Germany will vote yes on the draw, but I think England can still win, so I advise Tim to vote no unles he is sick of the game.

Heya Blitzens,

A costly NMR from Russia this turn could be the nail in the coffin. Or could it? The Tsar does gain a build, though at the expense of England.

Winter 1909 adjustments will be due tomorrow night - Friday March 13th (11:59 PM GMT). The game rolls on!

Cheers!

Although it's a bit out of turn, since this is a winter adjustment phase, all 4 remaining players have now agreed to a DIAS. The three powers aligned against the 17-center France had established an unbreakable stalemate line.

I agree that the game got off to a rocky start, but it was still an interesting game nonetheless. Thanks for playing, everyone, and good luck in round 2 of the tournament!

Guys

It is surely now quite obvious that France has played

an excellent game to

get to 17 centres. It is also obvious that the

combined powers of Italy,

Austria and Turkey have set up an impenetrable

stalemate line.

Therefore can we please all agree to a DIAS and

prepare ourselves for Round

2 of the competition?

DC232 spring 1909 results - BabakTalebi   (Mar 13, 2009, 6:31 am)
i'm going to change my vote to yeas for the 4way draw now.

I wanted to get to 17 and set myself up... and I also was hoping Italy might NMR again ;P

so DIAS is agreed to.  it was great playing with you all - though it was not a great game.  with 2 players NMRing from the start - it was a very uneven game.

in any case - good luck to all of you for the rest of the tournament.

Guys

It is surely now quite obvious that France has played an excellent game to
get to 17 centres. It is also obvious that the combined powers of Italy,
Austria and Turkey have set up an impenetrable stalemate line.

Therefore can we please all agree to a DIAS and prepare ourselves for Round
2 of the competition?

DC236 Winter Blitz Board 6 - Fall 1909 - former.trout   (Mar 13, 2009, 12:21 am)
Heya Blitzens,

A costly NMR from Russia this turn could be the nail in the coffin.  Or could it?  The Tsar does gain a build, though at the expense of England.

Winter 1909 adjustments will be due tomorrow night - Friday March 13th (11:59 PM GMT).  The game rolls on!

Cheers!

DC205 - Missing Fall 1911 Orders - former.trout   (Mar 12, 2009, 11:43 pm)
Heya folks,

Unfortunately we're missing a set of Fall 1911 orders - the offending player has been notified in a seperate email...  I'm assuming this is due to the assumption that the draw would pass.  However, I do still need sets of orders from everyone in case the draw doesn't go through.

We'll extend 24 hours in hopes of gathering in the stray set.  Thanks everyone,

Trout

DC-239 Missing Builds - TheWhiteWolf   (Mar 12, 2009, 9:54 pm)
Folks,
According to my house rules, neglecting to submit orders/adjustments on time means you've NMR'ed. However, I hesitate to deny three powers their first year builds. As such, I need builds from Austria, England and Russia by tomorrow at 2pm CDT. Failure to submit adjustments will result in immediate replacement.

dc238--Game Back On! - coebq   (Mar 12, 2009, 9:42 pm)
GAME ON!

Thanks for your patience folks. We are ready roll once again.

We have a bold, new leader confirmed for Austria. You may have heard of this guy before. Goes by the moniker 'Former Trout.' Rumor has it he's played this game before. But I never put much stock in rumors, so go easy on the guy, and try not to scare him off too!

Just kidding of course, but please take this opportunity to introduce yourselves and then take a few days to plot your next audacious activities. Here are the particulars for our new diplomat:

First: Former
Last : Trout
Email: former.trout(at)gmail.com

Please find attached a new map to remind you of the state of affairs we currently find ourselves in. If there are no objections, I'll set the Spring 1903 deadline for for next Tuesday, March 17, same bat channel; same bat time. If you all get them in early, I'll go ahead and adjudicate early. If next Tuesday doesn't work for someone, please let me know ASAP.

The best of luck to you all!

Bruce

A&E 090205 / DC240: Not so fast, Archduke - NickHiggins   (Mar 12, 2009, 9:10 pm)
A&E 090205 / DC240: The big event this season was Britain's apparent change in policy towards Austria, with British units responsible for clearing Northern Europe of Austrian armies. There was finally a minor breakthrough in the Eastern European war, with Poland-Saxony capturing the Prussian SC in Konigsberg. Unfortunately for the Poles, this gain was offset by the loss of Dresden to Austria. The final area of conflict was the Med, with Turkey successful in gaining Algeria but stymied in Two Sicilies. In general, remarkably few supply centers changed hands, with a lot of stalemate and only 3 of 10 neutral SCs falling.

Here is our schedule:
Fall 1764 Retreat: Fri Mar 13th (needed from Prussia and Austria)
Winter 1764: Mon Mar 16th
Spring 1765: Thu Mar 19th

We have a couple sets of press. The first should be of great interest to everybody impacted by British moves this turn, while the second is... hmm, let's just say "classic".

PRESS

#1: British press
AP London: I'm back. My dad is doing wonderfully, and I thank you all for your patience and your helpful thoughts. It's great to be back, and now I get to enjoy my family and figure out how to catch up on three weeks worth of work.

London to Austria: Jorge, you're either stunned, not very surpised, angry, or you were looking for it (or told about it). Truth is, I saw you winning the game in two to three years if a concerted effort was not made immediately to slow you down. That is a testament to how well you've been as a diplomat in the early stages of the game, and how soft your east and north are due to unresolved conflicts. Now we just see whether I got the help I wanted, or I was betrayed.

London to France: Mike, you should be back in the game now. I really hope you ordered to HeW, and I hope you didn't bounce me in Brest. If all went as planned, you're in great shape to defend your new gain.

London to Spain: It seemed like we were talking the same language, Isaac. Now I find out if you trusted me to be able to deliver the goods.

London to Turkey: Welcome to Algeria (hopefully). If you landed, Jorge might have to fight on more than one front.

London to Denmark: No change in English tactics in the north...just a change in strategy in the south/central. You can still expect an empty North Sea.

Press #2: Danish
I was talking to a leader of another nation,
When he raised the simple notion of proxy delegation,
If I would place our forces under joint command,
Then everything would work out perfectly as planned,

It was the best solution to the issue of mistrust,
And would for past transgressions additionally be just,
At least, that is what this leader said, and while I sat and thought,
It struck me that in future this could be how wars are fought,

If all sides were commanded from one place,
There would no confusion and it would not be a race,
Armies would march and navies sail,
And no command would ever fail,

If one gave the orders for the units of another,
Then all forces would act to each as if a brother,
And peace or war one from t'other could not be told,
At this I was almost - almost - sold,

But Diplomacy is a game based in deceit,
And if one cannot lie then that does defeat,
The very point and what makes it great,
Proxy orders? Masturbate ...
