may retreat to Wales or OTB.

The French fleet in MAO may retreat to the English Channel, Gascony, Irish Sea, NAO, or OTB.

Winter adjustments will be due as follows:

Austria:  remove 1  (no change if retreat OTB)

England:  remove 1  (no change if retreat OTB)

France:  remove 2  (remove 1 if retreat OTB)

  Germany:  build 3

  Italy:  build 1

  Russia:  remove 1

  Turkey:  build 3

Both the autumn retreats and winter adjustments will be due tomorrow, Friday 1/28 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.  Conditional adjustment orders are acceptable only if they are contingent on autumn retreats, not on other winter adjustments.

Cory

You guys haven???t played long enough yet to earn a draw. Too many survivors left. I declare this draw proposal null and void. Go forth and conquer someone (or be conquered).

And buy some sunglasses, because that Zonotrichian green is getting to be noxious. Like some toxic sludge all over the eastern part of the board.

I don???t have much time to chat today, so it???s just the essentials. Yoko Zono seizes Moscow from Itea. Trigspor grabs (and disbands) Munich. Units all over the center of the map bounce/fail/cut.

This leaves two retreats.

Itean A Moscow auto-retreats to Livonia.
Hembrian A Brest may retreat to Gascony, Picardy, or off the map.

Please submit those tomorrow.

Then, absent any OTB retreats, Monday???s adjustments will be:

Adaria: Supp 8 Unit 7 Build 1
Itea: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0
Hembria: Supp 4 Unit 6 Remove 2
Zonotrichia: Supp 11 Unit 9 Build 2
Trigspor: Supp 7 Unit 7 Build 0

DC 341: S1908 and the Italia-Russia Front - AceRimmer   (Jan 27, 2011, 4:46 pm)
It's one of those rare moments in Diplomacy when all of the armies and fleets seem to move in one direction: Northwest. There are no retreats, but things look dire for the French. Not too peppy for the Germans either, come to think of it. However, England is likely to live another day. And Turkey finds a temporary home in Greece.

There are no retreats, so we just have another deadline next Thursday, January 34th, at 10:00 a.m. CST.

DC 341: S1908 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Jan 27, 2011, 3:17 pm)
So, I intentionally misled you with the subject line, because I want you to read this.
The adjudication is, in fact, delayed (ahem, Italy). This is Shawn's second NMR. This is the ninth NMR of this game (so, this note is not meant specifically for Shawn). This trend is disturbing because it feels like more adjudications are delayed these days than go through on time. There is no chief offender (Harry was ejected), so really, I'm not busting any one butt in particular. It's a team thing. But there have been enough delays that, well... that I'm writing this email.
The whole point of this email? I think we can finish this game without any more NMRs. Please do your best to help.
In the interests of positive reinforcement, I'd like to point out that both Catie and Gareth have beaten the deadline every season this game.
Thanks,
Adam
p.s. In case you think it can't be done... DC 345 is currently in the midst of its sixth game year without a single NMR, and it's an 8-player variant with three eliminations already!
p.p.s. As one player pointed out to me this last season, my rules do not severely penalize you for being late. You get an NMR in the club stats, and if you are a frequent abuser or are late a few days, you get booted (like Harry). Weak as it is, I still (for now) prefer this system to the harsher standard of NMR = all units hold (which can really screw a game). This means that timeliness is ultimately a matter of sportsmanship.

Diplomats,

Lots of interesting stuff happening on the board. There's been some shuffling around, trading supply centers, and lost of disagreement in the Balkans over what unit should attack, and where they should be supported. Not surprising given the four powers fighting over the territories...

We have one retreat this Autumn:

German F North Sea can retreat to Yorkshire, Helgoland Bight, or OTB

We also need the adjustments for this winter immediately. Remember that builds can be conditional, depending on the retreat:

France: Build 1

(This time with a correct subject...)

