Sorry about the NMR... All services appear to be back in order but it might be worth copying in dybeck(at)gmail.com. Hamish - if I submit orders from that address it is still me!!

Subject: dc492 fall 1907

Some amazing politeness amongst the anti-English ... "no, no, you keep it.  I'll move out."
An unlucky bounce for England near Turkey.

And Germany playing the long game in Finland.
I believe I've an NMR from Turkey.  Turkey, if I'm wrong then get in touch.
So...

Germany's got two retreats:
German F Denmark can retreat to Skagerrak or Baltic Sea.German A Piedmont can retreat to Tuscany.
And:

England has two builds.Germany must remove one ... unless they retreated on unit off the board ... or they have a build if they retreated two units OTB.
Russia removes one.
Turkey builds one.
Retreats, builds, and removals due 8am BST on Saturday.

Hey all,
It's getting down to the wire. Germany's up to 15 centers. And France appears to be helping out the German Overlords. Can the rest of the board stop the solo? Or will we all be eating Sauerkraut and speaking German?

Winter is easy. Only Germany has builds. We also bid farewell to the English. Thanks for playing!

I was thinking about this deadline thing and how deadlines should be deadlines.  As an aside to this game, if you were in a future game with me and the deadline was, instead of 8pm BST on a Monday and Thursday, was 8AM on the Tuesday morning and Friday morning and enforced rigidly then how would you feel?  I'd like to try it for the next Blitz.

I think deadlines should be very rigid. debate up front, perhaps, but once set ... that's it.
To me, part of the game is knowing the deadlines. I know we all
get a little behind at times, and I've benefited from leniency as well as anyone, but a missed turn, or the realization that you have to rush to get a turn in is a lot more "realistic" than having the leniency taken advantage of.

Thanks Warren for running the game.  Probably wasn't the most
enjoyable one you've done.

Hi gang,

The draw, somewhat to my surprise, passes.  The game is over,
with Turkey surviving after 12 straight nmrs.

Congratulations to Douglas and Greg on the draw, and to those
that stuck it out for a survival.  Thanks especially to those
that submitted orders all the way through!

I will get things fixed up on the DC site for the WB standings.

Cheers,

Warren

DC491 End Game Proposal - untitled36   (May 10, 2014, 9:51 am)
Hey all,

A proposal is on the table for a German Solo. It requires every living player to vote yes to pass. Votes are secret, and I will only announce Pass or Fail, NOT the vote (such as 4 yes, 2 no). If the solo passes, then the scores for this game will be:

Austria: 4.4
England: 4.1
France: 4.2
Germany: 21.3
Italy: 4.7
Russia: 2 (as an eliminated player, his vote is not counted)
Turkey: 4.7

Votes due with Spring moves.

John

Two players have been eliminated this turn, Germany and England.  Failing to submit orders for many years will cause that to happen...... unless you are playing Turkey apparently.

Don't forget to VOTE with your spring orders!! An R/F draw is on the table.

Austria defaulted on his disband order, and RP tried to disband Greece.  I overrode that, it is definitely not the way I learned the rules.  I disbanded the one that is not in an SC, Galicia.  Any objections, let me know.

I'll get the turn resolved at diplomaticcorp later tonight.
