*Austria beseiged from all sides!*
*England assists Turkey into Sevastapol!*
*French forces charge east!*

Hey all,

As the alliances appear to solidify, we see two countries lose at least half of their supply centers. Austria and Russia are on the proverbial ropes, with invaders coming from every direction. This also leads to big gains for the Italy/Turkey alliance, gaining a total of four centers between them.

Meanwhile, Germany keeps slowly growing, gaining another center in the west. The west has seen very few centers change hands, and those appear(?) to be planned and expected changes.

I've got my predictions about what will happen in the next couple of years, and possibly even what the end-game map will look like, but I'll have to hold on to those predictions till the end of the game. Still, as I always say, Diplomacy is a game of suprising upsets. I've seen giant powers fall and minor ones rise almost overnight. That's why I love the game.

Anyhoo, we had two retreats this turn. Both places only had one option for retreat, so I auto-aducated the retreats (F alb-Adr and F Sev-Arm). Either or both players can instead choose to retreat off the board, if they prefer, though in this case, since disbands are required by both countries, it's really just a semantics thing. Unless I hear otherwise, those retreats will stand. Which leads us into winter. Assuming the retreats stand:

Austria: Disband 2
Germany: Build 1
Italy: Build 2
Russia: Disband 2
Turkey: Build 2
England and France: no change

Builds (and changes to the retreats if desired) are due tomorrow by 8:00 AM CST (2:00 PM GMT). See ya then!

John
