Hi,
That's all folks. The England/France draw passes with a unanimous vote. So a big congratulations to Alfred and Wladimir, and also to all that survived until the end. It was a good one, thanks to everyone that played.
I'll get the results entered and posted at DC as soon as I can.
End game map is attached, although I know you've all seen it before.
Cheers,
Warren[Reply] |

Dear all,
many thanks for such a good game and apologies especially to Sam who I stabbed despite having a good thing going. I hope I also demonstrated, probably to some people’s surprise, my willingness to not stab fra, even though I had at times some ample opportunity, especially in the forthcoming turn, but I gambled on a two way and am very pleased with that. I always try to identify one ally and game allowing stay with them for the whole game. I would like to offer my thanks to Warren for being such a great gm, I’d love him to publish his thoughts on the game. I also would like to thank Wladimir for being such a thoughtful and communicative ally, always ready to listen and challenge my duff ideas, without doubt the best ally I have had in diplomacy. I would also like to thank Michael for all of his correspondence.
I think ultimately what made the biggest difference, as well as fra and eng’s willingness to stick together was the unresolved eastern triangle, with tur not building a fleet at the end f 01 and ah and tur bashing each other in a stalemate it left fra and eng to resolve the west and then move on. I’d be interested to hear other people’s interpretation of the game.
Best wishes
Alfred Nicol

DC224 Summer Retreats 17: Sorry for the Delay - garry.bledsoe (Mar 29, 2010, 5:18 pm) |
All,Apologies for the delay. AT&T messed up my U-Verse install so I don't have access at home and I only have RealWorld on my PC. Fortunately someone was able to help me out!
We have retreats to:
Ishtar
Sea of Fallen Stars
Pwyll
We also have one correction - Troll F Thon bounced the A that moved to Cave of Ordeals. I missed the order for F Thon-Cave of Ordeals. My error. Shouldn't have affected the retreats. This reflects that change.
Let's keep our Fall deadline of April 2nd at 6pm CST.

A Naval Battle for the Ages Wages In Razor's Edge But The Ogren Navy Stands Firm
An Ogre Solo is Proposed
All,
We do have some retreats:
Undead F Timberlands can retreat to Istar or SAVAGE SEA.
Rogue F ZEBOIMS DEEP can retreat to Pwyll.
Troll F BABEL BEACH can retreat to SEA OF FALLEN STARS or Golgafrincham.
Obviously any of these can also go OTB.
Let's get retreats in by Saturday at 6pm CST (although I may not get to the adjudication until Sunday...I am moving this weekend to a new house).
From there, we will set Fall 17 as Friday April 2nd at 6pm CST.
Our vote will occur with Fall orders although I am certain that it is likely to fail given what I know of the players here.
Please double-check these - the Ogres in particular as there was an order for a non-existant A in Hoarluk and missing orders for two other A's.
Please yell with concerns (and, NO, "parlay" is not an acceptable yell!).

1648 091010: Fall 1655 Moves (Corrected) - charlesf (Mar 29, 2010, 5:04 pm) |
Hi guys,
as I wrote you players, I only noticed that I had not adjucated with the proper orders right after pressing the mail send button. I thought I had cancelled the mail transfer in time, but unfortunately that was not the case. I apologise for this gaffe of mine. Perhaps I should not drink any wine on adjucation nights! Anyway, what's below has been amended so as to reflect the proper events of this season.
---
If you thought the English would hold on to Novgorod, well, you were mistaken. The Poles retook the ancient city as Cromwell's men focused on securing territory in the East (in doing so, routing the Turkish auxilliaries that had been assisting the Poles these past seasons).
Malicious rumours of Sweden's continued decline proved quite false as Charles X managed to hold on to Brandenburg. Louis XIV earned another easy conquest, next to forcing the Polish Jutland army to surrender after its many exploits.
Now, there are no retreats pending, so it's just adjustments this winter (31 March). Thereafter, we may either move on to a Monday or Wednesday deadline, depending on what players' holiday schedules. I'm expecting some deadline extension request, so Spring 1656 probably will be on post-Easter Wednesday.
Cheers,
Charles

Hi guys,
as I wrote you players, I only noticed that I had not adjucated with the proper orders right after pressing the mail send button.
Rumours of Sweden's continued decline proved quite false as Charles X managed to hold on to Brandenburg.
Cheers,
Charles