Germany:  Build 1 (If the retreat is OTB)

Italy: Remove 1

Russia: Remove 1

Turkey: Build 1

Standings:

Austria: 5

England: 3

France: 6

Germany: 6

Italy: 4

Russia: 6

Turkey: 4

Next turn: Autumn 1903 Retreats and Winter 1903 Adjustments.

Both Ukraine and Byzantium try to retreat to Odessa so both the A and F are removed OTB per the rules. The Ukrainian A in Bul successfully retreats to Macedonia. Thus we move to Winter. We have lots of Winter action!

Burgundy - build 1

Sicily - no change

Eire - build 1

Hungary - build 2

Israel - no change

Poland - disband last unit

Spain - no change

Ukraine - disband 2

Byzantium - build 3

There you go. Should be an interesting 1907! But before that we need our Winter adjustments. Those are due Thursday (the 20th) at 6pm CST. I won't update the website until we have Winter turn out there.

Garry

Little Change Due to My Ineptitude

Eire Really Doesn't Move Much, Just Positions for Next Turn and Gains Brussels

Ukraine Takes a Blood Bath Turkish Style (oh wait...guess that is Byzantine style)

A Definite Squeeze on the Middle Now as Sicily And Burgundy Fight for Their Lives

Ho Hum...Hungary Grows On

Officially Poland is Done And We Have Our First Elimination - We Wish Mikael the Best!

All,

Unfortunately I could find no orders from Dirk. Dirk - if you have a confirmation from me please share. Else we move to our retreats and then on to Winter builds. Let's get retreats by Tues 6pm and Winter by Thurs 6pm. Then we can set our Spring07 for the following Thurs. Note that I am trying to keep with WB tournament days as best possible so that people don't have a deadline every single day.

Retreats needed:

Byzantine F WBS can retreat to Ode or OTB

Ukranian A Rum can retreat to Ode or Tra or OTB

Ukranian A Bul can retreat to Thr or Mac or OTB

We will get a Winter email tomorrow night hopefully. Builds removes will definitely get interesting!

DC 359 Fall 03 Adjucation - untitled36   (Jan 27, 2011, 8:29 am)
*Austria beseiged from all sides!*
*England assists Turkey into Sevastapol!*
*French forces charge east!*

Hey all,

As the alliances appear to solidify, we see two countries lose at least half of their supply centers. Austria and Russia are on the proverbial ropes, with invaders coming from every direction. This also leads to big gains for the Italy/Turkey alliance, gaining a total of four centers between them.

Meanwhile, Germany keeps slowly growing, gaining another center in the west. The west has seen very few centers change hands, and those appear(?) to be planned and expected changes.

I've got my predictions about what will happen in the next couple of years, and possibly even what the end-game map will look like, but I'll have to hold on to those predictions till the end of the game. Still, as I always say, Diplomacy is a game of suprising upsets. I've seen giant powers fall and minor ones rise almost overnight. That's why I love the game.

Anyhoo, we had two retreats this turn. Both places only had one option for retreat, so I auto-aducated the retreats (F alb-Adr and F Sev-Arm). Either or both players can instead choose to retreat off the board, if they prefer, though in this case, since disbands are required by both countries, it's really just a semantics thing. Unless I hear otherwise, those retreats will stand. Which leads us into winter. Assuming the retreats stand:

Austria: Disband 2
Germany: Build 1
Italy: Build 2
Russia: Disband 2
Turkey: Build 2
England and France: no change

Builds (and changes to the retreats if desired) are due tomorrow by 8:00 AM CST (2:00 PM GMT). See ya then!

John

dc364 - summer 1903 - catsfather   (Jan 27, 2011, 8:08 am)
Deadline for fall orders approaching.
I won't be able to adjudicate the winter orders on Friday, so make sure
you cc those orders to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com so that the person who
does do that season sees them.
Spring on Monday will have a deadline of 5pm GMT. If that's too early
for those to the west of the Atlantic then let me know and I'll see
about leaving it to those that watch the orders(at).... inbox.
