dc296 Round 1 Board 6 - Fall 1906 Results - bielf11   (Feb 18, 2010, 5:19 pm)
I owe all of you my apologies.I was totally convinced I had submitted the orders for Germany. And had received confirmation.I was even so convinced that, when I saw the adjudication and my NMR, I was sure Fredrik had made an error. So I searched my mailbox to find the evidence of my email to Fredrik and then found... none. I don't know why I was so convinced that I had sent it but there is no evidence of it. Perhaps it's because I have been so busy these last few days.
Anyway, facts are Germany has NMR'd. My apologies to all of you for letting you down. Especially the players that were relying on my orders - the others probably don't mind the opportunities that were created by my NMR.

I will be travelling most of Saturday and have limited access to email from Saturday till Saturday the week after. I expect however to issue my orders in time.
Frank

Blitzers,

Argh. We are once again plagued by two NMRs - Germany and Turkey. Things are changing though, with Austria moving in on the Italian peninsula - but the French counter by occupying most of the British Isle.

Then we have the adjustments as well:
Austria: Build  1
England: Remove  1
France: Build  0 (or 1 if the retreat is OTB)
Germany: Remove  1
Russia: Build  2
Turkey: no changes.

Hey everybody,

Deadline in a couple of hours. If I haven't acknowledged you I haven't got your adjustments. You may get a reprieve for a few hours tonight as I'm writing a 3 hour exam starting right around the deadline..... don't count on it, but maybe.

Later,

The excitement builds... - FuzzyLogic   (Feb 18, 2010, 3:52 pm)
Hi all,

Nothing like a little artificially created excitement to get a game off to a good start... just letting you all know that we're at 17 players now, 2 more and we'll be off and running! If you haven't already, I'll need each of you to confirm that you're in this game to the end. This is a big map, so if you should be so lucky as to do well, it could be well over a year of real life time. I fully expect it will go this long. If that's not ok, *now* is the time to opt out. And if you should be one of those less lucky who gets slammed, I need to know that you're in it to the death.

This variant is a personal creation of mine that took about 3 months to develop, followed by two previous plays! I have sent out a lot of invites for this game -- and only invited people that I've either played against and had a good experience with, or who have come highly regarded by somoene else, or so on... net result is that I think we have an outstanding group here. Some excellent diplomats that I haven't seen in years have come out of the woodwork for this game, so I'm excited to get it going!

If you haven't yet, be sure to read up on the 3 basic rule additions (they're not that complex really, it's just the Eternal Build Centers, the Underworld, and the Rivers) at www.dipwiki.com?title=Haven.

So get back to me...
* To confirm your interest, and that you know it could be a year long game and you're ok w that
* To give me a list of preferences if you like, or take your chances with random

Thanks!
-mike

1926 091119: Spring 1929 Moves - charlesf   (Feb 18, 2010, 3:27 pm)
Hallo zusammen,

I'll leave the reading of the tea-leaves to you. Suffice to say Europe's not going to run out of conflicts anytime soon...

Preliminary Fall Orders are now due no later than Tuesday, 6 PM CET.

Yet of course, Harvey will have to submit his retreat orders first, that deadline coming up on Saturday. Unless Harvey signals that I may adjucate prior to the set deadline, expect that retreat adjucation sometime on Sunday.xm

Liebe Grüsse,

Charles

dc291 deadline reminder! - coryfucius   (Feb 18, 2010, 2:52 pm)
The fall 1905 deadline is only a few minutes away, and I am still missing orders from at least one player. If you sent your orders to Garry and the Orders box, please forward them to me, I have returned to my GM duties. If you had not yet sent orders, you will have a bit of a grace period, I'll be away from my computer for at least an hour after the official 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT deadline. Thanks, everyone!

DC 293: F1906 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Feb 18, 2010, 10:29 am)
The vote for a Russian solo fails.

So does the French effort to get into Tuscany. And the ER attempt to eliminate Germany. And pretty much everything that Italy tried.

Plus, two units are dislodged:

Russian F Kiel may retreat to Baltic Sea, Denmark, or off the board.
French F Wales may retreat to English Channel, Irish Sea, or off the board.

In light of all this failure, I have decided that nobody gets to build this year. If you can't deliver the goods, then you don't deserve to build... except for Turkey. He outsmarted Italy by ducking into the Tyrrhenian Sea, sliding into Naples, and NOT attacking Ionian. So, he gets all the builds. Plus a box of chocolates. God has spoken to me. He wills it.

So, once again, EVERYBODY must submit orders by tomorrow. France and Russia have retreats. Remember: retreats and adjustments will be adjudicated simultaneously! The adjustments are below (and, yes, I will relent and allow England to build two units, for our God is a merciful God, and besides... England sacrificed four bulls on an altar five cubits by five cubits constructed of acacia wood...)

England: Supp 7 Unit 5 Build 2
France: Supp 5 Unit 6 Remove 1 (zero if retreat OTB)
Germany: Supp 1 Unit 2 Remove 1
Italy: Supp 2 Unit 3 Remove 1
Russia: Supp 10 Unit 10 Build 0 (+1 if retreat OTB)
Turkey: Supp 9 Unit 7 Build 2

Fall 1906 Adjudication:

England:
A Liverpool Supports F London - Wales
F London - Wales
F North Sea Convoys A Yorkshire - Holland
F Spain(sc) - Marseilles (*Fails*)
A Yorkshire - Holland

France:
A Belgium Hold
F Brest - Mid-Atlantic Ocean

DC 298 Fall 06 Adjucation - untitled36   (Feb 18, 2010, 7:40 am)
It's been a while since our last NMR, so I guess it was our time. I haven't seen any orders for Turkey, so his units stand around directionless on a fairly crucial turn.

In other news, The french claim two builds, which will undoubtably help as England is pounding on their back door. Still, all remains suprisingly balanced across the board. Of all the Blitz games, we are the only one with every power still at 2 or more centers (And our two center Russia is doing an admirable job at holding his own!). While many of the other games are grinding along towards a conclusion, the jury is still very much out on ours. It'll be exciting to see what happens next!

Gregory, A Ser was eliminated, but F Ion needs to retreat. Your options are Ion, Eas, and Aeg (or OTB). Let me know!

Autumn retreats and winter builds are due tomorrow at 9:00 AM CST (15:00 GMT). Moves and build totals below:

A Rumania Supports A Trieste - Serbia
A Sevastopol Supports A Rumania

TTP-DC301-Winter 1898 Map - douglasefresh at googl...   (Feb 18, 2010, 6:05 am)
The League of Shadows Outpost was concealed deep beneath the Church of Esthland. Catacombs of dry old bones, statues and death masks of prominent 'Brothers of the Sword' cast eerie shadows about his office; conjuring in the imagination of Agent Fresh; a time - many centuries ago - before peace had reigned supreme. With a raised eyebrow, Fresh wondered if Europe understood what it would mean to turn back the clock to those dark years. He wasn't sure he could guess at the horror himself.

It was more with worry than a sense of anger that Fresh considered the lack of a report from his man in Constantinople. The League had multiple agents in the region and so his military report to Zurich would be accurate, but Fresh certainly hoped that nothing foul had befallen his subordinate in the meantime.

And what a military report it was. All coups which had occured only a short year before were transforming themselves into conquering armies. The League of Shadows had maintained peace for so many long years by preventing the rise of any form of nationalism; but it appeared that the common people of Europe were welcoming the opportunity to march under a banner with open arms. Fresh shrugged - some things now seemed inevitable...

...Not least the tragic consequences of the stupidity of the human race, apparently. What could one do under such circumstances other than absorb oneself in one's work?

The dossier on the Italian peninsula was at least filling out nicely. Fresh scanned the recent message from Naples
.

Have acquired information about the renegades from Naples STOP

Perhaps by the end of the year, more information regarding the other uprisings would be forthcoming.

Drawing the Electric Telegram from its' box Fresh studiously relayed the data to H.Q.

The current deadline for Spring 1899 is now NoonGMT next Tuesday 23rd Feb. However I need to hear from our Turkey: Numpty to make sure he wishes to continue playing. If he leaves we will pause the game until a suitable replacement can be found. But goodness alone knows why he should! - you all stand on the borders of nationhood!

May I remind you that you now have two turns to establish your nations. At the end of 1899 the SC.s you own become your Home SCs for the remainder of the game.

DC302 - psychosis1973   (Feb 18, 2010, 6:00 am)
Gentlemen

Welcome to a new game of standard diplomacy on the diplomaticcorp website! I'm Michael, your friendly neighbourhood GM, and I'll be your guide during this game. I've been playing Diplomacy on the site for a few years now (with varying degrees of success), and this is my third game as GM.

It's been a while getting started, but the game is now ready to launch. Please take the time to read this introductory email!

HOUSE RULES

Important: My house rules are here. Read them!

http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/houserules/psychosis1973.doc

These are also available on the game's webpage.

Key points are:
- my say is final. I'm the GM. I am the law!
- I live in the UK. Bear this in mind when expecting replies to emails from me!
- I'll acknowledge receipt of orders - without acknowledgement, your orders haven't reached me
- I'll send out reminders for moves as deadlines approach, but it's ultimately the responsibility of players to get moves in on time
- can you label your moves with the game number (which we'll get shortly), the power you control, and the year and season they relate to
- the bit about me not receiving your moves - two strikes and you're out

DIPLOMATICCORP WEBSITE

I'll email out adjudications shortly after the deadline and update the game page on the diplomaticcorp website at the same time. We're game DC301 on the site - you should all have the game now linked on your profile page. The game will shortly have a dedicated forum on the diplomaticcorp site. Feel free to use it!

MESSAGES

Players can send anonymous messages (grey press) through the GM - these can be sent out with adjudications, or immediately - your choice! Useful for stirring things up amongst other powers!

DEADLINES

The Spring 1901 moves are due to me 9PM GMT on Thursday 25 February. I strongly encourage players to every season send in preliminary moves as soon as possible. This will allow me to review your moves and point out any problems (e.g., invalid orders, missing or misplaced units, etc.) that may present themselves in sufficient time for you to correct them!

To ensure everyone's still committed to the game, I'm making preliminaries compulsory for the first turn - could everyone therefore send me preliminary moves by Monday 22 February. I can then be reassured that the game's going smoothly.

I've given a bit more time for those all important first turn negotations. As a rough indication, future deadlines beyond the first turn are planned to be as follows:

Fall 1901: Tuesday 2 March
Fall 1901 retreats (if needed): Thursday 4 March

I'll generally try to have four days for major turns and one or two days for retreat and adjustment turns thereafter

DEADLINE EXTENSIONS

Happy to extend deadlines on request, but please give me plenty of warning!

POWER ALLOCATIONS

And the bit you've all been waiting for....who's got what country!

So, we have...in charge of the dual monarchy, playing as Austria...Steve Andrew (stevenseph1-at-aim.com)

Say hello to the island ruler, playing as England...Matt Barnes(mlb767-at-aim.com)

Munching smelly cheese, garlic and other stereotypical Gallic food, and playing as France...Simon Langley-Evans (Simon.Langley-evans-at-nottingham.ac.uk)

Guten Tag to our German player...Ajay Bhan (ajkbhan-at-gmail.com)

Say "Ciao bella!" to the Italian Stallion...Brian Miller(chessman121212-at-gmail.com)

Coming out of the east, the Russian Bear...Sean O'Donnell (sean_o_donnell-at-hotmail.com)

And finally, our Turkish Delight...Mike Read (porkbelly00-at-gmail.com)

Any questions, or comments please shout and I'll do my best to respond. You may want to introduce yourself to the other players...otherwise...game on!

Michael

A couple units require a retreat, but they only had one choice so I just moved them there.  If either party prefers OTB instead, let me know else the adjudication stands by this time tomorrow.

Is this the last week for two of our llamapaloosers?
Find out NEXT:  Fall 44 Monday Feb 22, 3pm Central!
Enjoy,
-mike
