<Groan> Not Sims again!
Yep, I'll be your friendly neighborhood stand-in Gm while Warren is off roughing it in the great northern Tundra...
First things first, I put the game open for a new Austria to join us. Once that happens we'll get on our merry way.
Enjoy,

Hey folks,
The game is officially in recruiting mode at DC until we find a new Austria. In addition, I am going away for work for the next 10 days or so, and will be completely out of touch.
So unfortunately I need to delay for a while here, and will get back at it as soon as I return. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry for the 24h delay. I was on a flight yesterday, and was busy

later deadline is due to a work related trip next weekend;
adjudicating any earlier than that would be unrealistic.

I've been drunk since I left.
These so-called vacations
Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest..."
What a timeless, classic song. =P
On the board, everything and an empty bag of chips gets thrown at our Austrian amigo. (ed. note: the chip-bag WAS full, but what can I say?) The red fleets lose position in the West Med, and Moscow is sacked by, uhm, Russians returning home from their forced vacation. Depsite support from both English and Austrians, the French fleet take position in the Gulf of Lyons... However, is it enough? Is. It. Enough? <said in a spooky voice>
One retreat was owed - that of the previously mentioned Austrian in Moscow. However, only Sevastopol was accepting callers so I moved the red luggage in there. (Fredrik, please let me know if OTB is preferred.) Fall 1914 orders will be set due for Monday, July 26th (11:59 PM GMT).
Please let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

Oh crap. That's annoying. Sorry folks. There's been more stuff going on this holiday than I expected when I agreed to act as a replacement, but that's hardly an excuse. Thankfully my lateness hasn't affected my long-suffering Venetian ally.
Best of luck to the rest of you guys. Hopefully I'll get to play with you again once I have the time to actually communicate properly.

NMR's - jhack16 (Jul 18, 2009, 6:49 pm) |
Hi Guys,
Love the site as you know.
Think the NMR score for each player is great, but guys, lets get a bit closer to the truth..
I'm down as a 10% NMR...
I inadvertently missed one build in one game, over a total of TEN completed games.
Guys, this is NOT a 10% NMR.
Havent looked, but take an average of 10 years per game, so twenty turns, plus builds and retreats, maybe 40 "moves" per average game.
So, I missed one turn out of a potential 400. This is 0.04% not 10%.
So my score in reality is around 99.6%, but my record says no, 90%!
My record looks positively criminal, its not!
Love the concept guys, but if you can, lets get a closer reality to moves ordered/NMR'd
Hate to complain coz this is such a brill site, but guys, HELP!
Thanks,
Joe [Reply] |

I think we should shift everyone left - for this next season.
Hmmm, I wonder how that would play out - after fall of each
year, but prior to the winter, everyone shifts left one country
as per the list of where each started.

DC266 Spring 1901 Results! - MattTheLesser (Jul 18, 2009, 2:22 pm) |
An interesting opening filled with an equal amount of peace and
hostility. Most of the latter involves the Czar, as Russia conflicts
with both Austria in Galicia and Turkey in the Black Sea. But sure to
cause even more tension is the situation between the powers in Blue;
England opens north and east, only to find a French fleet in the
Channel! Elsewhere around Europe we see Germany claim Denmark and move
toward Holland, or does he intend to attempt to influence the fate of
Belgium? Italy heads to the Ionian but otherwise stands pat, Austria
heads south to Serbia and Albania, and Turkey exits Asia Minor into
Bulgaria. I think that pretty much sums up the obvious, but the
interesting part is what it all means for the fall, and you all will
have to figure that out for yourselves!
Speaking of the Fall, the deadline for those orders will be this coming
Wednesday, July 22, at 9 pm eastern. However, you are encouraged to
send prelims ASAP!
Matt

DC212 - Deadline Missed - former.trout (Jul 18, 2009, 1:58 pm) |
Heya folks,
Looks as though the deadline for DC-212 Spring 1914 was last night. I admit that like many of you, I missed this one. Its a common thread here though - as looking through my game-file I see that I only have one set of orders in hand.
Meaning that there are three more to come on in. Tie the ribbon to them and send them my way please - we'll extend for 24 hours until tomorrow evening. (Sunday, July 19th at 11:59 PM GMT).
Thanks!

Hi Doug,
For a comprehensive variant list, see our very own dipwiki.
While the variant bank is a staple of the hobby, what makes the dipwiki unique is that every variant creator has complete control of his own wiki pages on the variant. Instead of having to create one's own website, anyone with the desire to create a variant can create their page in the wiki quickly and easily, without needing to contact someone. They can upload maps, format text, create revisions, and so on.
Links to Realpolitik files, JDip files, Judge files, can all be linked up entirely by the end-user.
I believe this feature is what's made the dipwiki successful, since there is no dependency on any one person to process updates. The content is entirely controlled by the creators of the variants themselves.