1648 091010: Corrected Adjucation in the pipeline - hmtucaz (Mar 29, 2010, 4:36 pm) |
Charles -
So glad you are correcting this. I guess it means that my moves gave me the solo win. No need to do the maps. Instead you can just announce my victory.
I'll accept everyone's congratulations and I thank you all for a good game.
My End of Game Statement is simple - Hey Ma, it was a tough fight, but I won.
Now, on to the next game.
Harvey

Hi guys,
I'm afraid I missed a set of later orders and hence the adjucation I sent out earlier is invalid. Actually, I noticed my mistake as the message was being sent and stopped the message transfer. Or so I thought. I now see it made it out into cyberspace after all.
I'm currently working on the corrected adjucation and it should be going out to you shortly.
Sorry about this gaffe of mine.

dc316 spring 1901 results! - coryfucius (Mar 29, 2010, 4:20 pm) |
Spring 1901 arrives, and most of the opening moves are pretty conventional. The English Channel is left open, Germany sends his fleet to Denmark, Russia and Turkey bounce in the Black Sea. There is one other contested space, as Austria and Russia bounce in Galicia.
Since there are no retreats due, we go directly to Fall 1901, for which orders will be due Thursday, April 1 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Thanks!
Cory

Hi guys,
if you thought the English would hold on to Novgorod, well, you were mistaken. The Poles retook the ancient city as Cromwell's men focused on securing territory in the East (in doing so, routing the Turkish auxilliaries that had been assisting the Poles these past seasons).
Sweden's decline has continued unabated as the March of Brandenburg was seized by imperial troops that evacuated Lower Saxony, no doubt in view of the heavy odds there stacked against them. This gave Louis XIV another easy conquest, next to forcing the Polish Jutland army to surrender after its many exploits.
Now, there are no retreats pending, so it's just adjustments this winter (31 March). Thereafter, we may either move on to a Monday or Wednesday deadline, depending on what players' holiday schedules. Hi guys,
if you thought the English would hold on to Novgorod, well, you were mistaken.
I'm expecting some deadline extension request, so Spring 1656 probably will be on post-Easter Wednesday.
Cheers,
Charles

dc318 - Winter Blitz 2010 Spring 1901 results - z93blom (Mar 29, 2010, 2:08 pm) |
There have been a few questions with regards to the English NMR. I am aware that it might cause unbalance across the board if a player does not send in any orders, especially for the first few turns. However, the rules for the Winter Blitz tournament clearly state that NMR's will be adjudicated, and no replacements will be found. A player may rejoin after any number of missed turns. See http://diplomaticcorp.com/tournament.php?display=rules.
The game is perfectly playable even if England never submits an order. It's just a different game than the one you are all used to.

DC300 - Spring 1905 adjudication - bielf11 (Mar 29, 2010, 11:55 am) |
Spring 1905: heavy fighting in western Europe in Belgium and Burgundy and on the North Sea.
In England Russia sneaks through the backdoor and occupies Liverpool (rumor has it that this is start of Russian money pooring into the Blackpool area); Italy takes a shot at Marseille but is bounced by the French fleet from the Golf of Lyon; down south Italy is more successful in Greece which had just been vacated by the Russians; Turkey survives the Russian attack on Smyrna but has to surrender Bulgaria.
The German army in Belgium is forced out by the French. Retreat required. See below.

Cmon Clark. Everyone knows that carcass (especially French carcass) is best eaten fresh, before it spoils.

[quote:c1a1cfce0f]Hey all,
First off, the draw fails. Looks like we'll keep this ball rolling a while
longer!
This turn sees France under attack by pretty much everyone. Thus Clark loses
one unit and two others have to retreat. (I auto retreated Pru-Lvn and
Bel-Pic as they were the only options besides OTB. If you want OTB you know
the drill!).

Hey all,
France fends off the invading hordes (at least for the moment), breaking even on centers, and thus getting two builds because of the two units this year that were destroyed. Russia also moves against England, signalling a possible glimmer of hope for the besieged Frenchman? Yet England also gets a build this year as he likewise broke even on centers, and the destruction of Army Berlin frees up supplies at home.
Also, I did auto-retreat Hol-Rhu. OTB is always an option, and builds can be conditional based on what Clark officially decides to do. And you know the drill, builds due tomorrow at 15:00 GMT.
