The deadline is extended to Monday because I forgot France was away.

There is, by-the-way, a proposal for a 3-way draw between France, Germany,
and Italy.

Votes on that are also due Monday, the 5th.

Theres a proposal on the board for an Egypt/Ukraine/France/Poland Draw. The remainder would get survivals. Actual due date is before the spring turn. If you get them in by winter thats great-- If the draw passes Winter will have been the last turn though.

ROCK THE VOTE!

Ooops made a mistake. Germany's orders should read:

Germany:
A Belgium - Picardy
A Burgundy Supports A Paris
A Kiel - Berlin
A Munich Supports A Burgundy
A Paris Supports A Belgium - Picardy
A Ruhr - Kiel
A Warsaw, no move received

Sorry about this, I don't think it changes winter results but you may want to take another look at the board.

1648 091010: Deadline Reminder - charlesf   (Apr 02, 2010, 5:17 am)
Hi guys,

as you know, I've scheduled the coming Spring 1656 deadline for next Wednesday, so please get your prelims in no later than Monday.

I shall be offline until late Monday (a bank holiday over here, as is Good Friday) as I'm heading for the Baltic shore (hoping the weather shall remain decent!).

Frohe Ostern!

Hi guys,

just a friendly reminder that our deadline's now in less than 24 hours. Wednesday, 6 PM CET.

While I've touched upon this point in quite a few private mails, I think a more general reminder can't do any harm:

The Imperial Crown only changes hands in winter since it is then that actual SC control changes. As builds follow upon winter SC control changes, it follows that HRE privileges may be immediately used upon receiving the imperial honour.

Now, I think this is quite clear from the following sentence in the variant rules: "The Great Power owning the most HRESCs is considered the Holy Roman Emperor and enjoys the described building privileges. The title only is transferred whenever one single Great Power other than the present office-holder (initially Austria) controls the most HRESCs." But my question is to you: Do you think I ought to further elaborate on that or is that sufficiently clear? Did anyone not understand how these things work from reading the rules?

Cheers,

Charles

I think that everything could be inferred from the last paragraph, but the one that precedes it makes the game specifics very clear.  Adding a version of it to what you already have makes the rule more immediately comprehensible.

Blitzers,

I'm terribly sorry to not have gotten this out yesterday evening. Completely my mistake - I forgot about it. I hope I will not make that mistake again. To make things fair I'll make the next deadline due in 24 hours - which will leave you a little less time to diplome for the spring, but will give you 24 hours for the winter adjustments. If I receive orders marked "FINAL" from all of you before the normal deadline (about 13 hours from now) I'll go ahead and adjudicate then.

One final note: Please make sure to copy the orders box (orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com (orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com)) with your orders so that if a backup GM steps in he will have your orders!

Brian,

I understand your disappointment with the recent adjudication. I also acknowledge that I was late with Thursday's adjudication.

However, this is the Winter Blitz - a fast moving tournament. Once you realized that I was late you could have submitted conditional build orders. In fact, the last round I had a player who consistently submitted moves, retreats and builds all together.

I think that under the circumstances I did what was best. I did allow a full 24 hour window of submitting orders for the winter, making the winter adjudication late as well.

There is nothing that I can do about the orders right now since they have been revealed - short of correcting mistakes that I might have made.

DC292: Fall 1913 - FLTeacher   (Apr 01, 2010, 11:01 pm)
Wow ... it was tough and go right up till the end. At first I wanted to work with Germany -- having lived in Canada for 17 years I figured we could trust each other, but England was just so much more available for communication and he pushed for us to attack Germany -- and I really didn't hesitate.

I tried to keep open communication with as many players as possible. Turkey continued to ask for my help against Italy and Austria, but Italy wasn't coming after me so I wasn't going after them.

As the game progressed, I continually warned Austria of Russia's desire for a solo victory. I really tried working with England, but there was some slow communication and he took a move that was actually meant to help him against Russia as a stab. It wasn't a stab. I could not convince otherwise. Frankly, it would have been the wimpiest stab in the history of the game, but England was dead set on it being a threat so he continued to threaten me unless I removed it. Communication with England, although consistent was also not really ... nice. He was bossy and a know-it-all. Even when I had weakened him significantly and warned him about the Russian/Austrian danger, England continued to threaten me if I didn't leave his waters. I was tired of all my attempts to reach an agreement where we could work together with him.

Finally Austria woke up to the danger of a Russia solo. England continued to hang on until Russia was convinced to by me to wipe him out. I no longer had to worry about that pesky 4th fleet.

When Austria retreated to Piedmont, I become concerned that the Russian/Austrian alliance might once again be on. I couldn't just sit back and do be overrun. I could protect Marseilles, but not Spain or Tunis. I needed to replace them. I went for Belgium and Naples. Luckily my fears regarding Austria were wrong and thankfully, my surprise attacks against Belgium and the seas surrounding England were successful.

I am not sure who did not vote for the first Russia/France/Austria proposal, but I am very thankful that this EOGP passed.

Congrats to all for a wonderfully entertaining game. Good luck to you all in Round 2.

Anthony/France.

France: Draw with 8 Centers
Germany: Eliminated Spring '03
Italy: Eliminated Fall '08
Russia: Draw with 13 Centers
Turkey: Eliminated Fall '06

This has been an absolutely fantastic game to Run. You all have been a great, dynamic team and I would be honored to play with, GM, or be GMd by each and every one of you. And another fall comes upon us... without a spring to follow. The Three Way Austro-Russo-French draw has passed. The final result is:

Austria: Draw with 13 Centers
England: Eliminated Fall '11
France: Draw with 8 Centers
Germany: Eliminated Spring '03
Italy: Eliminated Fall '08
Russia: Draw with 13 Centers
Turkey: Eliminated Fall '06

This has been an absolutely fantastic game to Run. You all have been a great, dynamic team and I would be honored to play with, GM, or be GMd by each and every one of you. Every turn, I have been shocked by what suprises you guys have in store for everyone, including myself. Everyone, even those of you who've been eliminated, played very well. Feel free to send out EOG statements, and good luck in all your future endeavors.

DC292: Fall 1913 (Winter Blitz) FLTeacher Apr 01, 11:01 pm
Wow ... it was tough and go right up till the end.

I've been told the link doesn't work correctly so I'm attaching a gif.

I'll get our DC page updated in about half an hour.

It must be because it's April Fools Day but my computer is out to get me. Just because I found it so funny I'm attaching the map that opened when I first tried to adjudicate:
