dc278 - Revenge of the diplomat - Game start - blom.fredrik at gmail.com   (Oct 16, 2009, 5:39 am)
Gentlemen,

It appears that a kind sould has had mercy on us and decided to join in the game: Please welcome Tony Tella, our new Italian Prime Minister.

Turkey: Dan Huck (aefgirt7-at-yahoo-dot-com)
Italy: Tony Tella (jafainri-at-hotmail-dot-com)
England: Dirk Knemeyer (dirk-at-knemeyer-dot-com)
Russia: Jeffrey Cole (jeffcole854-at-gmail-dot-com)
Germany: Jeffrey Clay (jmc66-at-mac-dot-com)
Austria: Michael Sims (mike-at-fuzzylogicllc-dot-net)
France: John Clarke (john-dot-c1arke-at-btinternet-dot-com)

I'll see if we can keep a weekly schedule, and make the adjudications be due on Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm (Sweden, GMT + 1). The first turn will now be due the 21th of October, which should leave Tony plenty of time to talk to you all. You can see the status of the game on Diplomatic Corps - including the due date, etc.

I cannot stress enough the importance of preliminary orders. Get them in and be sure that you will not receive an NMR. Also: make all the orders complete. I do not want to go hunting for orders from a previous order-set - only the latest received results will be adjudicated.

If you have not received a confirmation from me, I have not received your orders. I try to respond within 24-hours. I will try to give you a 24-hour warning if I have not received any orders, but I make no guarantees.

Make my life easier:
I would appreciate if your subject line on mail to me look like the following:
dc278 - {Country} {Season} [revision]

Example:
dc278 - England Spring 1901 [1]

At the very least put the game number (dc27Cool in the subject line so that I will find the mail when I need it.

The forum will be set up soon. If there are any other questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Good luck, and happy diploming.

/Fredrik

DC226 Before Spring 1913 Press - hapolley   (Oct 16, 2009, 3:30 am)
Willie,
An excellent opportunity this year! We trust your analysis has revealed the same information to you. This Spring you should be able to take Galicia and retake Venice. We have already dispatched the forces necessary to facilitate these campaigns. With Venice under control, Naples and Trieste will follow. By the end of the year, the Sultan will have no alternative but to sue for peace.
Yours in Victory and Peace!

DC-224 Deadline Extension for Spring 12 - former.trout   (Oct 16, 2009, 1:03 am)
Heya guys,

As you might already know, a deadline extension has been requested for Spring 12.  Peg this one on me and my fumble of the Winter 11 turn on the weekend.  Too much Thanksgiving beer...

We'll take a breather for this weekend and try to work off some of that liquid courage.  Deadline will be revised to be set for Tuesday, October 20th (11:59 PM GMT).

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

DC267 Winter 2013 Results - MattTheLesser   (Oct 15, 2009, 6:39 pm)
The draw is voted down, so the battle for the Arctic will continue into
2014! The final movement season of 2013 sees a new board leader, as
Denmark takes the North Pole from the Russians and now controls the most
supply centers (10). Russia is down to 8 after also losing the Beaufort
Sea to the resurgent Canadians. Also, amazingly, both of our one-center
powers manage to not only reach safe waters for their fleets but also
stay in the game; Norway's survival is especially noteworthy given the
fact that the Barents Sea is completely surrounded by foreign units.

There are no retreats but there are 2 new endgame proposals, a Danish
solo and a Russian solo. The deadline for votes on these will not be
until the deadline for Spring 2014 orders, but I will publish the
results if I received votes from everyone before then.

The next deadline is for Winter 2013 adjustments; those will be due this
coming Monday, October 19, at 9 pm eastern. Adjustments due are listed
below the adjudication and, as always, I will adjudicate as soon as I
have results from all required parties.

Anyway - the deadline for both games is Friday, October 16th - feel free to send changes or, if you haven't yet - get your orders in!

DC 262: Angstskrik - Winter 829 Deadline Reminder - Kenshi777   (Oct 14, 2009, 1:19 pm)
Honored Kings of the Dark Ages -

Please note that by tomorrow evening (thursday, 1700 EDT) all your
fancy new longboats need to be built and your angry hordes of
axe-wielding marauders need to fall in to formation. If the royal
coffers no longer can afford the pay of your angry hordes, then one or
more of them will have to disband and become peaceful baristas at
Starbucks.

I.E. - winter adjustments are due.

Your humble GM -
B.

DC 262: Angstskrik - Winter 829 Deadline Reminder (dc262) Kenshi777 Oct 15, 11:02 am
Honored Kings of the Dark Ages -

It was brought to my attention that I had not published a map with the
autumn retreats reflected. Please pardon that oversight, and see the
attached files.

Breton A Ham retreats to Sur
Norse A Sve retreats to Jam

If anyone requires an extension because of this before the winter
adjustments, 24 hours will be permitted upon request.

Otherwise, I still do not have all adjustments in and the deadline is
in a few hours, so please submit them ASAP!

So, the news is that Turkey has taken the retreat as it stands. The map is correct. And so, we move on to the winter. Here is what I need from you:

Austria: 2 sc's - 2 units = even
England: 6 sc's - 7 units = 1 disband
France: 6 sc's - 5 units = 1 build
Germany: 1 sc - 1 units = even
Italy: 5 sc's - 4 units = 1 build
Russia: 10 sc's - 9 units = 1 build
Turkey: 4 sc's - 5 units = 1 disband

Please get those adjustments in by Friday, October 16, noon CDT.

DCI s03 retreats! - FuzzyLogic   (Oct 14, 2009, 8:40 am)
There was one vacation request for this turn, but I cant seem to find record of it anywhere. Perhaps this is a sign of the powers above conspiring against our would-be vacationer, or perhaps gnomes have invaded my computer and stollen those bits from my hard drive. By no means should we assume I've simply lost the request. In any case, if a player seems absent, that's probly why. Next deadline is therefore Thu 10/22, 4pm Central - a couple extra days this turn.

PRESS:
European Underground News: Word has it that the English navy has once again suffered a defeat in the North Sea at the hands of the Norwegians. Early reports say that the Norwegians got a little too drunk one afternoon and attacked the English during tea time in a blatant disregard for the Milan Convention Rules of Engagement of 1891 [section 4bii - "Tea time shall always be honored in any battle and most especially when it occurs in the northern climes. Those not wishing to partake in tea can partake in other refreshments since they are clearly barbarian and will die soon after tea time anyway."]

When asked why the English and Norwegians are fighting at sea, one anonymous source had this to say: "I heard that it all started because the English PM and Norwegian PM were drinking one night and got into a fight over the best use for potatoes. Rumor has it that the English PM swore that potatoes were best utilized to make chips. After all, everyone loves free pie and chips. Apparently PM Saralegui disagreed vehemently that vodka was the only acceptable use for potatoes and hit him over the head with a bottle of Svedka."

Elsewhere in Europe, disdain for the English plight is at an all-time high. Apparently PM Bledsoe's approval rating with European neighbors is in the loo. Germany still chooses NOT to secure his border or move against Norway while France seems more concerned with watching the running of the bulls than with securing his northern neighbor's safety. And Russia must have agreed that vodka is the best use for potatoes because the Russians aren't taking advantage of the northern war to seize more vodka distilleries from their neighbor and are actually moving south, presumably to find new potato fields.

When asked for a comment, PM Bledsoe simply had this to say: "Narf!"
