The rules will be standard house rules (http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/info.php?type=houserules )
I live in South Africa, so will need to adjudicate on Wednesday mornings when I get to work (5:30 ish GMT). This gives a natural period of grace for getting orders in a little late, so there should be no excuses for NMRs! I will try to
send reminders the day before, but real life may prevent that.
Use DC and game number when assigned in the subject line as I am playing a number of games and running a tournament on the Stabbeurfou site, so may get confussed!
To all, good luck!

This likely won't come as a surprise to anyone, but both England and Russia failed to send retreat orders. Since there was more than one possible destination for both dislodged units, it's not possible for me as GM to order a retreat... so both units are removed from the board!
Fall 1903 orders will be due Thursday 1/27 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.

Deadline for fall orders approaching.
I won't be able to adjudicate the winter orders on Friday, so make sure
you cc those orders to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com so that the person who
does do that season sees them.
Spring on Monday will have a deadline of 5pm GMT. If that's too early
for those to the west of the Atlantic then let me know and I'll see
about leaving it to those that watch the orders(at).... inbox.

I've sent out an e-mail to see if anyone from the Statesmen/South Embassy is interested in signing up at DiplomaticCorp and take over France.
Well, Michael, if you turn France's position around, you'd have done better; than, I did at the Statesmen/South Embassy first by getting eliminated as Austria and then replacing and getting eliminated as France.
Gerald, if no one is willing to take over France in the current positioning, we could treat France like Switzerland in Standard or Italy in the first year of the 2-player World War I scenario until a replacement is found. How does rendering French units and centers impassable sound to everyone?

Hi Folks,
Only a few days late on this one.
Both the R/T draw and the Turkish solo votes fail. BUT, fear not, for we have two more proposals now on the table. One is the DIAS that you all saw, and the other is again for a Turkish solo. Votes will be due with the FALL orders.
We have one retreat due, from France:
French F Spain(sc) can retreat to Portugal or OTB. I'll make that due on Wednesday January 26, 17:00 MST, but if I get it by tomorrow I could be able to run it tomorrow.
A point of note, Russia mis-ordered Belgium by calling it Picardy, so you will see nmr for two of his units.

Hi gang,
To answer all your questions... no you didn't miss them.... I did. For some reason I guess I thought it was spring and I had a week or so to put this one out of my mind. Plus I've been extremely busy with various things. Bottom line is, I have to apologize for my tardiness. Here is winter:
Germany builds armies in Kiel and Berlin, England a fleet in Edinburgh, and Italy a fleet in Rome. Maps are attached. Spring due in one week, Monday January 31 2011.

DC356 Fall 1902 Results - with maps - cbconnell (Jan 24, 2011, 10:31 pm) |
Welcome to the Game Grid:
We are now in the midst of the action. We had four major fronts of battle, the Mid-Atlantic Ocean, Marseilles, Norway, and Trieste. England prevailed in the ocean, and held it's own in Norway, France was able to hold off the German advances into Marseilles, and Austria was able to withstand - and even push back - Italy. This has been a year of survival, growth, retreat and failed advances. It all depends on your perspective whether it was good or not!
We have some building and disbanding that needs to happen before we move on to Spring.
Italy: Remove 1.
Russia: Build 1.
Turkey: Build 1.

DC 363 WB11 - Spring 1903 Results - Corrino (Jan 24, 2011, 8:39 pm) |
Hi Players,
Sorry that took a little long. Our friend the Sultan had me scrambling for the rulebook again. The orders in question were these. Would you allow these moves?
F Bulgaria(ec) - Constantinople
F Constantinople - Bulgaria(sc)
Realpolitik did not. After consulting the rules, the tournament directors and I agreed. It seems logical enough, but the rules are clear that fleets on either coast occupy the entire province, and no two units in adjacent provinces can switch places EXCEPT when a convoy is utilized, as Turkey did last year. So, the result of these orders is a bounce, with neither unit moving. (See the end of this message for the relevant rules.)
Now that we've settled that, what actually happened on the rest of the board? Quite a lot, actually. Germany and Austria both are getting hammered from all sides.
Germany and Austria are getting hammered from all sides.
Still, as much as Austria is on the ropes, the whole Balkan area looks like it's still up for grabs. Just for fun, I looked at every Austrian and Balkan dot. There isn't a single one that can be held, without help, by the
country currently occupying it. Pretty cool... to watch.
The Italian army quits Africa, but for the Dalmatian coast, not the mid-East as the Sultan feared.
France flips sides, or does he? He helps England take Kiel, but claims London for himself. Is it a double-cross, or simply a payment for services rendered?
Germany does make one good guess, blocking the Russian advance to Baltic and causing a three-fleet bounce all the way back to St. Pete.
All added up together, I think it sets us up for a very entertaining Fall season. I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am!
Cheers,
Chris

======================================
Relevant excerpts from the rules relating to the attempted movement of Turkish fleets in Bul and Con.
Bulgaria, Spain, and St. Petersburg: These are the only coastal
provinces that have two separately identified coasts. A Fleet entering
one of these provinces enters along one coast and can then move
to a province adjacent to that coast only. The Fleet, nevertheless,
is considered to be occupying the entire province. Such a Fleet
should be placed on the coastline rather than completely inland.
For example, a Fleet at
Spain???s North Coast can???t be ordered to move
to the Western Mediterranean or to the Gulf of Lyon or to Marseilles.
It is, however, considered to be occupying all of Spain.
and
Units can???t trade places without the use of a convoy. If
two units are each ordered to the province that the other
occupies, neither can move.[Reply] |

Once again, England and Russia NMR...
Germany and Italy both move in force against France, while France seeks to stem his losses by picking off Liverpool. Germany sails to the English Channel, but inconsistent orders leave his army stuck in Denmark. Austria marches into Moscow, but sees Turkey's armies move westward to occupy Greece. Turkey's Black Sea fleet also trips up, as it's ordered to convoy an army that moves elsewhere.
There are two retreat orders due, so there will be a summer 1903 retreat phase:
The English army in Liverpool may retreat to Clyde, Yorkshire, or OTB.
The Russian army in Galicia may retreat to Bohemia, Warsaw, or OTB.
Although both players who have retreats due have had mulitple NMRs, they are entitled to return to this tournament game at any time, so I'll run the turn as if they will submit retreats. The summer 1903 retreat orders are due tomorrow, Tuesday 1/25 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.
