Since we are broadcasting in the open... A draw was voted down two turns ago... I'll vote for a draw or a solo but its time to let this game go...

DC301 - TTP - Austrian Solo Proposal (dc301) Kendercommander May 18, 05:43 pm |
As the proposed Soloist [who is quite a few centres short and is a few years away from a legitimate one], I'd like to publicly support the DIAS, and publicly vote NO on the solo, even if it the second part IS just a hallow gesture now. I am flattered by the attention, though.
I'm curious if I could've wriggled my way towards the solo, but all the enjoyment is more-or-less gone from that -- I'd either achieve this through someone yielding centres to effect an end, or else through grinding my way forward bit by bit...
Not to sound arrogant, but no one else is really poised to be a board leader when/if you all stand against me, and it'll take years after my decline for someone to emerge into that role. And, if you don't stand against me, it's likely because of boredom with this game. Neither is a good option this late.
Ordinarily I am quite opposed to DIASes with fewer than about 3 casualties. But I won't derive any particular satisfaction from trying to wipe out any remaining players.
So, hopefully you all will vote yes to end the atrocity of war!
That said...

ACD236/DC288: Balkans1860 Fall 1866 Results: Tries... - teflongnome (May 18, 2010, 6:41 am) |
Retreat to Venezia is fine.
>>> Benjamin Hester <screwtape777(at)gmail.com> 5/17/2010 6:28 PM >>>
You know, it just dawned on me that I called the last adjudication
Fall 1866, when in fact it was Spring 1866. My apologies for that
screw up. So now that the space-time continuum has re-established
itself, and we find ourselves in the *real* Fall of 1866, some very
interesting events are unfolding...but first, our usual historical
context...
Trieste was born Tergeste, an Illyrian settlement captured by the
Romans in 177 BC. Tergeste remained Roman, and then Byzantine, until
the Lombards sacked the city in 567 AD. Later in 1382, Trieste
appealed to the Habsburg crown for protection against the strength of
Venice, and was integrated into Austria-Hungary.
Historically, Italy then received Trieste as spoils of World War I
from the collapsing Austrian state, but in our Balkan Wars, we find
Serbs as the occupiers. Italy denies Austria the support needed to
hold the line in Trieste against the Romanian and Serbian invaders.
Elsewhere, the Greeks do a marvelous job of repelling Serb, Bulgarian,
and Romanian invaders on all fronts, save Anatolia, as the Bulgarians
begin to draw the net around the last Ottoman outpost in Izmir. A
fierce naval battle in the Gulf of Izmir results in a draw. Romanian
armies weave their way cautiously through Serb and Bulgarian lands,
making their way to the front.
The Bulgaria/Greece/Rumania draw is voted down vigorously.
***NEXT DEADLINE: The next deadline for Winter 1866 will be Thursday, May 20,
2010 at 1700 EST. I have auto-retreated Allen's Army in Trieste to

7 of you should have a player list from DC. Inform me of any issues. I have cc'd an 8th player who signed up as 1 of the original players has mentioned airline troubles in Europe. If continues, need that player to speak up so can let another player in but with the long lead time to 1st turn I assume that will not be an issue. A few players had short prefs lists & 1 got a country not on same.
My time is PST USA. Should be about 4PM my time = Mid GMT. Include at least COL in subject line for my mail sort. Will tidy up the DC game page later.

2010/5/18 Sean O'Donnell <sean_o_donnell(at)hotmail.com>
Hello Frank,
I apologize for my end of that; unfortunately, the damage is done without neither Michael nor I being sure what caused the problem. So, I am ensuring that the issue isn't repeated... I hate NMRing.

Regardless whether he's regarded to be in CD or not, I think it's unfair to the other players to NMR. Worse, it shows no respect at all for two powers that have just been eliminated despite all their efforts to stay alive...
2010/5/17 Michael Thompson <psychosis(at)sky.com>
I've received a couple of queries as to Italy's status in the game, given an NMR from him for Fall 1906 moves and also for Winter 1906 adjustments.
This *doesn't* place Italy in Civil Disorder...in my house rules, I note that civil disorders are caused by two consecutive NMRs. However, for the purposes of counting NMRs, Spring and Summer count as one season, and Fall, Autumn and Winter as another. To trigger the two consecutive rule, a player needs to miss a move submission in Spring/Summer and then again in Fall/Autumn/Winter (or Fall/Autumn/Winter and then again in Spring/Summer) - so an NMR in Spring and then the lack of a retreat in Summer only counts as one NMR. Or in the case of Italy recently, an NMR for Fall and then again for Winter only counts as one NMR.
Hope this makes sense. I'll acknowledge that this isn't 100% clear in my rules, but this rule is a fairly standard one across the DC site...
Upshot of this is, Italy isn't in civil disorder, as his previous NMR was for Spring 1905. However, if he misses Spring 1907 orders or any Summer 1907 retreats, then he will be placed in civil disorder.
Michael

Chosokabe Motochika was the lord of Tosa Province, who extended his
domain to control all of Shikoku, albeit briefly. He was able to
defeat the rival Ichijo clan of Iyo, but unable to repel the 100,000
men that Toyotomi Hideyoshi brought to the shores of Shikoku.
***TEAHOUSE COMMENTARY: Our Chosokabe player has fared much better
than his namesake, controlling al of Shikoku, the majority of Kyushu,
and a fair stake of Honshu to boot. Asakura's grip of the imperial
throne in Kyoto is threatened by the encircling Chosokae forces.
Meanwhile, Mori dislodges the last remaining Shimazu fleet from Iwami

(DC 324) A Stab in the Dark - Fall 1903 Results - Corrino (May 17, 2010, 10:47 pm) |
Players,
Goodness, gracious! There's a whole lotta shakin' going on this season in Stab Land. Forget the sneaky stuff. Let's rummmble!
21 units are involved in conflicts raging across Europe. Germany appears to be the new epicenter of the war but there's plenty to go around. Not to say we don't have quiet pockets, too. Things are strangely through the Med this season, and then there is the black hole of Britain. Will the sun ever rise on this British Empire?
We have two retreats due, one for the Russian fleet in Denmark and the other for the English fleet in Brest.
RETREAT DEADLINE is 8 pm Eastern US time on Tues, 5/18. The sooner the better.
Once I have the retreats I'll send out the SC counts and the
Autumn reports with adjustments due.
Cheers,
Chris
Rule Clarification: If a foreign power occupies one of your owned SC, whether it was an original SC or a captured SC, that information will be given to you in your country report. However, you only get that information for as long as you own the SC. Once the next Fall turn has passed and the SC no longer belongs to you, the SC vanishes from your sight. Don't assume that the other player left just because you're not seeing him in your report any more. Once you lose an SC you're not entitled to know what's going on there until you can recapture it and hold it through a Fall turn.

ACD236/DC288: Balkans1860 Fall 1866 Results: Tries... - Kenshi777 (May 17, 2010, 5:28 pm) |

Doesn't make a difference on the map, but I understand it might be important diplomatically. Just so you are all aware. It was an error on my side. I'm not sending out a new DPY unless someone sees a need. If anyone really wants one, I'll be happy to though!

DC302 Clarification - bielf11 (May 17, 2010, 2:25 pm) |
